Red hot canadian producer deadmau5 hits irish shores this weekend but local dj's better keep out of his way. The five times beatport award winner told clubmix in an explosive interview that he HATES dj's and think they're all fucking cunts.
Deadmau5 prenounced dead mouse said he will only perform live shows of his own music and thinks dj's should be extinct. he says "It puts me to fucking sleep to be quite honest, i dont really see the technical merit in playing two songs at the same speed together and it bores me to fucking tears and hopefully with all due respect to the dj type that will fucking go the way of the dinosaur id like them to disafuckingpear. "
joel continued, " It's so middle man, they're like fucking lawyers you need them,but they're fucking cunts. god bless them they're my number one customer right so im not gonna go diss every fucking dj, but to say you become this massive up on a podium performer by playing other peoples productions at the same speed as someone eles productions and fading between the two of them, i don't get it"

After reading this I would like to say FUCK Deadmau5. I hated his music anyway, but now I hate him as a person. I hope all DJs stop playing his tracks. What an ass.
and another thing I would like to add... Some of us enjoy some variety in our mixes rather than the same sounding shit over and over.... The reward is cheese... more like The reward is shitty electro cut up with way too many effects.
Sorry that interview just pissed me off.

I think the dude is brilliant, he released a bunch of short songs, 60 or so, off his hard drive, from a few diff genres, like drum n bass - and those were, as an example, some of hte best DnB tracks I have yet heard.
He seems like sort of a strange guy, you can tell in a video that chris lake made visiting his pad in canada to produce tracks. But for someone that hates Dj's he sure seemed to be having a great time playing his own songs in a show you can watch on youtube.
So I think he is somewhat kidding, I think the nugget of truthiness he let slip was that he only likes playing his own tracks and wishes everyone would do that. That would get super boring in itself though, thats the great thing about going to see a dj - what is he gonna play? no idea. Greenday is going to play their back collection of hits and whatever new album they are pushing. It will sound the same in one city, and then the next. But take digweed - his tour manager says he's gone around with him for years, and has heard him play "heaven scent" a grand total of twice. I like that.

Maybe this guy is having a mental problem , yes Mental , why should I hear a one Dj production when he can preform with more tracks with different production that could really fit for the atmosphere of the gig , do he think that by producing a big number of tracks so he is the best in music , he can go search for djs to buy his work and for listeners too , Big Djs who was playing music before he can even walk, Anthony Pappa as an Example , do play awesome music by playing his music and others too , and he got a very good ranking in his genre, for me he is No.1
do Zabiela look boring when playing many tracks that is not mixed by his own .
Do Cattaneo is a boring dj, Digweed, Sasha , Dave Seaman, Nick Warren , Steve Lawler , Trentmoller, Sven Vath, Martin Garcia,etc,etc... . are these ppl boring , I don't think that dead mause has got in my first top 50 Djs
So whatever this guy says , he is just losing ranking and listeners and he can keep playing his music for himself and beatport

His stuff was amazing, he's a fantastic performer, and it was one of the best nights I have been to in years...

Which genre? He merely refined electr0house and melded it with progressive. I guess you can call that an invention but it's been pretty brutal and is little more than a milking of similar sounds, repeatedly.

You guys seriously need to think about what he is actually saying.
Deadmau5 is Identifying what [U]most[/U] people call a dj " [I]a disk jokey[/I]"....some dude fading between two tracks....not some dude doing live modifications or being artistic.
Im 100% in a agreement with Deadmau5....if you want to be respected as a Dj you damn well better be artistic enough to bring something of your own to the table(s). If your up there using a fucking filtersweep, crossfade and some frequency nobs...you might as well not be there...computers can do that..and there is no need for some random guy on strage with both his hands in the air doing shit all. A real artist or performer is just that....An artist...and many Dj's are just disk jokeys and not musicians or performers.
The best Dj in the world is me (you)...because I know what I like to hear, when I like to hear it...but the substance itself...what is being produced. Thats something which requires others....

Let's not make him more important than he is. Had he phrased his concepts the way you did it would have made much more sense but nobody would have noticed, producers dissing djs is as old as the Milky Way. Since you're posting in this Board you're well aware that he's talking bullshit and there are hundreds of great djs with their own unique style out there and a few of them are also great producers. There are people like Gui Boratto who are similar to DM5 in a way but who are much more modest and respectful to the scene they're, like it or not, part of.

cobalt, i assume your comprehension of dj's(tiesto and okenfold etc.) is relative like most peoples(?), but the djs that we like -- around here -- are preceptors of mad skills and a vastitude of styles, and are all very creative/genius. gg k thx no re.

When I mentioned, Oak, I was only talking about his abysmal DJ'ing skills. Oak as Perfecto always needed his production gurus to get anything of substance done anyway.

I'll chime in cause I met him in Miami. Joel is just a socially inept DORK. He's basically the kid in high school that thought he was great because he was really good at calculous. But he was an arrigant jackass that nobody liked & got stuffed in a locker. Dead Mow Five is that kid. A dork that is really good at something. Not everybody likes his stuff, but for most, when he drops Faxing Berlin or "Not Exactly" (my fav of his stuff) the floor goes crazy.
I'll leave ya with a couple stories to show his personality. At the Ultra Pool party, he told some "joke." It didnt even really have a punchline or anything, but he loved it because he got to yell the word "cunt." He said it sooo fuckin loud too. Peopl ewere looking at him wondering what the hell was up with him. He probably should have tried his "joke" on some friends first (if he has any). Instead, he probably tried it out on a hard drive & some stuffed animals...
Story 2... My buddy Joe Bermudez interviewed him a few months ago for his radio show (MassMovement Radio) Now Joe knows just about [I]everyone. [/I]He had just finished up the interview & one of the dancers from the club came in the room all smiles. Mr 5 thought she was a fan coming in to see him. He got up with this "big shot" look on his pale face. She walked right past him, didnt even look at him, & came over & gave Joe B a big hug & kiss. They chatted for a minuted & she left again, still not even looking at Deadmau5. He said to Joe "I feel like I'm back in high School." hahaha, Sucka.
he did make a few bombs though.
