Some time ago we have split the free downloads from Members of Mercuryserver from “normal” mixes made from artists who are not connected with Mercuryserver in order to put more highlight on the mixes our members make. After watching the separate forums for some time now, we think the separation does not work. Some members do not post their mixes in the separate forum for various reasons and we had to move a boat load of postings on a regular base. Also with the mass of mixes posted here daily, it was impossible for the [ms] Team to catch every single posting so some complained (with reason) why this posting was moved and the other one wasn’t. Now we are moving back to what we had and will stick with it. One forum for everything is hopefully less problematic and we know that there is not the “one” solution for everybody but the decision to separate the mixes did not work as far as we see it.

Suggestion: How about a special tag for threads with mixes by members so they stand out more from the non-members stuff?

Good call. I added a prefix and edited all threads with member mixes on page 1. When you open a new thread, you can use the new option from the combobox left to the thread title if you like:

^^ already had to change 2 threads but I knew it would be abused in the 1st days. :lol: If it goes on, this prefix option will go away though so better use it reasonable. Your fate is in your own hands, members of [ms]. :p

The only real issue I have is the fact that so many sets already get posted in P & R section that the members sets will get buried, understand I could probably do a search for MS member sets specifically, still it was nice to have the seperation in another section, let's see how the new way works.

Would it be possible to restrict Special Download tags to only mods, and [ms] member mixes to forumers? Like why is this a [URL="http://www.mercuryserver.com/forums/showthread.php?t=59414"]special download[/URL]? :roll::lol:

We can just allow or disallow the whole prefix option for forums but not based on user groups. Some will surely use the one that's only for internal downloads but I hope after some time people will get used to which they should use and which not.

the next version of vb addresses the group permissions issue for prefix usage.... no worries, it'll be taken care of.

In the advanced Search you can use this option: "Find Threads with Prefix" and then choose the one you wanna look up.
