he was a good running back.. not a Great running back.

as most people have said.. if he wants to quit, quit

he just picked a shitty time to do it

so fuck ricky williams

and good luck to miami

may they be better off without him (even though they wont be :P)

go seahawks (2nd choice colts)

Re:: Ricky Williams Retired

WOW.. all i can say. at least he's prolly made plenty to live comfortably for a number of years
For one I am sure he loves fame and fortune.

Number two, he is the most overrated running back ever! :MadNow:
that is a stupid comment. anyone that rushes for over 1000 yards every season from his ROOKIE year is not an over-rated quarterback. andyone that runs for over 1800 yard in one season is NOT an overrated quarterback.... get you stats str8, dude.

Re:: Ricky Williams Retired

People close to him say that he doesnt care about money. He realy likes to travel and take pictures. Good for him? sure. But doing it a week before training camp with all the top RB's signed? Miami knew he was odd when they signed him and they took a chance. He'll be under so much preasure now that he'll be back for this year

Re:: Ricky Williams Retired

Good for him, bad for the Dolphins. :twisted:

For one I am sure he loves fame and fortune.
Who knows, but I don't think so.
Number two, he is the most overrated running back ever! :MadNow:
Wrong. He wasn't one the greatest, but I can think of 20 other running backs that were WAY more overrated than he was. Anthony Thomas anyone????
Or Antowain SMith, Eddie George.

Weizy you're wrong the guy isn't interested in the fame. Yes, the whole issue should be the bad timing not his performance on the field, or his character. Just because the guy is very shy and doesn't handle himself like most overpaid premadonna's then he's labeled as selfish. He was a bad ass on the field a top 5 back.. Yes, I do remember that Buffalo game. Antonio Winfield whose is a 180lb DB was lighting him up all night.

#226698Post 47 of 80

is he going to get to keep all his money?

#226701Post 48 of 80
is he going to get to keep all his money?
There talking about they could possibly get up to 8 million back from him. They haven't said whether or not they are going after him. It would include this years salary plus his 5 million signing bonus when he signed with New Orleans.

#226704Post 49 of 80

well, that would suck for him then huh.. he retired because he wants to travel and whatever.. yet he has to give his money back, and has to get a job and cant do shit, lol.. or play football again, but who wold take him? think anyone would trust him?

#226706Post 50 of 80

someone would pick his nancyboy ass up in a heartbeat.

if Lawrence Phillips got that many repeat chances to play, sissy boy Williams will surely get another chance if he so decides to.

#226712Post 51 of 80

yeah, what ever happened to phillips? is he playing anywhere?

#226727Post 52 of 80

Re:: Ricky Williams Retired

weed isnt legal here. the guvernment is trying to pass legislation to decriminalize it for possion under 30 grams or something. you would just get a fine for it.. like a parking ticket

shitty deal though for miami. awful that he decides to do this at this time and not earlier. i respect the decision.. just bad timing

#226731Post 53 of 80

it's only a misdemeanor here for less than 32 grams.

it goes on your record, but it's just a fine.

Williams told the newspaper that marijuana played a larger role in his retirement than he indicated when he walked away after just five pro seasons. He said he learned of the failed test and possible suspension days before telling coach Dave Wannstedt last week that he was through playing.

Williams said, however, that there were "a hundred reasons" for his surprising decision to retire, and his desire to continue smoking marijuana was only one of them.

"I didn't quit football because I failed a drug test," he told the Herald. "I failed a drug test because I was ready to quit football."

Williams said he's not addicted to marijuana.

Re:: Ricky Williams Retired
Nothing wrong with moving on but to do it a week before traing camp. Now that's BS!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh please. If the team would have cut him, it would have been a business decision. People quit their jobs every day. It's a job. And, to be honest, the money is probably the best part of it. College ball is way different. He was taking 10 random urine tests per month. The NFL dictates every single aspect of your life. Every second of time is planned and spoken for.

He served his time. He made people at UT rich. He took a beating for the fans.

And, quite honestly, he was right. People could care less about him.

Who cares when or why he did it. If he didnt play football, no one would give a shit that some guy quit his job to go find whatever it is he is looking for. You think they cant get another RB. Jesus, miami has never had a running game really anyway, so it will be nothing new if they dont have one this year. And when a team is ready to, "go in a different direction", do THEY give a fuck when they release players? I really doubt they take much into consideration other than wins and losses and saving money. You guys are just pissed that a guy with millions is out there buying up all your weed! lol

Actually, shit, I am too! :lol:

#226991Post 66 of 80

Re:: Ricky Williams Retired

This may be good for the dolphins. Now dickhead Wansteadt (or whatever) can get his shit together and sign Ogunleye and then next year pick up Edgerrin James. And Ricky can smoke a bowl for the fucking Dolphins. Maybe, just MAYBE, they'll win a fucking superbowl before I die!!!

#234073Post 68 of 80

so now he is saying he might come back and play for the Raiders?

jesus, make up your mind. I hope they laugh in his face.

where did you read that? if he decides not to retire... wouldnt he be contractually obligated to the dolphins :?

#234084Post 70 of 80

I listen to sports talk radio. Jim Rome show.. he mentioned that Ricky said he would consider coming back if he could play for the Raiders.

things that make you go hmmmmmm :?

#234086Post 71 of 80

what a fucking tard. if i was with the dolphins, there would be NO WAY in hell i would let him walk away like that and then turn around and join the raiders. fuck that. this dude needs to grab his bong, and fucking disappear :roll:

thats part of the reason why Barry Sanders remained reitred.. he couldnt go to another team. Detroit wouldnt let him.

#234093Post 73 of 80

i dont blame them.. if you dont want to play for a team, why sign a long term contract with them.. the bastards get all excited about the offer of millions of dollars, and then when they have a change of heart, what do they expect? the dolphins/lions to just say "okay, you can go play for whoever you want, despite the fact that we are losing probably our best player" stupid stuff. selfish arseholes. unprofessional behaviour in "professional" sports = :BSPost:

my dad watches college football and college basketball, and i can understand why. sports the way they should be, without all the drama of rich pricks playing only for themselves and not for their teams.

#234111Post 74 of 80

edit sorry for the dup.

#234112Post 75 of 80

well that just goes to show you that he obviously didn't like miami. i'm not going to blame ricky and i'm not going to blame the dolphins, but obviously someone was not treating the other party with appropriate respect. chances are it was because ricky likes da greens too much. :twisted:

#234114Post 76 of 80

not at all.. but if he comes back, is he going to have to serve his suspension for failing a 3rd drug test before he can play again? or is thi "retirement" just a ploy to get around that?

#234118Post 77 of 80

good question... i'd be interested to hear that.

i think if he signed papers for retirement and debriefed with the nfl, he doesn't have to serve his sentence. but i really have no clue. why does nfl have to turn into fucking 90210. this is why i don't watch soap operas or fucking tlc or life or oxygen or politics... to get away from all the childish bullshit drama. i want to drink beer and see guys kick each others asses and celebrate when done properly. amen.

#234146Post 78 of 80

i have no problem with people who smoke weed.. i smoke weed everyday.. but i think that if he comes back, then he should definately have to serve his suspension :?

Re:: Ricky Williams Retired

If he pulls this shit and comes and plays for the Raiders he will officially be labeled "the biggest bitch of all time."

Player can't pick and choose who they play for. If that was the case the Bengals, Royals, Pirates and Clippers would never have teams at all. If you don't like the city you play in or the team you play for demand a trade, players do it all the time. But to rip out the hearts of the fans in Miami and basically relagate you team to a 4-12 season at best, then turn around and say "Well...I would really like to play for the Raiders" is just wrong.

I like Ricky as a player but he needs to get over himself and think about what he is doing.

Living here in Austin, I will just relish the memories of his kick-ass days back at UT! :RockOn:
