So fooking good
Re: Henry Saiz _ The Labyrinth #17 - Roots of "Reality" Part 1
first track with pink floyd holy crap that is good.
Re: Henry Saiz _ The Labyrinth #17 - Roots of "Reality" Part 1
This mix is just ridiculously awesome,...and did Henry say there would be a part 2? I nearly lost it when he dropped "running up that hill."

Full of win. Guy's got good taste as evident in his productions.
Re: Henry Saiz _ The Labyrinth #17 - Roots of "Reality" Part 1
Is anyone putting out better mixes atm?, i think not, just love this mix
Re: Henry Saiz _ The Labyrinth #17 - Roots of "Reality" Part 1
Some parts admittedly a bit too poppy for me, but put together with panache with some belters thrown in no doubt about it

With all respect to Henry (who i know personally), i think a lot of other djs put comparable or even better mixes out there. He just happen to be an awesome producer too.
Re: Henry Saiz _ The Labyrinth #17 - Roots of "Reality" Part 1
^please list them. I'd like to hear their mixes and follow them on sc. I don't have enough time to find them.
Re: Henry Saiz _ The Labyrinth #17 - Roots of "Reality" Part 1
Try the Bob Moses BM set, or plenty of others found here on MS. Any set from Pole Folder, Guy J, Ricky Ryan, Oliver Schories, Eelke Kleijn, if you like more poppy stuff, you can try both Jody's shows .. he's got an excellent taste. All these guys have history of consistent quality sets they put out. And i'm not mentioning german elite around poker flat, innervisions, etc, ..
Re: Henry Saiz _ The Labyrinth #17 - Roots of "Reality" Part 1
Innervisions has been a really good source for me.
This mix , great music but the poppier stuff is spoiling it for me a little.
Re: Henry Saiz _ The Labyrinth #17 - Roots of "Reality" Part 1
Thanks for the suggestions. Following all mentioned except Bob Moses or innerversions.
I think Henry takes chances with his mixes. Putting tracks together that have a variety of sounds. For me personally, it keeps me interested. If it all sounds like the same genre, to me those mixes kind of lack creativity. But everything thats artistic is subjective. Sasha can be "poppy" at times too. At any rate I enjoy hearing different members opinions on mixes, it's interesting for sure.

Def check out Ricky Ryan. IMHO one of the most talented, hardest working and most consistent artrists out there. That Bob Moses set from the bus is also wicked
Re: Henry Saiz _ The Labyrinth #17 - Roots of "Reality" Part 1
Can you suggest a Ricky Ryan mix to me that is one of his stand outs? Cheers

To be honest Florida all his mixes are pretty much superb. he captures a difft mood and feel each mix, while usually keeping it slow and deep(different than his live sets)
2 recent mixes that really stood out for me was his september ssma mix(probably the only mix ive heard that uses and mixes in mano le tough primitive people properly, actually in a superb way).

His way of acting mix was very good as well.

You should listen to all Ricky sets of this year. They are all extremely well put together, you can find them all on his sc. And if you like more variety in sounds, Jody does that a lot in his radio shows, mixing poppy stuff even with breaks only to get back to deep house. He and Ricky are for me cream of the crop when it comes to selection (and as well mixing abilities, because mixing these slow tracks is harder than techno).
Also big names have been in a good shape this year.

personally think Ricky Ryan is all polish, no substance... sounds great in a hotel lobby though...each to his own though
Re: Henry Saiz _ The Labyrinth #17 - Roots of "Reality" Part 1
I don't know exactly why Ricky's mixes haven't jumped out at me yet, but Henry's has. Jody's have too. I've had the pleasure of hearing Jody live. It was border line spiritual. I'd love to hear Henry and Ricky live... Hopefully I get to at WMC nxt yr at least :).

That sort of amazes me. :) Ricky makes me ache  You need substance to do that. :) But you are right each to his own. :)

Giving this a whirl - what's the crack with the wolves

Loving the mix - uplifting melodies - magic

I used to like Jody W a lot couple of years back, but this summer I thought he'd ventured way too far into euro pop territory. Went to one night he was playing at and it did nothing for me at all; in fact thought he was dreadful that night (was around the time he released his album).... anyway obviously a decent dj all the same - just wish he could be dragged out of cheese land.... these days Nick Warren has a big edge over him imo
Re: Henry Saiz _ The Labyrinth #17 - Roots of "Reality" Part 1
^ From what I've heard over the last few years Nick Warren is very consistent and his sets are indeed very good..
Anyway, this Labyrinth 17 is excellent... waiting for part 2 :)

Have to agree ;)
Re: Henry Saiz _ The Labyrinth #17 - Roots of "Reality" Part 1
He created a really fun light-hearted vibe (Jody) at wmc a few yrs back... His mixes I enjoy listening to once..but sometimes his tracks are bad enough for me to give up on the mix.
Re: Henry Saiz _ The Labyrinth #17 - Roots of "Reality" Part 1
If you haven't done so, buy his album:
Re: Henry Saiz _ The Labyrinth #17 - Roots of "Reality" Part 1
This has to be one of the most amazing sets I have heard in a long fooking time. Truly original with a lot of old school sampling, simply amazing, if you know where all these samples came from which a lot of people have no fucking clue where they came from but I do so this to me is simply amazing can not wait for part two.
Re: Henry Saiz _ The Labyrinth #17 - Roots of "Reality" Part 1
Thanks for this
Re: Henry Saiz _ The Labyrinth #17 - Roots of "Reality" Part 1
agreed, another amazing mix from henry. he is in a class of his own.
Re: Henry Saiz _ The Labyrinth #17 - Roots of "Reality" Part 1
Part 2, I wonder how long we will have to wait?

Jody is generally more adventurous per the dancefloor and isn't afraid to implement pop appeal. I guess I am not in tune with your definition of euro pop because I definitely haven't heard much, if any, of that (if you're referencing those more overt Jonathan Mendelsohn vocal tracks that appeared on his album, I suppose that comes close). Cheese is subjective basically. I've heard complaints from a friend who thought Nick/Jody's fluffy vocal track, "The Gift," was cheesy, so one could make the argument that Jody has always had an ear attuned to "cheese," maybe more so in recent times, but all the deep and/or adventurous stuff in the middle has helped to balance it out. For a recent live show that might change your mind, see here.
I don't mind catchy or even poppy at times because this was one of the gateways that started my addiction to this music.
