Re: Pappa in his prime.

Did I mention that I've recorded Pappa twice in the past fortnight here in Sydney - once at Sweetchilli and again at The Laundry last Saturday... ? Oh my GOD.:)

I'm hoping to catch him a third time in Barcelona in a fortnight. The guy has got some of the finest music on the planet in his hands right now ... so keep an eye on .AUdio on Proton for September for a release. ;)

We have Pappa and Phil K back to back here tomorrow night. It should be mind blowing, but no one records here :( If someone would tell me how to do it, I would!!

Just quietly Pappa is fantastic right now guys!!!

Re: Pappa in his prime.

Everywhere could do with a "me". ;) ;)

All you need to do a recording in a live club environment is something to record onto (I use an Archos AV500 - and I've found it to be excellent.. Archos rocks!) but I put a DI box between the mixer and my recording gear to ensure the mixer output levels are under my direct control - something you don't easily get when getting it all live. I have some funky super-long custom cabling that goes from RCA to phono and then another custom job again going from XLR out from the DI box to mini-jack in for the Archos. That way I'm also flexible if I don't have direct access to the mixer and plug into a sound desk instead.

Regardless - the recording stuff is not hard, it's more the lining it up with promoters and DJs and then getting the releases sorted out that's sometimes difficult. (Plus remembering to actually unplug all your gear and take it with you at the end of a long, large night!) It's definitely not that every recording just gets automatically approved or released; but the end results are often worth the hassles. :)

If you can be bothered then get into it, I say! There's so much good stuff being played if you know where to look... ! :)

[or laptop] It's certainly worth looking into though. We have some amazing nights that would be great to share!!
