Re: Sasha - THE ESSENTIAL MIX ARCHIVE Thread

Alrighty, that was a nice file! You got all my thanx for this one, I know it doesn't mean much to some, but THANX sbando

How about 078 or 079 next? The Holy Grail of sets is some good 1995EM sound. and we've only had the Que club from may on MS since the middle of 08 i think. I've been waiting fto sbando if i may add these and the new one from Circus to the first page.

Re: Sasha - THE ESSENTIAL MIX ARCHIVE Thread

You're the expert, if you tell me it's an improvement over the existing recordings I'll do the rest.

The files (a bunch of early EM's) are all available at The Mixing Bowl, torrent users can get them from there.

Re: Sasha - THE ESSENTIAL MIX ARCHIVE Thread

Xpert, I think i can laugh with chunky on that. But i do appreciate the compliment!

Cool, i've been banned from TMB. They wouldn't listen when i told them that cause of where i live the torrents i got could barely seed to others. So i was banned for leechin.

I would love to hear the last three HQ versions from 1995 for sure. All i can do is request them from you. 078 079 102

The First page is now updated to what we got, i sure hope that someone has the time to re-RIP the 1994 Studio Mix & Sanctuary 1996, also!

I think his idea of determining an improvement involves just looking at the kbps

Re: Sasha - THE ESSENTIAL MIX ARCHIVE Thread

Higher bitrate does mean more information, but I think what's more important is the quality of the source. That's why I'd like to know from you Chandler & Joey how good these files are compared to the existing recordings.

1995-05-21 on the way.
SOURCE: My own looked after (1 x TDK AD120) cassette tape ⇒ Abelton Live (via USB Tape deck) ⇒ WAV ⇒ Audacity 1.3.9 (beta) [Edited] ⇒ MP3 (via lame 3.98.2 @ VBR~0). No audio processing has been done to the original recording, as this is how it was when it was originally captured.

This complete Essential Mix has the full intro & outro and has been lovingly recorded, joined and converted. The sound produced has good clarity, no clipping and much less hiss, and is very good considering the age of the tape. It also plays at the correct speed.
Mega isn't working right now, HF is just as good.

New tech brings back old feel! Sounds like horrible one liner from a cheesy tabloid. Thanx to monkeyboyram, if i could i thank him on TMB.com. If they would do this for all the EM sets, Im sure it would be HUGE!

I have the flac versions of both the Holy Grail and Digweed's 1995-09-03 (my fave), the sound quality is stunning.

Files are huge, but can be uploaded in chunks with Winrar.
Higher bitrate does mean more information, but I think what's more important is the quality of the source.
Exactly! so what you really need to do ids find someone who recorded this 15 years ago and still has the original tape in good condition, or break into the BBC vault. I think the chances of this are slim. That’s Zen set is a good example of this, the 260 kbps version is without doubt far better than any of the 320 kbps. But people seem to think they are getting better quality from the 320 version. You can convert a lesser bit rate file to 320 kbps and all you are actually doing is wasting space on you hard drive.

Its' nice to finally have a single file version on this one. It would be the same for these two, they have only had files cut together strangely as far as I've received! I have it. Was listen to May 28th EM that was given here a couple years back, and its got a couple of splits. The time was 79:51, i think!

The other one from Nov Que is also split at the last track. Are these the same on the new versions and would you share so we can check on it!???

The file was originally given to me as so.

Live @ The Arches, Glasgow, Scotland 11-26-95 - 66 minutes Fast - 42+ minutes

 1. Phoenix - Rise Up
 2. Alcatraz - Give Me Luv
 3. Angel Moraes - Heaven Knows (I Can't Understand)(Galvatron Dub)
 4. Simply Red - Remember The First Time (A & G Division The Great Divide Dub)
 5. Sasha & bt - Heart Of Imagination
 6. Castle Trancelott - Resonance (briefly) Slower Speed REC - 24 minutes
 7. Simply Red - Remember The First Time (A & G Division The Great Divide Dub)(very briefly)
 8. Sasha & bt - Heart Of Imagination
 9. Castle Trancelott - Resonance
 10. Jayn - Lovelight (Ride On A Love Train)(Blue Wave Dub)

And am i wrong about the One One One sounder being one tape and E-e-e-ssen-ti-ale' being on the other!????

Should be! The Arches, Glasgow, Scotland 11-25-95 - 55 minutes Essential Selection Tour

Re: Sasha - THE ESSENTIAL MIX ARCHIVE Thread

You can't really compare durations, since cuts have been made by the people who recorded them, split or joined them. There are no overlapping tracks in the new version, it clearly opens with Tong and it ends with Lovelight fading out during the Spanish guitar bit.

The flac version of the Holy Grail is slightly longer, maybe bacause it's unedited. The last part, after BT, is no longer Sasha, just Tong announcing the next show.

Superwave, it wasn't the Perplexer mix he played. This was a f-up on the original Radio 1 tracklist and doesn't seem to have ever been corrected. It's even on DJSASHA.com wrongly as well. The mix he played was the Headroom Remix. You can listen to it here.

I've got both the Que Club EMs on tape from when they were first broadcast on Radio 1 and I just listened to this one again to double check.
