I am about to turn 30 years old here in a couple of weeks. My birthday always falls really close to the super bowl which I always thought was cool when I was growing up! Since my 8th Birthday when the Colts moved from Baltimore to my home town of Indianapolis I have had the wish of seeing the Colts win the Super bowl! After about 10 years of disappointment I changed my birthday wish to just seeing them win the AFC Championship game! Even if they didn't score any points in the Super Bowl I would be happy! Now after 22 years, what I wish is for the Colts to actually beat teams that they should beat in the playoffs!

Peyton Manning is a hell of a quarterback until he gets to the playoffs. I have never wanted to admit that ever. And here is another one that will make all you Pats fans want to get a print out of this and hang it up on your fridge. I am now a firm believer that Tom Brady is a better quarterback then Manning! No matter that the Pats lost this week to the Broncos. The Broncos are a tougher team then they have been in the last couple of years! Brady pulls it out and doesn't make up EXCUSES at the end of the game! That is why he has 3 rings and the colts are still waiting on a AFC Championship!

Peyton if you are having problems with the protection maybe you should adapt and not have your linemen in their stances for 25 seconds while you audible the crap out of the play! I can only image what it is like for a 300 pound man to have to hold him self up with his legs while you are back there yelling like an idiot! Especially in yesterdays game! You know the Steelers are not going to be talked out of a blitz! Stop trying! Do you know why Glenn is always jumping early off the line??? Because he is fat and weights about 200 pounds more then you! He is also understanding that he is going to have to keep another fat man from getting past him. Tough job when your legs are burning from last nights all you can eat Sizzler buffet! Also learn how to move about the pocket. Good lord duck and more every once and a while!

I should stop now because in the bigger picture of life this doesn't really mean that much to me! I will just go about my life the usual Colts fan way... I will not watch the rest of the playoffs but still keep up on the scores. I will only watch the Super bowl for the commercials and I will have to listen to all of my friends talk about how great we will be next year as we suck down a sympathy keg of Coors!

Indianapolis will always be the bridesmaid but not the bride!

And speaking of Coors, Go Broncos and I am out!

Re: COLTS Fan TURNCOAT!!! Rants and Raves

favre fan/ jets fan who extremely admires the patriots organization, wish the jets ran it like them.

my joy comes from the last 3 years of getting shit from people when i trashed manning and bet against him in most big games.

im basically acting like a mets/red sox fan right now. my team isnt there so im just going against the yanks/colts, even though my guys are golfing.

so are you rooting for any of the final 4?

#544516Post 11 of 36

Re: COLTS Fan TURNCOAT!!! Rants and Raves

if anything, ill root for the panthers, i like this delhomme guy, he is firey passionate and alreadty proved he can play big when needed. not a fan of steve smith as he is a showboat, talented yes, but a showboat and he seems like its more about ""me"" than than the team. but delhomme has the talent and head for it. he seems to lead that team very well and in many ways. smith is the lead talent, but i think JD is the key factor in that offense. he brings it all together.

broncos would be a nice choice as i love shannahan and his '' we're gonna run, you can try to stop us, but we''re gonna run it"" style. plummer has flown under the radar as well.
I am now a firm believer that Tom Brady is a better quarterback then Manning!
Brady is a clown who benefits from great coaching and outstanding team play all around him. During the Denver-NE game, they put up the stat where Brady had the most consecutive playoff wins, eclipsing guys like Bart Starr, Joe Montana, John Elway, and Troy Aikman. Just goes to show how meaningless stats really are.

Frankly, although a great leader, Troy Aikman can't hold a candle to guys like Joe Montana and John Elway in terms of playing ability. Brady, however, can't hold a candle to Aikman. Superbowl rings be damned, Brady should never be included in any conversation of the great quarterbacks in this league.

Uh.... So does that mean we could plug in Rex Grossman or Charlie Batch or Kyle Orton or Kerry Collins into the Patriots line up the last few years and they would've won as well? Don't think so....

Re: COLTS Fan TURNCOAT!!! Rants and Raves

i think brady is overrated too, just for the record ;)

but he is better than the above mentioned qbs

#545499Post 17 of 36

Re: COLTS Fan TURNCOAT!!! Rants and Raves

you cannot even trash brady.he isnt overrated at all. while there are QB's who might have more physical talent in one way or another, vick runs better, manning throws better, he is the complete QB, has talent, brains and guts, most of all , he is a winner when he needs to be. go ahead and be an idiot by saying they didnt win this year, but he is 1 of 82 ppl on the team. they lost half thier staff in the last 2 years, and many injuries, but he still won 3 bowls, and this year won the passing title. i'd put my money on him every day. he is the best QB since farve in the mid to late 90's. boxing and tennis are the only sports where you do it by yourself. brady does most of it by himself.

I'm not saying he isn't an important part of the offense, I'm just saying that he shouldn't be included amongst the great quarterbacks in the league. In direct answer to your question, though, I am absolutely saying that there is nothing talismanic about having Brady in your lineup. Could you stick quarterbacks in that affirmatively suck like the guys you've mentioned and still had success? Maybe -- let's not forget that Trent Fucking Dilfer wears a Superbowl ring -- but probably not. More likely, though, you could stick any of a number of solid quarterbacks into Belichick's system and probably still do OK.

Brady is simply not, nor has he ever been, a "take the team on his shoulders and direct the team to victory" kind of QB like Elway, Montana, and Farve when they were in their prime. Let me change your question and throw it back your way. Put Brady on a typically underwhelming team like Cleveland, Detroit, or Arizona -- does he have what it takes to take teams like that on his back and succeed? I honestly don't think so. My opinion.

toasty, he is the best QB in the league, not only with them, but above them. just look at manning. all those records and he shit his pants for the fourth year in a row.

Whether Brady or Manning is the better QB right now is a debatable point. Whether Brady is on the same page as the all-time greats in this league is not, in my opinion. I don't care what the stats say or how many rings he's got. I've never understood the hard-on people have with the guy. I think about Tom Brady and I just yawn.

I'm not saying the guy sucks (although I do stand by my observation that he's a clown -- different critique), I'm just saying he isn't all that.

Re: COLTS Fan TURNCOAT!!! Rants and Raves

tom brady has won 3 superbowls and he is only 28. not sure why u think he is not all that ...he is a very low key guy. i happen to think he represents himself very well. and i would hate to tell you u dont win 3 superbowls without loads of talent. the qb pretty much guides/leads the team.

Tom Brady = Mr. Clutch.

Re: COLTS Fan TURNCOAT!!! Rants and Raves

The following comes from a pats fan, you have been warned.
Brady is simply not, nor has he ever been, a "take the team on his shoulders and direct the team to victory" kind of QB like Elway, Montana, and Farve when they were in their prime.
Personally, i think the last 1:30 of Superbowl 36 is all the evidence you need to show that Brady is exactly that kind of QB - and the fact it was done in his 1st year as a starter makes it even more impressive. Then take a look at the other two winning championship season: When SB 38 turned into an absolute shootout in the 2nd half, Brady made most the calls himself down the stretch, including the last drive that started on their own 40 (thank you John Carney). In 2004, when he finally had a decent running game to compliment his arm, he was given even more freedom to run the offense as he saw fit. Add to that the fact that in every evaluation of Brady you can find - not by the so called experts, but the coaches, the players, the teammates - you hear the same thing: It's his ability to step up when the game matters most, his coolness under pressure and his skill in understanding what is on the field in front of him. If those are the marks of a great QB, than I don't know what is.

If nothing else, what happened this season should only reinforce Brady's right to be considered one of the best in the business. Start with the loss of Weis, the guy all the naysayers credited with Brady's success. He leaves and Brady has the best (statistical) year of his career. Then look at how injuries took down one starter after the other. He lost nearly his entire offense line, his stud RB, his go-to 3rd down back, his #2 WR and pretty much all the key members of the Defense and the Pats still get the AFC East and a playoff win. "Take the team on his shoulders and direct the team to victory" is exactly what he did this year. Coaches may draw up the plays but they certainly don't make the plays.

Re: COLTS Fan TURNCOAT!!! Rants and Raves

except they went out on the wild card round. so he wins superbowls with his good players, and goes out on wild card on the season with injuries. so how can one say that he carries the team, when it seems the other way around? he is good, probably the best in the league, but not legendary imo.

man toasty ur kind of make no sense. regardless of weather u like brady or not....he is a helluva leader and his guided his team to 3 superbowls....U are the only one I have ever heard that doesnt think this way.

Re: COLTS Fan TURNCOAT!!! Rants and Raves
wow seems like ur knowledge of the nfl must be lacking
I would think that someone from Tampa would recognize that having a successful football team doesn't necessarily require a stud quarterback at the helm. Look, I'm actually a Bucs fan and watch them religiously, and I'm sure you would agree with me that Tampa Bay didn't win Superbowl 37 because of the stellar play of Brad Johnson.

Brady is obviously a good player, but I just don't see him alongside the all-time greats. I just don't. No one is going to change my mind on this. He's a good player, maybe even a great player, but the Pats have had the success they have had first and foremost because Bill Belichick has developed a great system that takes full advantage of all of his players strengths and downplays their weakenesses on both sides of the ball.

Except they don't even MAKE the playoffs this year without him.... I remember quite well people saying John Elway was the cats arse until he won his first superbowl. No one thinks Dan Marino or Jim Kelly were suck ass quarterbacks even though they never won a superbowl. We're talking out both sides of our mouths here. We say "how meaningless stats are" and "superbowl rings be damned". Yet the guy has three superbowl rings, two superbowl MVP's, a ten and one record in the playoffs and has a better career passing rating than either Elway or Marino and is five points behind Montana.... I'm not a Tom Brady kiss ass, I'm a frickin Bengals fan for God's sake but what else do you want the guy to do?

Re: COLTS Fan TURNCOAT!!! Rants and Raves

On a side note I guess we should all think Terry Bradshaw was not "legendary" as well because of all the "talent" and "coaching" he had.....

#545556Post 30 of 36

Re: COLTS Fan TURNCOAT!!! Rants and Raves

does someone want to tell me that part of why peyton manning has put up such good numbers is because he's had people like marvin harrison (incredible), edgerton james (when the passing game isnt woking edge has always picked them up) reggie wayne, marcus pollard, dallas clark, and a pro bowl o-line and a good o-coordinator. This year peyton even had a pro bowl defense and STILL it amounted to an early playoff exit.

the pats barely have any of that, corey dillon is mediocre at best, david givens, troy brown, who cares? they dont stack up to harrison and wayne and edge.

sure, that pat's have a system, but if you watch the throws brady makes, he stands in the pocket and is willing to take the hit. when manning starts getting hit, hes completely ineffective. see: steelers vs colts, 2005 afc playoffs.

IF YOU LIVE NEAR NYC turn on 660 AM NOW>

bill polean the colts GM is on the radio and they are grilling him and he is fighting back and BS trying to cover his team.... WOW.

PS can you tell im a sports freak? this is getting nuts.

details please, im a far ways from nyc.

#545600Post 34 of 36

Re: COLTS Fan TURNCOAT!!! Rants and Raves

polean basically hung up right there.

they were killing manning and he took offense, he threw the line under the bus worse than manning did though and he went off on them,.

www.wfan.com will be up later im sure, under mike and the mad dog section. also, if yuo have cable or satellite and have the YES network, it will be on later tonight round 11 PM i think.

http://wfan.com/?can_view=018142644

he said no blame should be put on manning, he said marvin harrison had a great game and did exactly what he needed to, denied that harrison had bad body language and said peyton never soft tossed balls in the game. he said the pitt defense was incredible all year. he denied that manning played bad under duress, said he stood in there and acted tough under pressure......

basically he tried to cover his team by lying.

Ok so the Broncos got their asses handed to them. The clock struck midnight for Cinderella (Jake) and she went back to her old ways. Oh well, there is always next year.

I tried to find some Bronco jokes but I couldn't find any. So I am going to plagiarize:

Denver Bronco Jokes

Q:What do you call 47 millionaires around a TV watching the Super Bowl? A: The Denver Broncos.

Q: What do Jake Plummer and Billy Graham have in common? A: They both can make 70,000 people stand up and yell "Jesus Christ."

Q: How do you keep the Denver Broncos out of your yard? A: Let Jake Plummer throw the ball.

Q: Where do you go in Denver in case of a tornado? A: To Invesco Field- they never get a touchdown there.

Q: What do you call a Denver Bronco with a Super Bowl ring? A: John Elway.

Q: What's the difference between Jake Plummer and a dollar bill? A: You at least get something of value from a dollar.

Q: How many Denver Broncos does it take to win a Super Bowl? A: Only one (# 7) and he is retired.

Q: What do the Denver Broncos and possums have in common? A: Both play dead at home and get killed on the road

I am only kidding. How much I wish the Broncos had won the game, the Steelers have just outplayed and dominated everyone over the past few weeks and they definately earned the right to go. I hope Jerome finally gets his ring, in his hometown. Good Luck to the Seahawks. Pittsburg looks pretty unstoppable if Ben continues playing the way he has over the last few weeks.
