Re: Foooooootballlllll!

It's so great to have NFL and NCAA football back in full swing. Despite living in a proverbial Loserville USA I have thoroughly enjoyed the first few weeks of the season.

Please god don't let the Vikings start the year 0-3. If that's where we are headed then we might as well be playing for a draft pick. Don't even get me started on the Gophers. LOL

Re: Foooooootballlllll!

Not much man. Just loving the fall season!

I did notice it's pretty dead in the SPORTS section these days. I'll be sure to pop into this area often now that the damn baseball season is over... at least in my neck of the woods.

Week 3 of the NFL is looking good with solid matchups on Sunday, Sunday night and Monday night. I am curious to see how the two banged up QBs in the NFC East will perform. I am sure Vick will be good to go, but I don't see how Romo makes it through a whole game. The guy sure played with a ton of heart considering his ribs were broken and a collapsed lung to boot.

As for my squad I truly hope McNabb can get on track. If we lose many more games he could be on the bench and our rookie QB will be out there leading us to 1st round draft pick glory.

Re: Foooooootballlllll!

How about those Lions!! Fuck I am on the band wagon hard right now. I see a 10-6 team here at least.

Even with that win against my squad today I still don't believe the Lions hype. I think they are another year away from making it to the postseason.

Meanwhile the Packers & Bears are playing out a sloppy ass game. Boring watch imo

i'm happy for the guy even if he is a gator! ;) he gets hated on too much for being a genuine person.

that audible he called for the 2pt conversion to get to OT was on point...

Exactly, I root for him now mostly because of all the hate.

so much for him being any good.... lol. he played like a rookie yesterday, without a doubt.

Re: Foooooootballlllll!

Funny how quickly the crowd can turn against a young guy like Tebow. The Denver Post has declared him worst QB in the league. See here:

Re: Foooooootballlllll!

our culture is pathetic.... people want IMMEDIATE results or they aren't happy. one bad outting and they crucify tebow....

#1560487Post 17 of 78

Re: Foooooootballlllll!

Unfortunately I think John Fox is simply playing Tebow now because he is obligated to. Since Josh McDaniel burned a 1st round pick on the Baby Jesus they just have to play him. My prediction is the Tebow at QB experiment will be over very quickly. He'll have to move to a TE/H-Back type position if he wants to stay in the league.

#1560488Post 18 of 78

Re: Foooooootballlllll!

agreed. i wish him the best these days. since he is out of college and is no longer torching LSU, more power to him. :)

Sensationalism by a newspaper? I'm shocked.
Sensationalism by a newspaper? I'm shocked.
It's not just that florida...the frenzy and fervor over Tebow starts and ends with the fans. After all it was a group of fans who had that ridiculous billboard put up in Denver. I don't blame the local media there for going along with it. It's print media...they gotta sell papers somehow, right?

I think this is what happens when you have an athlete who...

a) looks the part of a golden boy b) never stops reiterating and invoking the lord's name in his efforts c) wins at a high level, in this case high-school and subsequently the D1 college football level

If Tebow didn't walk on water and constantly reference God in his athletic endeavors no one would give two shits about the guy. I just think it's sad that fans are SO desperate for a golden boy hero that they'll buy into anything including this player who has little to no chance of making it at his chosen position in the NFL. Not even God himself is going to be able to fix Tebow's 10 second delivery.

#1560652Post 21 of 78

Re: Foooooootballlllll!

I think the bulk of his fans are still a fan. Denver is probably still hopeful right? Regardless of what the newspaper article says.

#1560655Post 22 of 78

Re: Foooooootballlllll!

I certainly think his core fans i.e. Gator Nation plus the whole Christian athlete following that he has are still on his bandwagon.

As for Denver fans themselves I dunno. I know they've had a rough go of things ever since moving on from the days of Elway, Shanahan and company. I just think it's amazing how polarizing Tebow is. All I know is that I am hoping for the best for him, but man does he catch flak like no other athlete.

It reminds me of how fast my fellow Vikings fans went from hating Brett Farve prior to 2009. Then 2009 rolls around and we want to build a statue with which to worship #4. A year later Brett was back to being hated by Vikings fans far and wide.

I know we should never feel bad for these very well paid athletes, but sometimes I wish fans would just have a bit more conviction in their support.

Re: Foooooootballlllll!

Bye week in Minnesota...at least I know that the Vikings won't lose another game this weekend. :)

I am hoping to catch the Steelers Ravens game on Sunday night. Not sure what's being aired during the day. Hopefully their will be a decent matchup or two.

Re: Foooooootballlllll!

Garrick you are such a homer :)

All kidding aside, your squad looked sharp last night. The plane ride for the Giants must have been brutal. I'd say the NFC boils down to your squad, the Packers and 49ers. Aside from that it's a conference of pretenders imo.

Man I miss having a quality squad to cheer for. From NFC Championship game in 2009 to a 2-9 record in 2011. Ouchie.

Re: Foooooootballlllll!

trust me, the saints were awful for years! i remember when i was in 8th or 9th grade about 17 years ago (yikes!), the saints were 8-0 and there were so many songs and commercials on the tv and radio and then they proceeded to lose the next 8 games and didn't even make the playoffs.... lol. the songs changed from promise back to the 'aints and "we're wearing grocery bags on our heads again."

hopefully your squad can pull it together soon. it sucks being a fan of a bad team. just hard to watch!

I give the Motor City Kitties a very low chance of taking down Who Dat Nation.

@Garrick you practically landed a first round bye with that draw!

Re: Foooooootballlllll!

our offence is the hottest in the league right now. It is going to be a gun slinging show. Calvin might be the difference.

It all comes down to who's defense can stop who. Also our defense just got lit up so I expect them to come out strong against the saints.
