I ran a quick search online for this mix and couldn't find a link. If anyone has a decent quality download I'd appreciate it, thanks!

Re: Request: 1995 EM Oakenfold
apparently it is a 2xCD compilation released in 1995:
Tong* / Cox* / Sasha / Oakenfold* - Essential Mix (CD) at Discogs
Re: Request: 1995 EM Oakenfold
thx ddr, i'll have a easier time tracking it down now.
Re: Request: 1995 EM Oakenfold
The cd is not an official release, I'll upload the Goa Mix in a restored version if I can find it.

if its the mix that is associated with that picture in the youtube link - then yes its a formal retail release - (one of the first cds I ever bought)

if its the radio essential mix - then of course its as fine.
Re: Request: 1995 EM Oakenfold
That was staple listening in 1995, there wasn't a great deal else out there
Re: Request: 1995 EM Oakenfold
I had never heard it before, and when I searched for the EM recording the tracklist was different. Cheers for the help mates.
Re: Request: 1995 EM Oakenfold
No, it's not that one, Huggie, I have it too. I think Chunky has already explained the story of the Goa CD and there's documentation at Discogs and Google.
Anyway, it was broadcast as a normal Essential Mix, you could usually find a version with annoying static noises at the beginning. Then alternative rips surfaced.
Welcome to tonights Essential Mix I'm Pete Tong and tonight we take you on a bit of a fantastic voyage as Paul Oakenfold presents our "Goa Mix". Although firmly marked down on the hippie trails since the early 60's it's only in the last few years that Goa, in India, has become the place to go each winter if you're a serious fan of dance music and wish to seek out those now legendary full moon beach parties which draw ravers, hedonists and back-packers from all over Europe. Most of us, me included, probably wont be going so we thought we would stage a 'Full Moon Party' live on One FM. We are all on the guest list and we are not going out................Standby....."
back to its full 2 hours
This is just one 2 Hour MP3
A cuesheet is included to split the mix into the tracks above. It is also embedded in the mp3 file.
TECH Info: Original Capture to 3 Hour VHS Cassette 1996-09-15 from Sony AV FM reciever (external ariel) Transfer to PC using Philips Nicam stereo VCR to M AUDIO 1010LT soundcard Captured using Adobe Audition 2 Cue points set in Adobe Audition 2

Re: Request: 1995 EM Oakenfold
can you tell me at what point in the GOA EM this starts? I don't think it's the same.

Ok now I'm really confused. Why did you post the GOA EM? The mix I posted is a part of this mix? I've heard the GOA EM before, I've not heard the tracks from the mix I posted on it . Or am I missing something?
Re: Request: 1995 EM Oakenfold
Maybe I'm dreaming but I replied to this thread thinking it was a request for Oaky's GOA Mix. Wtf? -I'm gon blind.
Anyway, the retail cd is inspired by two EMs from 1995:

It's still the ol' Goa Mix, people won't be hurt by listening to it.

A mix of Progressive, House and Hard House. Paul Oakenfold, Pete Tong, Carl Cox and Sasha each put in a studio mix for BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix series. This four installment series was from May 1995 and ranks with me as one of my all time favourite Essential Mix sessions. Each has a unique style but for my money Sasha and Carl Cox's mixes are the best.
1.) Evoke - Runaway 2.) In Aura - Coma Aroma 3.) Brothers Grimm - Survive 4.) The Prodigy - Skylined 5.) Man With No Name - Floor Essence 6.) Grace - Down to Earth 7.) Utah Saints - Star 8.) Virus - Sun
