Re: Champions League Final: AC Milan - Liverpool

That was one of the greatest comebacks I've seen in any sport! Dudek was amazing in the second half, and what a save at the end of extra time. I'm so glad I didn't have to work today and could watch the match live during the afternoon. 8)

CONGRATS LIVERPOOL!

Re: Champions League Final: AC Milan - Liverpool

i rarely reply to the mysterious Pataky posts.. but.. WHAT? Milan was the better team for about 45 minutes, unfortunately for them a football match is 90 minutes and in this case 120, plus penalties. Milan didnt look to much better from PK 1. lol

better luck next year .. Since Liverpool won I think they shold take Milans spot in the UCL

Re: Champions League Final: AC Milan - Liverpool

Wow what a match! Sucks that being here in the states I have to work when the matches are on live, but I managed to blockout any news of the result and watch it on tape last night. And it was well worth it...most exciting match since the conclusion of the Man U-Bayern match in 99.

Dudek was simply amazing once he got warmed up.

Re: Champions League Final: AC Milan - Liverpool

you're having a laugh arent you chem? how can a team that was up 3-0 and lose on penatlies have been robbed? except for the fact on two of milans pens Dudek was about at the 6 yard box, lol.

Re: Champions League Final: AC Milan - Liverpool

He was well off his line... but does any Liverpool fan give a shit? Of course not. If it was the other way round I'd be pissed off, but credit to Milan, all the players and management have been top class in defeat.

If anyone really believes Milan were robbed.... they might have thrown it away, but robbed? I don't think so.

Re: Champions League Final: AC Milan - Liverpool

Dudek is a knob, the second keeper in Liverpools history that won the European Cup by cheating!

#426850Post 59 of 95

Re: Champions League Final: AC Milan - Liverpool

hahaha, thing is, it should never have come to that... 3-0 turned around, never been done before.

Liverpool in UCL next season instead of Milan IMO, or better yet, instead of Everton. How would that make for derby matches next season?

#426907Post 60 of 95

Re: Champions League Final: AC Milan - Liverpool

Remember the point of the champions league, it's not a tournament for mid-tablers, i'm glad they wont get the chance to defend their title as they aquired it unfairly.

Milan will be back next year, unlike Liverpool...

#426914Post 61 of 95

Re: Champions League Final: AC Milan - Liverpool

well, BEAVIS, we will find out in 3 weeks if they get to defend or not.

you are right about Dudek being a knob, he almost cost them the game numberous times and only started playing decent in the 118th minute. But, they do need to sort out their back 4, Traore and Hyppia are utter shite back there. Not that I am huge Liverpool supporter, but fucks sake, it's better than the bloody italian giants winning it.

what happens in 3 weeks? i just hope UEFA don't cave in on this one, there has been a big enough injustice to the game already with the result of the final

UEFA's executive committee are set to discuss the issue of allowing a fifth English side in the competition at their meeting in Manchester on June 17.

Pressure has increased on UEFA to include Liverpool in the Champions League next season after G14, the grouping of elite European clubs, called for the Reds to be allowed to defend their trophy. G14 was the body that forced UEFA to expand the Champions League in 1998 by threatening to set up a breakaway competition and now they have thrown their weight behind Liverpool

Sorry Chem... lol

Re: Champions League Final: AC Milan - Liverpool

I think it's ridiculuous that some countries' champions have to play 3-4 rounds of qualifiers, where some countries' 2-4 seeds automatically play. I thought it's Champions League not Champions and sometimes the 2,3,4 places teams League....

fuck uefa

Re: Champions League Final: AC Milan - Liverpool

it's 2 rounds tops, and only the top two in England go right into the group stage, seed 3,4 have to qualify.

Steaua Bucharest won it all in 86 and lost in the final in 89

#427032Post 76 of 95

Re: Champions League Final: AC Milan - Liverpool

I'm still in shock as to what happened to Milan in the final. Being three goals up at halftime, then losing on penalty kicks.. thats just whack

and another thing.... Why should Uefa help Liverpool get into the Champions League next year? Screw them i says. They didn't finish in the top four in the EPL and therefore shouldn't be hooked up by those Uefa sons of bitches.

#427039Post 77 of 95

Re: Champions League Final: AC Milan - Liverpool

... :|

they may have finished 5th in the premier league, but who can honestly say that everton are the better team?

liverpool knocked out juventus and chelsea and came back from 3-0 down to beat milan, how can you say they dont deserve to win the tournament, and regardless of league position, it just seems ridiculous to me that a team cant defend its own trophy... altho i suppose it is now the same with the world cup, so i guess thats how it should be.

#427041Post 78 of 95

Re: Champions League Final: AC Milan - Liverpool

if a "fair play" club gets a spot in the uefa cup, shouldnt the UCL holders be given a chance to defend their title?

yeah, but the world cup holders at least get to qualify for the tournament, and if they dont make it to the finals, its their own fault.

good points on them beating Juventus and Chelsea. They defo deserve a chance to defned the title. But if they don't no one can really cry about it, it IS the rules.

Everton better than Liverpool? it's debateable EPL from top to bottom is the toughest league in the world IMO. Not saying the EPL winner is the best in the world, obviously not since Chelsea was knocked out of europe by liverpool. But top to bottom, no other league compares.

thats true... maybe grant liverpool an unseeded entry into the first qualifying round.

Re: Champions League Final: AC Milan - Liverpool

What a night - this is my first time sober for a couple of days.

I'm not that arsed whether we make it into the CL next season (but obviously the money comes in handy) - the 5 European Cup trophies presently sitting in the LFC cabinet, the memories, and spirit/skill/heart shown by Gerrard in such an awesome comeback are by far the most important things.

As a precedent the Champions have always been given the opportinuty to defend their trophy - Notts Forrest and Liverpool were both in the competion in the early 80's, and Real finshed outside the automatic Spanish qualification league places but entered the next year as champions.

The lower league Champions (e.g. the Welsh Champions) are queing up for the chance to play Liverpool for the experience, prestige and revenue.

Liverpool have full support of the G14 European clubs that broke away and organised the CL in the first place ... so watch this space.
