Re: 2011 MLB Playoffs

the night when the redsox got shut out of the playoffs might have been the most intense and exciting night in baseball's history. srsly, we can just cancel the playoffs after that evening. unbelievable.

Re: 2011 MLB Playoffs

In all seriousness I am happy for Jim Leyland. He's a class act of a manager. Honestly I just don't want to see Delmon freaking Young slither his way into a ring.

Re: 2011 MLB Playoffs

Tigers have the best team in the AL top to bottom and are missing a key member (Boesch)... i think the Yankees really had limited chances to win that game last night, just as many as the Tigers had... Leyland managed it just as he has all year and believed in his guys til the end... 79-0 or something when winning after 7 innings this year... talk about a great bull pen that really came allive late in the year (Benoit)... Yanks are done and now its time to take down the defending AL champs

Cheers :Cheerz:

Re: 2011 MLB Playoffs

wouldn't be surprised to see st. louis pull this one off. they've been on a major tear lately. i'd be really happy to see berkman win too. HOWEVER, i live in fort worth now and i kinda like the rangers.

whatever, i'm leaning towards the Rangers but i'll be pleased with either team winning. i'm sure jenks and toasty are on cloud 9. :)

What the hell? National League > American League. The pitcher has to bat!!

Stoked we made the WS, writing quite the baseball story at the moment. Gotta keep it rolling.

Thought this was a great piece on the matchups:

Re: 2011 MLB Playoffs

^ agreed, NL normally always over AL. can't help but get caught up with all the pride this city has for their new-found sports heroes. anything other than the fucking cowboys!
“Dancing With the Stars” aspirant Ron Washington
lmao, so true. the guy looks like he's done a line of coke every time they show him on tv. he probably runs 5 miles in place every game!

Re: 2011 MLB Playoffs

Just got home from celebrating in the wake of Game 6. Holy fucking moses what a game. Down to our last strike -- twice -- and came back to win on a walk off homer. People literally did not want to leave the stadium after that game, no joke. Absolutely insane. I happened to be at Game 5 in 2006 when the Cards clinched the WS, and were it not for that game, this would unquestionably be the highlight of my sports-watching career. :)

Re: 2011 MLB Playoffs

Had about 4 "last beers" after the 7th. This is the best hangover ever. Holy crap what a great game!!! So many story lines. I still can't believe Berkman "Cardinal Killer" is on our team, lol. The guy has single-handedly ruined so many Cards games for me throughout the years when he was with the Stros, now he's one of my favorite players on the team, continuing to do what he's always done- crush it in the clutch. That guy is a winner. If we win it all Freese is easily the MVP, kid has been getting big hit after big hit after big hit all throughout the playoffs. You going to the game tonight Toasty?

Wasn't able to scare up tickets to the game itself, but went and watched it at a bar right next door, and it was the next best thing. The wild thing was that because of the TV delay, we'd hear the fireworks for homers, etc. before we saw it on TV, so everyone knew when to get ready to celebrate. What an incredible run, I'm still just fucking brimming! :)
