I recently came into possession of a stash of old Essential Mix CDs. The difference between this and what you're probably thinking of is that these are master CDRs produced by the BBC for distributing to overseas stations for broadcast (see attached photo). These are clean copies with no jingles or DJ talk over them, although many of the CDs do include [URL="http://www.mercuryserver.com/forums/djdb.php?id=155"]Pete Tong[/URL]'s intros and outros in an unmixed form for any authorised broadcaster to do with as they see fit. I was delighted to find in amongst my hoard, one of my all-time favourite [URL="http://www.mercuryserver.com/forums/djdb.php?id=5"]Sasha[/URL] mixes - his Creamfields 2003 set!
It's such a shame that there is only an hour of this, as it includes 3 of my favourite tunes from 2003 - Chable & Bonnici's "Ride", Starecase's extraordinary remix of [URL="http://www.mercuryserver.com/forums/djdb.php?id=1731"]Moguai[/URL] - U Know Y (still sends a chill down my spine whenever I hear it!) and of course [URL="http://www.mercuryserver.com/forums/djdb.php?id=5"]Sasha[/URL]'s own definitive mix of [URL="http://www.mercuryserver.com/forums/djdb.php?id=1409"]UNKLE[/URL] - In A State. Such a beautiful interpretation!
So here it is especially for you all - [URL="http://www.mercuryserver.com/forums/djdb.php?id=5"]Sasha[/URL]'s mix without any interruptions. I've raised the sound levels in Audacity as they were a little quiet on the CDr, otherwise (aside from converting to MP3) I've done nothing to the recording at all.
For those of you who use torrents - the complete mix (including [URL="http://www.mercuryserver.com/forums/djdb.php?id=155"]Pete Tong[/URL]'s half) will be going up on TMB in the near future, along with a lossless copy shortly after. I'll also be putting the lossless file up on Tribal Mixes as well - so if you're not registered on TMB you can find it there :)
