I have to admit, I haven't been the biggest fan of James Lavelle ,in fact I have been known to leave the room because I couldn't handle his mixing. But this a collaboration between him and Charlie May  It's bloody brilliant. !! :D Really, really great party mix. Sound quality is pretty stunning as you would expect from anything Charlie May had anything to do with . :)

Unfortunately Flutes is in it

Re: James Lavelle presents Living in my Headphones pt 1 'A Night's Interlude' (HYPETR

Top mix. Interesting collaboration between the two. I assume Lavelle is responsible for the track selection and the heavy vocal influence.
You're from Sidney, you're very brave.

I ended up playing this three times yesterday, and it sounded better every time. One of the reasons I think I liked it so much was just the sheer quality of the recording. It sounded so good on my home stereo. !! :D Definitely Charlie's work !! :D

Agree feather , the heavier vocal presence would have been Lavelle, but most are good. His talent is track selection though, with a couple of exceptions here. ;) The programming, which is Charlie, is wonderful. !! :D

One thing someone on my local forum bought up. Why does Charlie always play second fiddle.?? This mix could not possibly have been what it is without him. He did all the hard bits

this is like the 2nd or 3rd mix JL as done and called it Part 1 with no Part 2... what the ef JL?

Re: James Lavelle presents Living in my Headphones pt 1 'A Night's Interlude' (HYPETR

What does it mean when it says programmed by Charlie May? Does it mean Charlie chose the order of the songs, whereas both of them did the track selection and the mixing?

#1672979Post 18 of 80

Re: James Lavelle presents Living in my Headphones pt 1 'A Night's Interlude' (HYPETR

Programming a mix means planning track order, cue points, transitions, etc.*

I SUSPECT that May is a better "programmer" than Lavelle (who can't mix).

lavelle is old skool, i have seen him open for sasha and dig a few times back in the day. he gets a bad rap by too many people regarding his skills, it gets old.

if you like this then i also recommend his dazed and confused one which is really good too. his other one called "unkle sounds - the end" has some good parts too

^^ James has a reputation as playing amazing and wonderfully unexpected music. I believe that is his priority, I doubt mixing is , which is why this is a great collaboration. !! :D

The night I walked out I actually came back and heard an hour of that amazing and wonderfully unexpected music that blew me away. :)

Agreed... JL is a musical genius but when it comes to DJing... not so much. Seems like he tries to cater to big clubs, breakbeats, etc.. and it just isnt his M-O... liked his early Breezeblock sets, very eclectic and good.

and TBH, I didnt really care for any of his GU's either.. his UNKLE mixes though are phenomenal.

I still have yet to give this one a whirl... been addicted to a few Hidden Orchestra mixes lately.
