Steve May - biography

Steve began playing around with music at the age of 11, where in grade 5 at school he began making lots of noise learning the drums.

Early musical influences for Steve included: The Offspring, Blink 182, Pennywise, REM, Pearl Jam, Oasis and many more.

A love for alternative and punk music saw Steve in and out of school formed bands with his friends. Towards 1999, this flavour of music could no longer fully satisfied Steve's terribly short attention span. The idea of having electronic elements in music was looking much brighter and cooler.

Steve ventured into the then unchartered territory, Sanity Dance Arena, where he found his musical mentors - the likes of Timo Maas, Leon Alexander and Starecase by accident on a Hope Recordings mixed cd. Spellbound by Hope's insatiable groove, Steve found the means and determination to give DJing his full attention.

Having been released from the strains of high school at the end of 2001, and with a new computer at his hands, the production began.

In September 2003 at the age of 20, Steve clicked the save button of a newly compiled record he called "Open Day".

After seeking advice from fellow Melbourne producers Ivan Gough and Luke Chable on the next steps to take with this record, Steve handed a cd to EQ (Grey).

Now at the age of 21, Steve just finished up a monthly residency that he held in Melbourne along side rotational DJ's Aaron Roach, Benzai, Dean Millson, Ivan Gough, Jamie Stevens (Infusion), Jono Fernandez, Keltec & Dan Mangan, Luke Chable, Sasha Petrovic, Sean Quinn and Tom Pandzic.

Steve has also been working hard on new records, including several Remixes and originals. keep your eyes peeled for Steve latest record ?Blend Forty - 3", Recently signed to UK Progessive label Baroque. Steve Collaborated with Luke Chable for the "Blind at Forty-3 and Still Rocking" remix.
