Re: these baseball hearings in DC

McGwire is live right now - just about blubbering thru his statement

Re: these baseball hearings in DC

they are all full of shit. if the players in question didnt do anything wrong why did they try to get out of going? and why would they need immunity? why are they all of a sudden 40 lbs lighter? And Barry having another op on his knee? lol.. amazing what happens to you when you cant use steroids anymore, or cant use steroids that you didnt know you were using. how hilarious would it be to see him go down and not break Hank or the Babes HR totals. whatever, fuck them, fuck baseball.

Re: these baseball hearings in DC

it really is sad when you think that babe ruth and roger maris and mantle did what they did in

 1. bigger parks
 2. softer balls
 3. softer bats
 4. no training regimen\
 5. no supplements
 6. as alchoholics

these fuckers have everything above and still dont come close to the old crew.

Re: these baseball hearings in DC

This pisses me off. And Selig is a smug piece of shit. I hope the league takes it up the ass for this one. They fucking deserve it - lying bastards. Why not adopt the Olympic rules? I guess we're too good for the rest of the world on political terms, so why not in terms of sporting rules too?

Very sad. I just hope the Sox all test positive. Which is prolly a pipe dream, I know...

i think its safe to say manny and ortiz arent on roids.

but mcgwire(??) and sosa are full of it. all these bullshit prepared statements and comments are a joke.

Re: these baseball hearings in DC

thoughts...

 1. Selig needs to go. Worst commissioner of baseball EVER!!! He's a fucking OWNER ffs! So what he put the Brewers in his daughter's name, he's still an OWNER! Not to mention this all happened on his watch. Hmmm, let's see, what else has happened on his watch...a TIE in one of the most watched allstar games...cancelation of a season...and a world series...the steroid debacle...contraction ideas...etc.

 2. Conseco pleading the 5th because he doesn't want to incriminate himself? OHHH, but it was okay to write a tell all book INCRIMINATING several of his fellow collegues? Worthless sack of shit imo. He's got zero worth to humanity. Die already Conseco. Can't even put his own balls on the line to back up his claims. Seriously, someone needs to off this chump.

 3. Sosa denying it, Bonds, McGwire, yada yada yada...the only person that has been implicated in this whole debacle that i've got respect for is Giambi, who sacked up, and admitted it, and cooperated with the hearings. It'll be interesting to see if McGwire testifies or pleads the 5th. I love the dude, but if he takes the 5th, i'm washing my hands of his whole amazing career.

 4. Opening day @ month away and all this crap...i just want to watch baseball. So sick of hearing about it, but i'd like some sort of resolution from it, which i doubt i'll get. I doubt any of these so called HEARINGS will solve fuck all.

annoyed.

Re: these baseball hearings in DC

so no NHL, maybe replacement players next season, and now Baseball going down the shitter. Whats next?

Whats sad is the kids coming up looking up to these "heroes" and taking steroids to get an edge, and by the time they get to the pro level, their idols will all be deteriorating a la Lyle Alzado.

Re: these baseball hearings in DC

from the ""things white people dont know that black and spanish do"" thread..

"" it is OK to smack the shit out of your kid"".....

dont blame the ball players for your kids... this hearing is way more geared towards antitrust regulations, collective bargining regulations and union regulations rather than what they are facading it as.

"They are not bigger than the game and they are certainly not bigger than the law of the land," said Kentucky Republican Sen. Jim Bunning, a former pitcher in the Baseball Hall of Fame.

Re: these baseball hearings in DC

if you plead the 5th, or decline to answer.. does that not make you look guilty?

#379009Post 16 of 22

Re: these baseball hearings in DC

yes in nature, but no by law.

I agree competely. Selig has such a conflict of interest. I want to see the old, meaningful records reinstated.

Re: these baseball hearings in DC

there was talk after 9.11 to campaign Rudy Guillani for Commissioner of Baseball.

i really would have liked to see that happen.

Re: these baseball hearings in DC

In these congressional hearings, what type of punishment would be imposed if a player was found to be lying, ie committing perjury?
