Dark prog has only evolved, I mean that's what this music's about right? Sounds to me like a blend between techno and house. And right now there's plenty of BIG dj's who are taking this sound to the next level, people like Lawler, Fortier, Audiofly, Dubfire... the list just goes on and on.

Anthony Pappa NYE 2002 cd if you can find it, someone posted a link here not so long ago. Best dark proggy set from that era I can think of.

So true. There is plenty of twisted dark stuff coming out at the moment. If you venture out of the prog section on beatport into the tech house/techno/minimal sections you'd be surpised at how much of it resembles the dark prog of the early millenium, albeit with a fresh new twist.

thats correct 100%, and its fine that a lot of people like it, but to many of us this new wave the Big Dj's are riding just doesn't sound very good. I think minimal sounds like a broken clock, and the new tech sound is pac-man gamey music.:lol: There are tons of excellent Dj's producing and mixing up some of the most awesome Deep/Dark/ and Progressive sounds. Its not dead by any means, and it will not die. Too many people feel as I do, and have left Zabs with his bleeps to the others who like that style.

Lets not confuse the evolution of music, with the changes that Dj's make for their own personal reasons. Deep/Dark/Progressive hasn't changed, its still cranking out awesome sound. What has changed is that a new style of music has been developed and a lot of people like it, so the Big Name Dj's are chasing it down to be on top of the wave, and to have the cutting edge music. For me, I don't like that cutting edge sound, but so many do, and thats fine. No cuts here against the music or the people who love it. Respect to all. ;)

I thought it might be a good idea to see him live seeing I keep saying I don't like his music. [definitely recognize his technical brilliance!] Then today found out Dousk is playing on the 9th Feb. I'd say do both, Zabiela then Dousk (so you can fall back on Dousk if Zabiela bored you to tears), otherwise, just go for Dousk. Zabiela is too much of a hit-or-miss, more misses. I've heard Dousk's sets and live pa and they all sounded good. Plus their productions are quality and tight.
