To win the biggest endurance event in the world of sport 6 times (provided there are no mishaps b4 Sunday) is a simply awesome achievement.
truly! and if i may take a moment...
seeing as i currently work in the cycling industry (and as a CTS support staff member for cycling training camps) i must add this $0.02 :
what these guys do, whether they win or come in 112, is amazing! riding a bicycle over 2000 miles in 3 weeks, up some of the tallest peaks in europe, and under extreme weather conditions (rain, heat, etc), with media scrutiny, fan mayem, team demands, etc etc etc is unparralleled in any other sporting category.
while the TdF may seem like the hardest part for the racers, it's actually the eleven months out of the year they are training/racing to get ready for le Tour. there is no "off season," it's constant training for year on end before you can even get accepted for a tour team.
