Sad to see such a consistent and classy individuals career end without ever tasting the ultimate prize. I am in no way an Indiana Pacer fan, but I've been a Reggie Miller fan for no less than a decade. First ballot Hall of Famer and one of the best shooters the game has ever seen, but damn...I wish he could have just won one. :(

Re: So long Reggie...

solid player, great class, he will be missed.

Re: So long Reggie...

Class act all the way, always put the team first and was always a clutch player. He will be miss.

Also class act of Larry Brown to call the timeout to let the fans say goodbye and the pistons standing at half court cheering for Reggie.

Re: So long Reggie...

Yes, that was an extremely classy thing to do. Props to Larry Brown for realizing there was something going on that was bigger than shooting a couple of free throws. :Bingo:

The league just broke off negotiations with the players union about the new collective bargaining agreement, so you might just get your wish.

Re: So long Reggie...

definately a first ballot hall of famer... I hate the Pacers but even with that hate I still have to respect Reggie Miller and what he can do... If it wasnt for him last night it wouldnt of even been a game... Reggie is the clutchest shooter of all time... the best part about his game has always been off the ball and just finding ways to get open shots with defenders harassing him... everytime there was a clutch shot needed for the Pacers the whole crowd, and anyone watching knew where the ball was going everytime and REggiw still manages to find a shot and on most occasions score... best clutch performer ever... as a true fan of the game you have to RESPECT him for never selling out for more $ or to have a better opprotunity to win an NBA Championship with another franchise... an obvious first team ballot as he is the best clutch shooter to play the game... cheers :Cheerz:

Re: So long Reggie...

Yep...pretty much agree with everything you said. :Bingo:

It was one of those deals where everyone knew who was going to take the shot...everyone. So he would take the inbounds, spot up and drain the 3 anyway...with 3 people all over his ass. Look up clutch in the dictionary...you guessed it. :P

And his mugging of Jordan in the '98 playoffs was more than classic.

Re: So long Reggie...

yes he is a first ballot Hall of Famer

Re: So long Reggie...

Seriously, I put the "Hall of Fame?? Yeah right!!!" option in the poll not thinking anyone would actually select it. Smartasses.

#421537Post 13 of 23

Re: So long Reggie...

Abolutely yes...

He always made those hot shots that not everybody can... he managed to lead the Pacers to the finals himself.

Re: So long Reggie...

Just to stir the pot a little, here...

He will probably be a first ballot hall of famer, but i'd have a hard time giving it to him. He didn't invent the art of shooting the three, Dale Ellis did. He belongs in the hall of fame, just not first ballot.

I can think of several players that play the 2 spot like he does that you can't even mention reggie's name in the same sentence as theirs.

First ballot camp imo playing the 2 spot the same time Reggie is:

Jordan (duh) Iverson (double duh) Drexler Allen Mitch Richmond (equal shooter, but way better defender.) Kobe Bryant (hate this guy, but his talent is undeniable)

^I don't put reggie in the same boat as those cats. Guy deserves mad respect, quality shooter, carried that team for 18 years on his back. But he's got similar career stats as Jeff Hornicek, and Jeff aint no first balloter.

Re: So long Reggie...
Iverson (double duh)
Yeah...definitely gonna have to disagree with you on that one...

Career 3 point stats

ATTS 6,486

MADE 2,560

Career leader in both categories. Anytime you are the career leader in any stat (that matters, not turnovers :? ) you deserve first ballot entry. He did not invent the 3 point shot, but he sure as hell perfected it. And sunk more than anyone else, ever. And how many of them were game winners??

#421598Post 16 of 23

Re: So long Reggie...

if you're down at the courts getting a pickup game together, all the ones i listed get picked before reggie.

career leader in stats...stats stats smats...

he played for 18 freaking years, if he's half a ball player, he better be leading in some category!

hall of fame, yes, first ballot, no.

Re: So long Reggie...

^^^ Absolutely all the players you just mentioned are better players and have better stats than Reggie Miller does, but Reggie put his imprint on the game and on the NBA with his clutch performances. He is one of, if not the clutchest player to ever play the game, the only one who i think is more clutch is Jordan who is the best player of all time.
I dont see why someone wouldnt vote for Reggie Miller on the first ballot, he has done more for the game than any of those players (excluding Jordan) and has done things in such a positive way for the NBA. The only good reason that he shouldnt get a first ballot vote was last years playoffs when Tayshun Prince blocked his ass from behind to steal the game away from the Pacers, besides that play, (for a Piston fan like myself was a great play) Reggie has had an unbelievable career with continuing clutch performances for 18 seasons without any let down. Even this past year when he wasnt getting as much playing time he still came through in clutch time for a Pacer team that had struggles with having enough players all year. He is not only a ONE OF A KIND player but he is also the last of the class act players that the NBA is seeing less and less of. Lots of reasons to vote Reggie into the Fame, based on stats though I understand why he wouldnt be a first ballot selection as well, toss up that hopefully would go in his favour cheers :Cheerz:

Iverson??? :?

I hear you on "stats smats" Jenks, stats do not a career make. Beyond that, he will get in first ballot for what he meant to the game and the way he conducted himself during his time in the league....a role model and a model citizen. Plus, his feud with Spike Lee was classic.

Re: So long Reggie...

Fuck him for killing off my Knicks not once but twice in the playoffs

LoL, still a great player :)

Re: So long Reggie...

One of the classiest guys in the NBA, AGREED!!!

How many rings does he have?

ZERO.

When did he ever lead his team to a championship?

NEVER.

Second place, Thirs place...not getting it done.

You can't call him a champion, because he isn't one.

Fantastic baller, mad respect to that guy for what he stands for. Oh..and his twin, the announcer, he's great. :P

Re: So long Reggie...
Oh..and his twin, the announcer, he's great. :P
Dude...classic!!!

There is no argueing he does not have a ring, but neither do Stockton or Malone, two fellow first balloters. Besides, in his 18 year career name anyone who he had pulling some of the weight who wasn't named Chris Mullens, Rick Smits or Jermaine O'Neil. Even jordan had a supporting cast.

We'll see. Hopefully we'll still be on here when he becomes eligible and we can place a friendly wager.

#421652Post 22 of 23

Re: So long Reggie...

He'll get in ...first ballot. No wagering needed.

I'm just saying, he wouldn't get my vote for first ballot.

Cool, I gotcha. He definitely gets mine. 8)
