Re: Martin Garcia DeltaFM January 27th 2012
Thank you for that .I've google translated if anyone wants.
But I have to say, every time I read an interview from Martin I get annoyed. It's always about what he likes. Unless you are Nikon  He gives us fuckall. I respect that he doesn't do the twitter thing, although he does do facebook , but he announces events on the day ???? He doesn't seem to care whether his fans actually get to hear him as long as he gets pleasure out of making the music.
And this is just sheer arrogance !! "no one could imagine that I get excited when I hear a piano note or I like to cook and take a walk my dog." WE are people who love music, and we love his music, why wouldn't we be able to imagine, and feel, this as well. ???
Strangely, and fortunately, enough, the person who helped him the most DOES want to share with us. And this probably what pisses me off the most, it's because of the good graces of people like Hernan who DO want to share the music that Martin has the luxury of being able to live off his music!!
Btw We have got to a stage with these that I am buying extra bandwidth, which I am more than happy with because it means a lot more people get enjoy his music. Plus it's a very small amount :) But I figure that gives me the right to have a bit of a rant.
Jeez it would be so nice if copy and paste worked well on this site again
Re: Martin Garcia DeltaFM January 27th 2012
DIDI if you want to know my 2 cents...
When I met the guy (MG) I felt oddly uncomfortable..? Was it the language barrier I dunno? But at Bahrein Club when max420 wanted his johnny hancock on an Argy Rugby jersey as life long reminder of his greatness & our pilgrimage to see him play live, he looked at me with what I can only describe as contempt/ confusion/ disgust. I don't know, I'd flown half way across the world to see the guy & he fobbed me off like some freak, weirdo peasant.
Yes his music is simply tremendous, and his productions are generally top shelf by all standards of modern electronic dance music. Your rant in none the less valid because as you mention Hernan's following in Argentina is incredible, like the rivalry between Boca Juniors & River Plate, and you are right it IS a luxury to live off making music.
When I hear artists such as Selami have to pour so much money into record label projects that ultimately are consumed by Beatport/ Release Promo fees, to the point of shutting down I grow weary. That is, I know so many people are ultimately moved by the releases/ scene in general that it staggers me to realise the music industry is so unforgiving when it comes to the bottom line.
Alas I thank you wholeheartedly for your efforts in bringing us these sets, and will always be grateful to those for the great music that fills the otherwise empty void of my meagre existence. That is all.
Re: Martin Garcia DeltaFM January 27th 2012
Hernan supports Martin incredibly . He obviously considers him a very close friend, but I'm sure he really values Martin's talent . But Hernan knows the value of being International , and I'm not talking monetary, it really is about getting as much music shared as possible. It's giving as against taking I think.
I always thought Martin might be shy , he is certainly introverted. I hope that is all. Did you get the signature. ??
Re: Martin Garcia DeltaFM January 27th 2012
No I didn't get a signature, and the whole experience left me feeling quite perplexed. In Australia our sportsmen, when they're handed something and a marker pen the first thing they think to do is scribble their signature on it (leaving one's mark in a gesture of autograph). Not Martin.
Like I said I dunno what it was..? He probably thought we were stakers since we; bumped into him on the tarmac at Jorge Newberry Airport, caught the same dodgy Aerolineas Argentina flight to both Tucuman & Rosario (in the same week almost), as well as that night in Bahrein (club).
Anyway I totally agree with you about the value of being international and only regret not having a better understanding of Spanish to articulate myself, instead of looking like a dumb Aussie star-struck by being in the man's pressence and asking for his autograph. Never the less I like to think I'm not jaded by the whole experience as I got to meet some of my most favourite Argy dj's, who will probably never travel to Australia to play (Gerado Boscarino, Fernando Ferreyra etc).
Although I can only but hope one day they, like Hernan, will bravely venture to our distant shores. It certainly is giving against taking!
Re: Martin Garcia DeltaFM January 27th 2012
You sure you weren't stalking  Seriously , if he was on your agenda there was a fair chance you would run into him. I'm willing tto travel to see them, but letting us know on the day of the gig is just not going to work for me
Re: Martin Garcia DeltaFM January 27th 2012
I know! ;)
I found the whole Surface Booking website quite confusing, and not playing at Creamfields Bs As 2011 well that's another debate entirely. At the end of the day I guess he (MG) does what does and as a fan I either can accept it or not. Either way I'm not fussed because thanks to being apart of this community I follow many artists, and don't simply worship the odd few.
Btw my agenda in going to Argentina again wasn't just to see MG, although it was a highlight. South America is an amazing place and spending over a month there was incredible. I just wish we had a radio station like Delta FM here where I live!
Re: Martin Garcia DeltaFM January 27th 2012
The eternal discussion about why martin do this or does not do that.
Re: Martin Garcia DeltaFM January 27th 2012
^^^ It will keep happening as long as we love his music. We would much rather be talking about how great the set we saw/heard last night was. ;)
Re: Martin Garcia DeltaFM January 27th 2012
And guess what ???. This weeks is a rebroadcast from 22nd July 2011 .It was a really great mix but I think this is the fourth rebroadcast
Re: Martin Garcia DeltaFM January 27th 2012
wow. four in a row. not sure i can ever remember that long of a wait before, but then again from April 2008 till late 2010 we had just about nothing from him so I cant really complain too much.
Re: Martin Garcia DeltaFM January 27th 2012
Not 4 in a row, they were spread over the last few months. :)
Re: Martin Garcia DeltaFM January 27th 2012
Thanks anyways....
