UFC this weekend. Anyone watching?

i will be for sure.

for those who dont follow, the UFC is a free style fighting league that has been on the fly since getting a new manager. its ran like boxing with weight classes, but all styles are allowed, and its fierce. nothing outside of eye pokes, rabbit punches and biting, is illegal. the competition is phenomenal, no bullshit fights like boxing. these guys are here to fight, not to be paid. well, its has risen in prominence and quality since dana white took over and right now i am all about it. it has a few different spike tv shows about it, and has monthly pay per views. visit www.video.ufc.com

tito ortiz and shamrock fucking hate each other, have plenty of shit talking lately, and already scuffled twice. this fight is gonna be SICK. might be a 1 rounder, but whoever wins is gonna be dominant cuz these two will just throw and throw if they have to.

and then, as if that fight weren't good enough, we get tim slyvia and the pit bull, andre arlovski, AKA these scariest human in the world, throw down for the third time for the ehavyweight belt. and they arent any heavy weights, they are punchers and strikers. its gonna be a nasty match. this rubber match is the highlight fight for me personally, aws it is the rubber match, with arlovski winning the first, sylvia the second, both in knockout manners.

my predictions...

and...

google, ""griffin bonner fight"" if you want to know before hand. its from 2 yearsago, and it is by far the sickest fight ever. two amatuers fighting for the contract to be pro, and they just beat the shit out of each for 15 minutes. both came out legends.

Re: UFC this weekend. Anyone watching?

I'm debating on doing PPV again for UFC this time. I'm tired of spending $40 every few weeks for the fights, but I do like the UFC and am excited about the two main events.

I predict Ortiz will beat Shamrock and Arlovski over Sylvia. Shamrock is too old and I predict won't even last 1 round. The Heavyweight fight should be excellent.

I agree that Bonner vs. Griffin fight for the Ultimate Fighter was awesome. It takes a special person to be an Ultimate Fighter.

Sylvia definetly looks 'special' doesn't he!

You should see Ortiz when he's in the bars in his metrosexual tight shirts, rolled up sleeves, glitter and eyeliner. :roflmao:

Re: UFC this weekend. Anyone watching?

arlovski fucked up and he knows it.if sylvia wasnt the belt holder he would have lost because andre was more agressive. both sylvia had the belt and you better be DOMINANT to win a decision. all he had to do was shoot a leg. sylvia is too lanky and slow to deal with arlovski on the ground. ESPECIALLY since he came up as a submission guy, all the training in chicago has him thinking more like a boxer than a striker-wrestler.

BTW did anyone see the first fight? bloodiest fight i have ever seen. joe stevenson and yves ______ (dunno)/

Re: UFC this weekend. Anyone watching?

Didn't know you were into Freefight Sean (that's how we call the discipline here). I've tried it a few times at my thaiboxing club, but it's too much ground fighting for my taste. Trust me, having a sweaty guy on top of you makes you want to fight to get his stinking body off you rather than to win the match... :disgusti:

Anywho, thx for the heads up. When I'm not too wasted from Extrema Outdoor this weekend, I'll surely check some fights out.

Btw, some pics of Tim Sylvia (black trunks) vs. Andrei Arlovski at UFC61...

Re: UFC this weekend. Anyone watching?

jan, this is what i do. i originally trained in karate for 2 years, but didnt like, it wasnt quick enough, so i went to aikido to learn better striking and countering. also akido taught me, what i consider the best takedowns since most are pulled off counters and dodges. i am now in my 3rd degree of my aikido blackbelt. im out of shape though. also, i studied wrestling and jui jitso in highschool and college for 7 years. personally i love it. the challenge of testing yourself against someone else with a healthy respect for each other, no cheap shots, no hate between fighters, just brain tricks. i should buy a digi camera and show you the scar on my elbow. it goes from just below the elbow almost to my shoulder. had my upper arm nearly destroyed about 10 years ago.

Re: UFC this weekend. Anyone watching?

UFC fucking rules...been watching it for years. :RightOn:

That Shamrock/Ortiz fight was bullshit!!! I know Shamrock was getting pummeled, but he jumped right up after the dumbass ref called the fight. They should have let them keep going...Shamrock looked up to it. Whatever....they'll fight again, only because they hate each other.

I've noticed UFC is getting WAY huge. I watched this fight at a local sports bar and it was PACKED...and not just Saturday night packed...it was packed for the fight. I think they're gonna start showing all of them, so I'll be there for many UFCs to come. 8)

Re: UFC this weekend. Anyone watching?

I love the UFC and MMA, but that was the worst UFC I've seen in a long time. The main event between Sylvia and Arlovski was really boring. I was nodding off during the fight.

The Tito vs Shamrock fight as I predicted would be quick. Shamrock is way past his prime and should retire and train new fighters. Tito may even be past his prime too. I agree that they stopped the fight too soon, but Shamrock did not intelligently defend himself. Hopefully, they won't fight again.

And Frank Mir isn't anything of the heavyweight champion he used to be. He looks overweight and out of shape. He was winded 1 minute in the first round.

I am looking forward to two fights though coming up --- George St. Pierre vs Matt Hughes and Chuck Lidell vs. Wanderlei Silva. GSP appears to be more experienced now and MH looked really strong in his fight vs. Royce Gracie. And the UFC light heavyweight champ vs. the Pride light heavyweight champ will be awesome.

Re: UFC this weekend. Anyone watching?

waitAminute.

did you just say that liddell is going to be man handled?

 1. he has a right hand better than tyson did.
 2. he has the best sprawl and escape technique in the entire UFC. ask matt hughes. even he said he would have a hard time getting on liddel.
 3. can you really doubt a man who looks like this.

you are completely out of your mind and obviously havent watched the UFC in a long time. or lest we forget what he did to tito ortiz.
