Re: Sasha @ Burning Man, Incendia Doom - 06 September 2020
Is that the new Pioneer? If it is then yes, it does have a sort of touch screen for added fx.

I need to find breaks track ID at -52:00+
Re: Sasha @ Burning Man, Incendia Doom - 06 September 2020
A lot of set are pre-recorded in these virtual festivals so I don't understand the controversy.
Re: Sasha @ Burning Man, Incendia Doom - 06 September 2020
Pre-recorded yes, so fucking what? I think he already shows to us and everyone else that he can do his job without pre-recording shit. .
It wasn't long ago everyone was taking the piss out of SHM for pre-recorded sets, and the Sasha sycophants would be harping on about how their boys wouldn't do that.
If if you went to see your favourite band and they didn't even plug their guitars in and the singer mimed all night, would you be happy?

I think that it is that the controversy is that it looks like he is miming.
Re: Sasha @ Burning Man, Incendia Doom - 06 September 2020
No controversy here, he had his reasons.
Re: Sasha @ Burning Man, Incendia Doom - 06 September 2020
Thanks. I will check it out.
Re: Sasha @ Burning Man, Incendia Doom - 06 September 2020
so it's a definite that he did this beforehand is it? What would even be his reason for that? Doesn't bother me either way but listening to it, there are a couple of small mistakes that I wouldn't thought he'd let slip by if it was pre-reorded. WOT'EVS.
Re: Sasha @ Burning Man, Incendia Doom - 06 September 2020
do people mean prerecorded like the stream wasn't live? or the mix was already done and he just played it and dicked around with effects?
Re: Sasha @ Burning Man, Incendia Doom - 06 September 2020
The mix was already done, etc.
do people mean prerecorded like the stream wasn't live? or the mix was already done and he just played it and dicked around with effects?
The mix was already done and he stood around pretending to turn knobs while it was playing in the video.
Re: Sasha @ Burning Man, Incendia Doom - 06 September 2020
it looks real enough to me, his effects sound pretty stupid though, it's like the same delay sounds on every song. kinda like when digweed uses that pingpong delay on breakdowns
Re: Sasha @ Burning Man, Incendia Doom - 06 September 2020
It's quite amusing watching him bounce round like some spesh needs I must say.
Re: Sasha @ Burning Man, Incendia Doom - 06 September 2020
So what are we saying ? Miming or not? Im saying it looks well suss. If he is doing its a new low for him. Peter Hook levels of twattery. A grown man bouncing round pretending to mix for 2 hrs is all kinds of cringe. I hope for him it isnt.
Re: Sasha @ Burning Man, Incendia Doom - 06 September 2020
Reading the chat comments in Twitch video, according to Anthony Pappa what you see is "proper DJing".

What's the track at 42 mins that got mute? [h=1]MJ Cole - Sonoran (Sasha Remix) [Decca][/h]

i think at worst he probably knew exactly what he was going to play. imo all of the knob twiddling lines up with stupid effect sounds. anyway, this was a boring 2 hours of the same breakbeat, floaty pads and keyboards, and chopped up vocals, it's not for me at all.

"if I went to actually see my favorite band"... But if they play wannabe online on prerecorded show, fuck it. why not ;) I'm pretty sure Sasha and most of the Dj's will not "playing" prerecorded sets in front of the live audience.
Re: Sasha @ Burning Man, Incendia Doom - 06 September 2020
I've seen him DJ 3 times over this lockdown. Once in his house, once in his garden and once at some beach bar thingy. In none of them did he act like he's got some kind of strange affliction like this. His whole act or whatever is going on is completely over exaggerated. Oh and that one on a boat too, he wasn't acting like he'd forgotten to take his meds on that either.

Don't think you're going to see anything less from Pappa when you consider he is responsible for his entire career taking off. You probably wouldn't even know who he was if it wasn't for Sasha. Unless you're from Melbourne of course.
Re: Sasha @ Burning Man, Incendia Doom - 06 September 2020
Pappa hasn't been relevant for 20 years. Yeah, his Nubreed was great, but there was nothing much after that.
Re: Sasha @ Burning Man, Incendia Doom - 06 September 2020
Should be a live mix against a green screen so they can take that away and do the animations for their app etc. Not sure why you'd spend the time doing a mix and then spend another 2 hours doing the video.
Maybe he was busting some moves so he looked ok when in the virtual reality etc. He rags the effects a lot on that V10 - also channel 2 seems to be the feed from the Eventide pedal (far left) being picked on that channel. Guessing track order was already selected - doesn't seem to touch the CDJs much at all. Pre recorded incl. video and broadcasted on twitch as if it was live later on.
Set is an example of why a dark club is better.
Re: Sasha @ Burning Man, Incendia Doom - 06 September 2020
A far about of the streams we've seen during lockdown are pre-recorded and then broadcast live, take Nick Warren's recent Soundgarden showcase the guy Dastan took 3 goes due to the weather.
A lot of djs don't know what to do with their hands during the streams either, there's a far amount of randomly touching the mixer with little effect - another reason why dark clubs are better.
Re: Sasha @ Burning Man, Incendia Doom - 06 September 2020
Diggers pointed out again this week 'You should be listening to the music not watching the DJ'.
When Sasha did the mixmag one the other year he just stood there with his hands in his pockets most of the time.
Re: Sasha @ Burning Man, Incendia Doom - 06 September 2020
I really enjoyed this set, thanks for the post. What would you follow this up with ?
Re: Sasha @ Burning Man, Incendia Doom - 06 September 2020
admittedly not everyone is killing it with vinyl peak time Twilo and Vinyl style. If anyone knows of such sets please share. I am thankful for these but hey who here wouldn't mind some more great music?
Re: Sasha @ Burning Man, Incendia Doom - 06 September 2020
The shameful bit here is how fucking stupid he must think we all are to think he could get away scot free with a prerecorded average set and farm it out as live. Words fail me

Its a great set, and great mixing.
But...surely,pre recorded. Im not seeing him select any tracks on cdj's at all. (25 mins in..)
Re: Sasha @ Burning Man, Incendia Doom - 06 September 2020
And he looks daft with all his unneccessary knob twiddling
