Re: To All Red Sox Fans...
dotel, a one year 2 million dollar deal sounds like a deal the a's would make, oh wait we got huston street for less. only a few more months till spring training.
Re: To All Red Sox Fans...
fucking sellout.
Re: To All Red Sox Fans...
^^Yup, but ah well. 4 years at $52mil? That's going to come back to bite the Yanks in the ass - and considering their recent history of grossly overpaying for aging talent, I'm surprised George pulled the trigger on this one in the first place. Damon has missed significant time with injuries each of the last two seasons, and I doubt next year will be any different. I would have loved to see him retire as a Sox, and I'll give him a standing o his first game at Fenway - but I'm ok with this deal.
Besides, I think I'm going to miss his wife more anyway:

Re: To All Red Sox Fans...
Yoooo his wife is pretty damn sweet hubba hubba
Re: To All Red Sox Fans...
hahaha. i remember a few years back going to a royals game with some friends in kc back when damon played for them. we were joking that half the guys there were there to see his wife and could care less about the team.
Re: To All Red Sox Fans...
whats really scary is the fact that 8 of the top 10 run producers in the AL are now on the yanks, they are gonna score 1000 runs. if the big 3 surprises(chacon, wong, and small) can be clutch again, then we are better off. keep in mind that they had 14 starting pitchers due to injury last year and still made it to the playoffs. (and didnt get swept).
boston took a step back. they lost a ton of offense, are gonna lose david wells and they want to trade matt clement.
STILL though, you have to put your money on the white sox again. they are intact and even better. then improved thier offense with a few good moves, and improved thier pitching with Vasquez. scary.
Re: To All Red Sox Fans...
Yankees = whores
Re: To All Red Sox Fans...
he is horrible anyways.. past his time.
Re: To All Red Sox Fans...
Yankees = whores
yankees = overpriced whores
there is a difference.
Re: To All Red Sox Fans...
but everyone loves whores
Re: To All Red Sox Fans...
the only team that has the right to bitch at the yanks is boston, as thier fans sell out the stadium every game, like the yanks fans do.
blame yourselves for not showing up to your fav team's games. they can only pay the team what they make, which is what the yanks do. if your owner is pocketing money and putting a shit team out, then yell at him. you will see the mets payroll skyrocket now too as they have already topped 120 million and will spend more and thier attendance is gonna rise dramatically next year too.
show up to the games and make your team money so they can hire players

Re: To All Red Sox Fans...
Red Sox President and CEO Larry Lucchino is holding a Q&A session with the Boston media right now on WEEI (the main sports station in New England). Listening to this guy I am suddenly less confident in my hopes that they had a Plan B in place.
[rockingbackandforthinmychair] Beckett is't as injury prone as everyone says, Lowell is due for a big year, we've still got Manny, 2004 world champions, biggest comeback in sports history....it's ok... it's ok.... [/rockingbackandforthinmychair]

And giving 4 year $52 mil contracts to players with declining bat speed and declining range in the outfield is going to accomplish that how?
Quick, what was the last big name acquisition the Yankees made in the offseason that helped them win a championship?
Johnson? Vazquez? Brown? Rodriguez? Sheffield? Mussina? Giambi? Matsui? Pavano?
Every year since 2000, the Yanks have acquired 1 or 2 big names, and everyone proclaims them as champions, and then the games actually start.
Damon has a girl's arm, and other than his huge 2004 season, he has been not much more than a slightly above average player the last 5 years. His stats were down across the board this year, and he wore down in the second half of the season.
Re: To All Red Sox Fans...
^^ I agree with everything you just said..also it was a contract year.. so now that he is signed for 4 years he won't do shit for the next 2..

Actually Mike Mussina has one a championship with the Yankees.
Obviously as a Red Sox fan your not familiar with yankee players but Bernie Williams has won 4 championships with the Yanks and he is nototrious for having a terrible arm. The only reason he was a great fielder was b/c he could run down any hit and make the catch. So all this weak arm shit means nothing to people who are familiar with the Yankess. I'm sure there are some Yankee fans who can back me up on that.
Regarding, us getting big name players WHO CARES!! Last time I checked you guys already had the A-Rod deal in the bag until the players Union got involved and the Yankees came in and signed him. I know like Curt Schilling wasnot a big pick up, or signing Manny Ramirez or getting young stars like Josh Beckett. You guys sound so hypocritcal. You go for the same big names we do. And if you really want to go back in history in stealing players from arch rivals go back to to the late 90's when you guys were very aggresively trying to sign Bernie Williams when he was at the top of his game.
You will never hear a Yankee fan get upset about another arch rival team signing a big name NEVER. You know why? Because we love the competition. Do you Red Sox fans not want to see big name players in the AL east????? I was so happy to see players like Miguel Tejada get signed in our division. How come there wre no rants and raves about A.J. Burnett getting signed in out division?? Are you happy going to see your team play the no name Devil Rays.
Ok fine we sign big name players but like you said they don't help us. So instead of knocking the Yanks for getting these guys, just sit back and laugh and hope we fall flat on our face like we did in 2004.
I love my team but I will be the first person to stand up and say that the Red Sox fans have by far one of the best if not the best Fans in MLB or even all of sports! I hate the fact to see your team get dimantled like that. There was nothing more that I looked foward to then to see the Sox and Yanks go at it. If you guys want to get pissed don't worry about what's going on other's backyards worry about yours.
Do you not see that there is this vicious cycle of players leaving due to the higher management??? Pedro, Damon, Manny who wants to leave, Millar, Mueller, Carbrera, Derek Lowe. Nothing was done by your higher ups to keep these guys. All of these guys were essential in winning your 2004 championship. I mean for christ sake your awesome GM left b/c of your management team. You traded away Renteria after one year???? Are you kididng me he just got in the AL. Decision like that is what kills teams.
I really do hope you guys get some big names, I really do but you guys need to stop getting upset at others and continue doing the great job you guys do by rooting for your squad and continuing to get these good players. It's all about competition right??
Re: To All Red Sox Fans...
Blah blah blah.Yeah Derek Lowe He really panned out huh.He had a stellar post season.thats it.
Re: To All Red Sox Fans...
Ok Derek Lowe only had a good post season. Isn't that when you want your players to do welll????
And how about the other players??? Kind of quiet about them huh???
When the season starts be sure to tell us how the AL east basement feels.
Re: To All Red Sox Fans...
Yeah the One season he helped us win the world series.Mussina was the only one on that Stellar roster of the yankees that won them something.Have steinbrenner keep paying those high salaries and get nothing in return.oh wait they did get the pennant 8 yrs running. .
Re: To All Red Sox Fans...
Yeah that's 8 more than your sorry ass team HAHAHA!!!
You win one WS and proved this last October it was a fluke and you think you guys run shop pleeeeease.
Yeah I'd like to see Tony Graffanino take you to the top HAHA!!!
Re: To All Red Sox Fans...
oh yeah nice comeback by the Red Sux for signing the wrong Johnny...Johnny Flaherty.
Wow that really hurts our feelings for you guys siging our back-up catcher who batted .127 for us. Nice try guys.
Re: To All Red Sox Fans...
