Forums / Promos & Recommendations
In order to make it easier to surf this forum, we're gradually going to start creating subforums (by DJ Name) and move relevant threads into the subforums to make it easier to find the threads you are looking for.
We will start with Diggerz / Hernan for now and expand as required

Nice!...I know I have about 6 pages to scroll thru when I dont check the forum over a weekend. This should be a nice change.

i prefer the one forum also, but i check it regular so i generally don't have a problem

please let me know in advance if majority are against it and do not mind the cluster of stickies at the top. idea IS to make this place a little easier on the eyes and to navigate

I trust you bro. If you think it will be easier, then I'm sure it will be since you know how you intend to set everything up.
Having it together is important though, and not needing to run many windows open at the same time.
So many sets come thru here in a day, that it can be overwhelming if not here for a few days, so .... subs could be the answere.

digg/hernan can be subs but the other doesnt make sense

IMO - there will be WAY to many subforums then - and harder to find those sets you wouldnt normally pick up to try.
However, you could insist on a naming sytem that makes it easier on the visual search. EG Last Name, First Name title etc - so people can scan their favs very quickly.
Some users need to learn to use the advanced search function maybe?

No we dont plan on setting up more than 4 - 5 subforums, mainly those DJs who's sets / mixes that are circulated the most.
Huggs that naming convention will be a nightmare, its even tough for some members to post in the right bloody forum.

Exactly! So having mutiple subforms isnt going to help! :)
I can see s+d makes sense but not much else.

yes its just for a handful of the big name DJs, I hate too many subforums anyways so yes this is no option for me either

no boss, it seems its a big limitation of php as a scripting language and maybe future version releases of php may incorporate this somehow but right now its not possible. even though we run php 5.X on this server

i think its fine the way it is. i really don't mind looking through 3 or 4 pages to see if there's something i want to download. the dj subform makes sense to try and put up an archive of sets though

I don't see the need for subforums because most of us check this forum regularly and it's nice to see everything in one place.
The people who might use a DJ subforum are those who come here looking for something specific, and that's what the Search function is for.
Since search results are displayed chronologically, it's easy enough to perform a search for the topic "Digweed" and see a list of the latest Digweed sets posted--which serves the function of your DJ subforum.
Did that make any sense? :|

yeah i feel that maybe a forum for hernan and dig is fine but any other djs i would rather have just the one page....its not that big of deal having to scroll through a few pages

kamal normally i go along with ur ideas but i think this ones a looser, normally the sub forums get over looked and say for example there is a new jd set gets posted in the sub forum then someone posts in an older post in that same forum thgen its going to look to the eye ( @ a quick glance ) that there are no new material in that forum, or maybe its just the way i surf :S

well it will take me 2 minutes to reverse whats been done in terms of subforums. as for putting new posts since last visit can be pretty easy

that was my suggestion a year or two ago... but i think there are too many threads, too many people posting, and if you arent around for a day, it could be clumsy to read everything.

Well, I'm running 4-6 sets dL'n at a time usually, and I like to keep the page open til the set has completed. I have one PC which I use for music mainly, and the IE new one with tabs crashes this PC, but not the others. I don't know why I have that problem, maybe to much bad crap has infected this machine. But thats fine its downloading sets, and I don't care about viruses on this PC.
As far as the Tabs, I think it will save me time over all, with or without the tabbed IE. These threads and pages get to far out of hand sometimes, and I having a hard time spending way too much time looking thru everything here.
Love this place, but I have to have a life outside of my PC world too! ;)

kamal then if u do that to the quick links then that solves the problem with the sub forums, i use the posts since last visit all the time on forums, its very very handy specially for u mods
