RICHMOND, Va. - Virginia Tech quarterback Marcus Vick was dismissed from the team Friday, the result of numerous legal transgressions and his unsportsmanlike conduct in the Gator Bowl. University president Charles Steger announced the dismissal on the same day that coach Frank Beamer met with Vick and his mother in their Hampton Roads home, the school said. I certainly wish him the best.” School officials said in a statement that there would be no further comment until a news conference on Saturday. Beamer, Steger and athletic director Jim Weaver, who said the stomping embarrassed the university, were all expected to attend. Vick, 21, led the Hokies to an 11-2 season, which ended with a 35-24 win over Louisville in Jacksonville, Fla.

Vick completed 61.2 percent of his passes for 2,393 yards, 17 touchdowns and 10 interceptions this season.

During a game at West Virginia on Oct. 1, Vick flipped his middle finger to fans behind Tech's sideline.

He apologized in a statement the next day. "What I did was wrong and I am sorry," he said. "My goal is to be the leader of this team and do things the right way."

is he eligible for the draft?

Re: Vick kicked of Virginia Tech

damn!! damn, damn... i guess the school's doing the right thing. they tried to sweep an incident or two under the rug before he was suspended last year, and VT fans really wanted it to be the slap in the face that marcus clearly needed. guess not. honestly, i was hoping when marcus would lower his shoulder, bowl over a db, then get in the guys face and jaw at him, that it was just a tough qb who liked dishing it out. maybe just another thug, though. sucks for the team and fans.
He doesn't plan to go to the draft and he would need one more year
i think he is eligible for the draft. he played 2 years ago as a freshman. last year, he was suspended. this year, he played again. you need to be 3 years out of high school to be eligible for the nfl. he should go into the draft. he pretty much has nothing else to do except live off of his brother's millions.

Re: Vick kicked of Virginia Tech

^^ he hasn't declared, but just a game or so ago he was telling reporters that he thought he definitely needed another year to get ready for the NFL. he's got the name and mad talent but that doesn't help his stock, he's better off transfering and running all over division I-aa if he can. but he could come out now and be a career backup if he wants. didn't randy moss have to transfer over some trouble before he came out?

espn is saying that he's going into the draft now.

randy never got to play at florida state because he got caught with some mary jane. he transfered to marshall, made people look silly, and came out early.

Re: Vick kicked of Virginia Tech

he is about as useless as his older brother. mike is the most over rated player in the NFL, just a product of the media and ESPN. i cant believe he is going to the pro bowl as the 27th ranked QB on an 8-8 team that couldnt even get in to the playoffs. nice one ron mexico.. whats the little vick going to use at the herpes clinic? joe panama?

mike vick's stats have always sucked. 27th ranked doesn't mean anything. his numbers at VT were the same, but the guy finds ways to win and does incredible things on the field to make it happen.

it was a bad season for the falcons, clearly. and he'll screw your fantasy team. and i think both the vick brothers are cocky player head cases. but mike vick is a good player.

Well, Marcus Vick just got arrested for brandishing a gun at a McDonalds. This guy's future in the NFL is about as promising as Clarett's.

holy shit!!! being that went to VT, i like to imagine i'm privy to most of the player dirt that's kept out of the news. rumors here and there and such. but now i wonder how much they did sweep under the rug before it was too much. screw marcus for thinking he'd get that much pampering...

RICHMOND, Va. -- Former Virginia Tech quarterback Marcus Vick, booted from the team last week for his behavior on and off the field, was charged Monday with pulling a gun on three teenagers during an altercation in a restaurant parking lot.

Vick surrendered at the Suffolk magistrate's office after three warrants were issued for his arrest Sunday, Magistrate Lisa Noel said. The 21-year-old Vick was charged with three misdemeanor counts of brandishing a firearm, and was released on $10,000 bond. Police said the parents of a 17-year-old boy reported that Vick pointed a weapon at their son and two others during an altercation at a McDonald's in Suffolk, a southeastern Virginia city where Vick's mother lives, Sunday night. If convicted of all three counts, Vick could be sentenced to up to three years in jail and a $7,500 fine, police spokeswoman Lt. Debbie George said in a statement. On Friday, Virginia Tech kicked Vick off the team, citing the cumulative effects of numerous legal problems and his unsportsmanlike conduct in the Gator Bowl, where he was caught on tape stomping on the left calf of Louisville All-American Elvis Dumervil. He also received a speeding ticket and a ticket for driving on a suspended license in Hampton on Dec. 17 while under a "zero tolerance" policy from Virginia Tech. The policy was implemented when Vick was suspended in 2004 because of several legal problems. He later came under further scrutiny because of replays of his actions against Dumervil. Vick claimed it was accidental, but hurt his cause by claiming to have apologized to Dumervil, the NCAA sacks leader. Dumervil said he received no such apology. Saturday, Vick announced he had decided to turn pro. A Virginia Tech spokesman said university officials would have no comment on Vick's arrest. "At this point, I think the actions speak for themselves," the spokesman, Larry Hincker, said. Vick is the younger brother of Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick. He was the runner-up to Wake Forest's Chris Barclay, by one vote, as the Atlantic Coast Conference's offensive player of the year, and was the league's first-team quarterback. In 24 career games, the 6-foot, 212-pound Vick threw for 2,868 yards, 19 touchdowns and 15 interceptions. He also ran 184 times for 492 yards and six TDs.

That's what he gets. These athletes think that because there is a little bit of hype about them they can do whatever they want. Fuck him. Although I hope the Dolphins pick him up ;)

Re: Vick kicked of Virginia Tech

He seriously could have used another year in college. But because he can't control himself, now he might not have a chance at either. Just another spoiled athlete with a false sense of entitlement.

And I thought he was going to be way better than Michael. Well, I'm a better passer than Michael, but I though Marcus had the potential to be a better all around QB...not just a "human highlight reel" (that is slowly running out of tape) like his brother.
