This is a 2 hour mix I did. It was done as a demo for an online music site. Sadly they were unable to download it or listen to it so I thought I'd post it here in the hope you guys can give me a little feedback?? Thanks in advance and I hope you enjoy the mix. Xx

It was recorded on a pair of cdj1000s into a digital recorder

Re: Lights Out

I was surprised at how much I liked this mix. Deep house doesn't tend to be my thing, a lot is just boring and slow. Good track selection is really incredibly important to keep it interesting and danceable. Audrey you did it well!! :D Good track selection, except for a couple of fluffy vocal tracks. But hey that is just my bias. :) Really nice mixing, you sure this is your first time  If I had one criticism it would be that you could have stepped it up a little at times, you started too but didn't follow through quite as much as I would have liked. But this seem to be a fault with female Djs. Just not quite brave enough to just bang it out sometimes. Maybe they believe the hype that EDM is a guys world. :)

I have already bought one of the tracks on your mix, Orion Skies (Original Mix) Chaim Supplement Facts!! Love it !!

Re: Lights Out

Wow. It's blown me away that someone the other side of the world has listened to my music, thank you. Nice that you took the time and I liked reading your review. I like the fluffy vocal tracks :) I'd be interested to know what else you are into if you sometimes find deep house boring. More uptempo stuff? Nu disco? A couplew of tracks here have elements of the nu disco sound I would say, but "nu" is not really new at all is it? Certainly not here in London where it's been played to death for the last 3 or 4 years, i'm just using that as a description rather than pretending it's a genre.

I'm very interested to read that you think I could have stepped it up at times. It's hard to judge that for myself as i'm used to playing with people in front of me, the audience here is invisible and the feedback comes afterweards rather than being in the moment.

You've also hit the nail on the head when you say i'm not brave enough to bang it out. That is true. But, i'm not famous and I don't get big gigs. The gigs I do get are as a warm up for someone else or in a bar where banging it out isn't really what they are after. So, that seems to have become the way I play. "always the bridegroom, never the bride" as the old saying goes.

"EDM is a guy's world"? - Certainly not at the parties I go to. I cringe at the term EDM. SEems this forum has very few females, I wonder why??? MAybe we can change that? Ooooo yes, I like that Chaim track

Thanks again DIDID xx

Re: Lights Out

@ Audrey_w: Yes EDM is pretty much men's world, but you shouldn't worry about that hun as long as the audience is listening and appreciating your sound. And also yes, we have very few females djs in this forum but they are good as they surely know what they are doing :) My advise to you is: find your own sound, make sure you know well your mixing rules so that you can bend them, and all the rest is history! Other than that, do not worry about a thing, you keep on rolling those mixes of yours and you will have full support from the right people: We will back you up sis ;)

Thanks again DIDID xx
My preferred genre is definitely progressive, I loved it even before I knew what it was. !! First event I ever went too I ended up in the progressive room.

Maybe I shouldn't have said bang it out so much as just take it up a bit here and there, then maybe bring it back down for the main dj :)

I didn't say it EDM is a guys world , I said hype :) I strongly believe that even though it is harder for females to get into there is definitely room for females as well.

Now why do you cringe at EDM?? Isn't electronic dance music what we all love ??

Re: Lights Out

Although I was only joking I should have had a listen before I said what I said. I found myself listening to this thinking "man I wish I could mix like this".
