Re: Astros =)
those damn astros! nah congrats to them. they played hard and i'm happy for the old men (biggio & bagwell) that they finally get a trip to the big game before they retire.
Re: Astros =)
lovin it. fuck all thos ESPN analysts and all the other naysayers that thought we were done. and thank you st/ louis for being a gracious sport. the fans were actually cheering "lets go astros" after we won. bring on those fuckin sox!!!!
Re: Astros =)
i loved the cards stadium... its ashame its going away :(
Re: Astros =)
i gotta agree with Garrick.,
St. loius fans are great
they were congragulating the red sx fans in town last year, when we were trying to set red sox fans on fire after they beat us last year.(seriously, we were throwing 151 on ppl in ortiz jerseys and lighting the jerseys.)
Re: Astros =)

Re: Astros =)
Good Season STL. You guys are owe'd big time.
Now bury them SOX!
Re: Astros =)
Fuck yes. Oswalt was to the Cardinals what salt is to a slug. Nice season by both teams, however.
At least one Sox team needs to have a curse, and the Stros are just the team to continue it.
GO ASTROS!!
Re: Astros =)
gl in the world series houston ill be watching and betting
Re: Astros =)
i got to go with the white sox just because of my country man ozzie guillen .. go sox...
Re: Astros =)
jenks, toasty???
hello?
Re: Astros =)
Tough loss. Oswalt was just too much for us to handle. Que sera sera. I'm obviously bummed about it, but what do you do? I'm just happy I got to attend the last game a Busch Stadium and know I was doing it. Lots of great memories there, and, although I was there for Game 2, we did not realize at the time that it could be the last time we'd be there. That would have been a shame. At least we got to give it a proper send off.
And regardless of the fact that we ultimately lost, I'll always remember Pujols' bomb in Game 5.
Go Astros -- let us not have lost in vain!
Re: Astros =)
whu???? how you rooting for stros? figured you be a ozzie fan
did you write your goodbye message somewhere????? tell me you did.
Re: Astros =)
That hit was a bigg'in. I could not image that sound that bat made when it hit that ball.
"like a bomb going off in front of your house, just heart breaking"

rofmao-dick.
Re: Astros =)
dude, FYI, its a big thing this year for the fans to write a goodbye message on the stadium. being that it is unnecessarily re built. all over the park ppl were allowed to write memories of the game and farewells to the park.
Re: Astros =)
 enjoy your win. that is all i am going to say.
happy to hear Jenks will be playing Golf today.

yep, there are messages written all over the stadium now. I've heard stories of police even passing out sharpies to people to do just that.
I didn't though. I didn't prepare for that to be the last game, so I had no Sharpie -- and no police were nearby to give me one... :)
Oh well. The pre-demolition process has already begun, BTW...
Re: Astros =)
Also, the upside of bowing out now is that it will save me a ton of cash. I would have gleffuly continued to spend money like it was going out of style if they had continued to the WS, but ending the run now will save me hundreds in tickets, beer, parking and cabs.
Trying to find a bright side here, so bear with me. :(
Re: Astros =)
poor jenks.
Re: Astros =)
oh jenksyboy....what happened to that team you always brag about???
Re: Astros =)
oh jenksyboy....what happened to that team you always brag about???
Um, we lost, it happens. That's what you do when you support a great baseball team/city, you brag about them and put them on a pedistal, because it's really something special in this city, not that anyone else would know shit about it. Was a great season, i enjoyed all of it right down to the final game last night. We got to play longer than most teams in this league, i'm not ashamed one bit for the team we put on the field this year. Looking forward to next year, and i'll be bragging again, because we know we'll be in it every year. And it's going to be quite a different look next year too. New stadium, and a lot of new faces as i imagine there will be some serious retooling of the staff.
In the mean time...
Go Stros!!! Looking for them to beat the AL like the bastard red headed step child they are.
I love baseball in this town. Until next year.
Re: Astros =)
Oh, you know what else was really cool?
Larry Walker.
Yeah, he had a shit second half because he was in a lot of pain with injuries, but that guy enjoyed playing here more in his 1 year and 2 mos than his entire career in Colorado. When the team took the field again to say good bye to a few remaining fans and the stadium after the game...the fans started shouting to larry..."One more year...One more year..." And Walker lost it. Tears. His post game interview before this happened is what baseball is all about here, i wish i could find a video of it, but it was just a local sportscaster interviewing him. What he had to say i won't forget. Larry Walker is all class. Respect. I guess something good did come out of Canada, EH?

I remember being at the first game Larry played as a Cardinal. He was brought in as a pinch hitter right after he arrived. He came in to a standing ovation. As it turns out, he struck out. He left to a standing ovation.
Where but in St. Louis can you strike out and still get a standing ovation? I love the baseball in this town. Good thing, too, because the Blues and Rams are pretty much terrible this year...
Re: Astros =)
The Cards need Coleman and McGee.......
Re: Astros =)
People are hyped here in Houston right now. I listened to sports radio all day today at work and heard how excited everyone was. It hasn't been like this since the Rockets repeated NBA championships in 94-95. I went out too after the game and people were in a great mood partying all over town.
Hopefully, we can do well against the White Sox who are one heck of a team on a roll. And we do have a lot respect for The Cards too. They are a class organization and have great fans. I'm glad Oswalt made that Pujols blast not a series ending home run.

Go Sox, whatever that means
