Yesterday the majority of the volunteers of the Olympic Games had THE opportunity to take part in the trial of the Opening Ceremony of the Olympic Games starting this Friday.

It was something unbelievable that I am inviting you to attend at your television at least. A unique show with lights and sounds. A journey through civilizations with a human touch.

During the parade of all participating nations (in total 202) Ti?sto will be performing live. This parade will last around 1 and half hour. Well I wish it was Digweed instead but it will be certainly something different.

Apart from the ceremony which was unbelievable, the whole olympic complex is astonishing, a real piece of art.

You are all invited to Athens! :)

I'm not a big Tiesto fan, last I heard him he was layin down epic trance. I hope to see this on tv, to see if he's updated his style at all. If not, I'll have to change the channel

Great info. Definitely looking forward to the games and Greece proving all the naysayers wrong. Looking forward to the Americans getting pushed to the limits in all sports, Greece going for their second championship of the summer in soccer and our Canadian athletes having their best Olympics ever. Tiesto or not, its nice to here that our scene will be showcased worldwide.

#234037Post 5 of 52

the arrogance of the USA basketball team looks like it is again going to be the cause of its own demise. Losing to Italy and needing a buzzer beater to beat Germany.. not a good sign. I'm not a huge fan of the games, I just hope they go off without a hitch, and they get the security issues sorted out. oh yeah, does the US even have a track and field team? seems as though they are dropping like flies to the "banned substance" testing. Are these tests too picky?

#234038Post 6 of 52

Sorry I just think that having these games in Athens is a bad idea. Hope I'm wrong. Everything will be on tape delay here in the U.S. which also sucks.

i do not think so. it is the olympics. it should be only for the people who are "true" ... granted it is hard to find them. it is a honor to be in the olympics and generally it is held at a high state. i could not see it any other way.

#234048Post 8 of 52

if you're not cheating, you're not trying. :P

I guess I mean the list of banned substances. I agree it should be kept clean. I just wonder if some cold medicine that may have a banned substance.. is that over the edge?

#234055Post 10 of 52

i think it depends on the person. for me, i think so. i have always viewed the olympics as the best in the world. there is a lot of pride and honor at stake. not only that, it is the world's most amazing athletes. i think if you can not stay off some stuff for 6-12 months you have problems. frankly if you care to cheat and win, well we have "professional" sports for that.

i think a lot of athletes seek any edge they can get. surely it has got a lot more intense because of science, technology and time. they can only test for what they know. you could have millions and pay someone to create some crazy drink advantage that piss's out like cold medicine. do you think that would be fair?

not to me.

#234059Post 11 of 52

im looking forward to watching the olympics, from the comfort of my own couch 8)

No I dont think that would be fair at all. I agree with that argument :Bingo:

Ti?sto to perform at the Opening Ceremony of the Olympic ...

games...

Ti?sto, twice voted the #1 DJ in the world by DJ Magazine, will make Olympic history on Friday, August 13, when he becomes the first DJ ever to perform in an Opening Ceremony of the Olympic Games.

Some four billion people will be watching the planet's premier sport event, when the 28th Olympiad of the modern era opens in Greece, the land where the Olympics were born, and the City where they were revived 108 years ago.

No DJ has ever performed at the Olympic Games.

The President of the ATHENS 2004 Organizing Committee, Mrs. Gianna Angelopoulos-Daskalaki, heralded the announcement of Ti?sto?s participation, saying: ?Our Ceremonies will include unique Greek artistic elements along with modern and international perspectives. While it is path-breaking, it is also natural, that a modern artist like Ti?sto will contribute to the celebration we?re planning on our opening night. We welcome him to Athens.?

In October 2003, Ti?sto was approached by the Athens Organizing Committee for the Olympic Games (ATHOC) for a DJ-performance of 90 minutes during the parade of the athletes, a part of the Opening Ceremony of the Olympic Games.

During this parade, all participating nations introduce their athletes, over 10,000 in total. ATHOC has shown it values art and innovation by asking the most popular DJ on Earth to produce the music for the parade.

Ti?sto will perform his DJ-set live in the Olympic Stadium in Athens. This will include new tracks produced especially for the Opening Ceremony and songs that have been tailored to compliment the spirit of the Ceremony.

In connection with this announcement, Ti?sto said, ?I am honored to be to be part of the biggest sports event in the world. The fact that the Games are returning to their birthplace and to the city where they were revived makes Athens 2004 very special. The opportunity to perform my music for billions of people around the globe will be the greatest highlight of my life.?

Re:: Ti?sto to perform at the Opening Ceremony of the Olympi

I don?t care if ti?sto is a good or bad DJ, I care about all that people. They?re gonna have a great time at Athens. You?ve gotta hire the # 1 dj (even if is the #1 magazines? DJ) for the Olympics.

It?s gonna be a great openning party

Re:: history to be made tomorrow...

whether you like tiesto or not this opportunity is great for electronica music as a whole. that said i personally do not enjoy him live. on the other hand his cd's keep me interested. is he digweed? of course not. but lets look at the bigger picture here. and stop all the bitchin. at least it's an actual dj and not some famous person pretending to dj (paris hilton, tommy lee, etc)

#239089Post 37 of 52

Re:: history to be made tomorrow...

my apologies!! i saw the tiesto thread but didn't think to look at it, because its tiesto. in either case they probably could of found a better dj to open the olympics with, someone from greece maybe?

Yeh, to strangle it to death in front of millions of unsuspecting ears.

#239094Post 39 of 52

its true unfortunately. people who dont listen to electronic music (a lot of the time, not all the time) dont listen because they are all led to believe its complete shit, because all they hear is tiesto brand cheese or paul oakenfold doing whatever the hell he's doing lately.

get diggers up there i say, he'll get the whole crowd moving, and then electronic music (and [ms]) can take over the world, one rapper at a time :Bingo:

#239107Post 40 of 52

I agree with Anthony post above, any kind of promotion of electronic music should be welcomed, and I have to say Tiesto is not the most unfortunate of all DJ's.
