Re: chelsea vs. liverpool

V good performance by the Reds ... shame about Xabi's needless booking (it always seems that at least 1 thing also seems to go Chelsea's way - I'm personally going to steal and incinerate Jose's lucky fuckin overcoat before the 2nd leg).

Carragher was outstanding and should have had a penalty after Carvalho draped himself around him from a set piece. Amazing save by Cech.

Agree with all that. WTF was Alonso's booking about? Toss. Now I'm just bricking it that we're 90 minutes from the final. Don't want to get carried away - I'd have taken 0-0 before the game, but it's still a better result for Chelsea than us, we've gotta win, they don't.

Carra was immense today, I genuinely believe he has moved past Rio and Campbell (don't rate him anyway) in terms of consistency, I'd have him and Terry in for England.

Roll on Tuesday....

Re: chelsea vs. liverpool

should be a cracker for the final, the semi between liverpool and chelsea was very disappointing, i was hoping for 2 great games, but didnt really get any...

all credit to liverpool tho, great atmosphere, and immense defending

best of luck in the final, i'll be rooting for them

Re: chelsea vs. liverpool

Yeeeeeeeeees !

Makes a change for Jose" I am The Special One"M not to have things his own way - that ball was easily over the line ... the over alternative was a penalty and red card for Cech.

Its about time Liverpool had some luck - Chelsea's CL campaign has been based on being outplayed by Barca but scoring from a dodgy set piece (Carvalho fouled the keeper), two deflected opening goals against Bayern, and cheating Alonso/getting off with another penalty appeal against the Reds in the 1st leg.

Carragher was simply immense - lets hope we can go all the way !

Re: chelsea vs. liverpool

Chelski got what was coming imo.

Fingers crossed we win the trophy, else no euro footie next year.

Si I'm as happy as you are and every Liverpool fan out there.

From the Chelsea players singing "RO-MAN ABRAM-O-VICH" on Saturday as they marked their Premier League Champions status...their billionaire oligarch chairman alongside them, soaked in cheap champagne. NO CLASS...NO HISTORY...IT'S ALL SUPERFICIAL...

and today...

FOOTBALL WON

CLASS WON

Liverpool, European History, Tradition, The Kop, The Mersey

Liverpool FC from an Arsenal fan.....YOU MADE MY FUCKING DAY

Re: chelsea vs. liverpool

Nice one Hos.

By the way ... although Chelsea won the league pretty easy in the end they didn't seem to do it in style.

While Arsenal haven't got to grips with the Champions League yet (for some very strange reason) their football last year in terms of passing and movement was simply awesome.

... and I'd take Fabregas over Makelele every time !

Re: chelsea vs. liverpool

Yeah Chelsea have no Swagger.

On champions league, we just don't know how to play any other way than we do in the Premiership. we need an alternative tactic, to keep it tight pack the midfield and play one up front to hold it up. it's no coincidence that our last european trophy came under Graham. Wright was suspended for the Cup winners cup final. we had a team of spirited fighters, not too many athletes in that side. up against the likes of brolin, aspirlla et al. the best parma side of recent years.

yet smudger smith did the business up front, scoring the winner and holding it up with the rest of the team battling keeping it tight.

at the moment we only know how to play with guile, slicing forward with our dynamic attacking shape. i think wenger has some interesting signings up his sleeve in the summer...

how must Owen have felt!? sitting in the studio watching his former team mates advance to the european cup final, Owen about to conclude a trophyless season. Stevie G TAKE NOTE!

Just have to say Jamie Carragher....what a man-mountain. If he can't usurp the Terry, Campbell, Ferdinand stanglehold on the Centre backs for England, surely he's in ahead of Neville, G. at right back.

Re: chelsea vs. liverpool

i think carragher is better than ferdinand or campbell :P

i must say, i think the goal was very dodgy, im sure everyone else disagrees, but i did not think it was a goal. that said, im very glad to see liverpool advance

Re: chelsea vs. liverpool

unfortunate loss!!!

The series was weak, I expected a little more than 1 goal from these two in two games.

well... at least Chelsea has the premiership. and the FA

The only thing british about liverpool is the name, no british players....

Re: chelsea vs. liverpool

I know something wasn?t right when I saw that Mourinho wasn?t wearing his overcoat...

But I was negatively surprised at Chelsea throughout both games anyway. Both games were crap, in fact.

I watch a lot of Premier League games here in Portugal and have enjoyed british football for years (in fact, the 1st football jersey I ever had was a Liverpool one!), so this half-final was disappointing.

I was rooting for Chelsea because of all the Portuguese guys there, but now I hope Liverpool wins this, I just hate Milan (and Italian football in general)!

Anyway, screw the Champions League, my team (Sporting Lisbon) will play the UEFA Cup half-finals tomorrow, and I hope our "sexy football" (as Ruud Gullit called it) helps us beat the Dutch again.

ALLEZ SPORTING ALLEZ!!

That's a fuckin' moronic thing to say mate. Watch a few games and then comment, he's been unbelievable all season, and people are at last beginning to notice. Except you, obviously.

Well said sir. Bring on Milan! If we play like we did against Juventus we can have them. Believe me, the atmosphere will be awesome, and the English will be the loudest there. I cannot wait.

Sorry for the thread hijack, but this is all I can think about today...

Here?s an email that?s going to people?s mailboxes all over the country this morning :

"TO ALL THE SPORTINGUISTA NATION

Today is an historic day for us, let?s put our team?s name up high. Whatever the outcome of this match is, let?s show our greatness, our history, our union, our name : SPORTING. In the hour of victory and in the hour of defeat, we have been and always will be the best supporters in the world, tonight let?s shout our name, our identity, our faith, our glory. Today we will cry for for our club. TO THE FINAL, SPORTING FOREVER!"

This shit gives me the chills.

Reminds me of how beatiful it was hearing the Liverpool supporters chanting "YOU?LL NEVER WALK ALONE" when the game against Chelsea was over.
