I want to know what you're thinking, I have only heard really fucking good reviews on this latest one, but not a hell of a lot of them... So please, if you havent already, download her and listen, and then tell me what's on your mind... I am trying to wrap up the preparations for my next mix and I wanna finish hearing the responses to this one for any good observations that I might be overlooking... or just what really worked for you, or didnt... I'm really fucking proud of this one, it feels really good, but I want to keep growing and improving and diversifying my style.... so any thoughts are awesome, if nothing else, I'll be aware of how you felt it and thats what the music is all about really... Did you FEEL my mix? Feel me up!

Its my birthday week, excuse to party and require friends to be there and get off their lazy arses and DANCE! :)

I do. Do you have any feedback for my mix?

#444261Post 10 of 32

Re: Hot Spankin New Ableton Mix

will download it tonight @ home. then feedback will follow. :D

Re: Hot Spankin New Ableton Mix
will download it tonight @ home. then feedback will follow. :D
and then should you still desire a tracklist, you might get lucky...

out of curiosity, why on earth would you want a tracklist if you didnt even know if the mix sucked or not?

#444263Post 12 of 32

Re: Hot Spankin New Ableton Mix

I like to know what I'am listening to when I listen to a mix. that's it.

aha, I see... i am finicky about posting tracklists along with mixes when i am looking for feedback... i prefer the mix to stand up on its own feet and then if the listner still wants to know afterwards, i have no problem divulging etc.

Re: Miketpoto's birthday week is here, Ableton Mix Listen up!

I just have to go on record with this: I appreciate that you have been making an effort here to get your music out there and get some exposure through this site-I have d/l ed a couple of your mixes and think for the most part you have a good ear for tracks although I'd really like to hear what you could do with some turntables...I think from an honest feedback perspective you could use a little more energy to the mixes-something I think ableton robs far too many mixes of.... What got me-and I'm sure this comes from the Cielo Zabiela Hangover I'm nursing as well, but your whole tracklisting thing drives me nuts-its such a simple thing and you have taken a real stand to not post them. it doesn't make any sense and in actuality prevents me from listening to any more of your music. As a dj myslef, time is precious and when I listen to other people play music I want to be aware of what tracks I'm hearing because there is so much new music out there to simply listen to music and not have it bring some knowledge or awareness to me at this stage in the game just isn't worth it. And I've read your whole "I want people to listen to the mix and not judge it by the tracks that are on it." but I just don't think you or I or anyone on this site is at that high of a level that we really can just expect people to d/l our shit simply for the love of the game

Re: Miketpoto's birthday week is here, Ableton Mix Listen up!

Um, actually, you should check my latest post with my most recent mix, I put the tracklisting as available on a separate link. And I also don't really care if people choose not to listen to my mixes if there is no tracklisting, as that really wouldn't be any reflection upon myself but they who choose to not to listen, and their own personal reasons. I'm not in this to become some superstar DJ, or play any industry protocol games... I'm doing it however I feel as though I should and respecting other people's right to do just the same on their own.... and if the two should meet in-between then that's awesome, and I really do appreciate the honest feedback...

and incidently all of my mixes before may 1st have been done without ableton, so if you are curious to hear you can go right to this link....

Re: Miketpoto's birthday week is here, Ableton Mix Listen up!

hey mike, that's pretty cool bro. I also have a strange thing like that.

each one of my names has seven letters, Jeffrey Michael Collins but each also has two syllables...adding up to 6. Which is kinda strange. Life is full of beautiful occurances.

Re: Miketpoto's birthday week is here, Ableton Mix Listen up!

the mixing is boring imo not much happening

the volume level off the mix changes to often when a new track comes in the mix (this is a common issue when a mix is done live)...but if your mix is done on the pc......you have done something wrong

the tracks you used aren't my cup of tea....so I won't give you any comment on that

#448010Post 27 of 32

Re: Miketpoto's birthday week is here, Ableton Mix Listen up!

^^ yeah the mixing has its mistakes but they are minor... the track selection is GREAT imo

thank you satan, but I could have told you that goth kids wouldnt really enjoy the mix beforehand. I didn't use a PC fyi, and I shant go into futher detail except to say that I ask for constructive feedback, not to be shit on with no specifics to help in any way. i am aware the mix isn't mastered perfectly, and if you are serious about discussing this i would be glad to, but please have courtesy to introduce yourself beforehand.

Re: Miketpoto's birthday week is here, Ableton Mix Listen up!

sorry miketpoto you didn't liked my comment and that you didn't understand it was meant constructive

in ableton live it's very easy to get the mastervolume of a mix in good proportions I can explain it too you (hint: those faders at he bottom of each track can be used to adjust the volume of that track) but then you only would think I'm shitting on you

I can explain to you that your tracks sound all very similar, that you stick very much to a restricted part of all kinds of electronic music that's available. but ok, then you would think I'm a lover of dark gothic rock music, and that I post comments on this forum to make a laugh at those people who like dance music (and that I listend to your mix to torture me and my friends)

I could give you some some other advises. but I don't think you want to here them. so.....I'm only going to type what you wanna hear:

your mix is great. I played it the whole day. I liked all the tracks....can't you give me the tracklist....please....I want to buy all those tracks!!!!

so thnx, and I can't wait to hear you play live

Re: Miketpoto's birthday week is here, Ableton Mix Listen up!

LOL, I must give you credit for humor...

as for my track selection, that mix was very specific in its "genre" and is a departure from my usual mood I suppose, I dont find anything you had to say to be completely off base, just a bit abrupt and cold for a first introduction. I do enjoy hearing what people respond well to of course, but technical feedback is golden, I just prefer a slightly more personal approach wheen it comes to those things or at least a name/introduction.... anyway, I called you goth cause of yourr screename.... satan. umkay, at work here, ttly

Re: Miketpoto's birthday week is here, Ableton Mix Listen up!

mike,

you got a point there, my reaction was short and to the point....and therefor it could be concieved as a negative

to give you o more detailed (I'm serious here) picture of the mix:

It's a solid one (a didn't mention that my first reaction because i thought (based on the level of it) that you could define that for yourself

but being solid means...that it doesn't stand out from other mixes

by taking more risk....either on mixing techniqeus that you use....or using tracks that give you a own (diiferent from others) sound, your mix(es) would make more inpact imo.

when I dj, I always use the soundbite loop module. It makes perfect loops. and when a loop is running....you can throw it in the mix any time you want. It's als relatively easy to have 3 channels open on your mixer (2 decks and the loop).....and as you could guess...you can create mixes that stand out from the standard record after record mixes. In ableton you can do very much the same trick...bringing loops or parts of records back in the mix when you do not expect it.

but, you can only develope yor own style, if you like it this way then it's your choice (and seen by the positive reactions you get) a lot of people like it.

I gave you my opinion, you can use my advise or throw it away.....ok :) happy birtday by the way

greet from holland

bram

Re: Miketpoto's birthday week is here, Ableton Mix Listen up!

Thanks man,

actually there are loops from about 4 tracks that have been dragged and re-used later in the mix throughout the entire mix, mainly from the Rui Da Silva track and the soul Mekanik, but like I said, this mix is different from my usual style so I guess that makes it sound more like a lot of other mixes in some ways too. I am currently usuing ablton to play around a lot with making a mix that harnesses it's power and trying a bit of my own production mixed in with the bunch, but its still a long ways off as far as the production goes.... OK, back to work, :)
