Well you know what they say. Once stupid, twice stupid, three times lucky I guess.
Here we go war #3
Re: Libya
Oh Libyans, prepare for the horrors of war, that will be unleashed onto you by the pro war, pro terrorist scum that occupy the governments of the US, Britain, France and all those involved.
Prepare for your innocent men, woman, children that will be starved, slaughtered and incinerated by Satan and his helpers. Prepare for the destruction of your infrastructure, health, resources, economy, education, culture and dignity.
God help you all.
Re: Libya
Granted its a little early to say what will happen in the end (speaking about the potentially unfortunate loss of life) but at least the ant-Gadhaffi Libyans are happy their idiotic ruler has been handed the short side of the stick.
http://www.cnn.com/2011/WORLD/africa/03/18/libya.civil.war/index.html?hpt=C1
One thing I remember getting a chuckle about is Ghadaffi's claim that Taliban insurgents were getting the young generation high on illicit drugs and brainwashing them into an uprising.

To me that is equally funny as a bunch of ppl in a cave successfully attacking the WTO without any serious help...
Re: Libya
Yes, the Libyans will welcome the destruction of their country with open arms and roses.
Sound familiar?

Seems to me they think their current leaders are doing that. Hence the revolt, no?
Re: Libya
I guess quoting another response in this thread that was directed to me would be apt at this point no?

Kamal you can respond to someone when they call you out. But then others will wonder why you are allowed on the board and why you haven't been suspended yet.

This is what they have now under Quadaffi.
Kamal you can respond to someone when they call you out. But then others will wonder why you are allowed on the board and why you haven't been suspended yet.
well for one, if I'm not allowed on the board, I won't pay for the server so we won't we be having this conversation :p
But jokes aside, I really feel the need to say this because clearly, not only is the conflict in Libya being clearly mis-understood, its turning personal for apparently bizarre reasons.
the only reason I said what I did earlier in this thread is because I genuinely genuinely feel for innocent people dying. I am emotional, I'm emphatic and I'd help a total stranger out if I was certain the need was genuine. People who know me personally know how little I care for money, power or wealth, and LEAST of all, politics or the US's control over anything else in the world. Being passive is in my genes and culture (on the macro end of things).
So when I say someone needs to get in there and stop the bloodshed of the innocent, and that someone - hint hint the US - because A) they have the means and courage to do it - be it right or wrong and B) there hasn't been any other country on the planet (in recent times) that has come to the (armed) aid of another country (whatever the reasons may be),
then, not only is it downright ridiculous to presume that I (me personally) am for armed conflict and want the US to get involved so that the US can benefit from it, but it's even worse that no one sees what Ghadaffi is doing is similar to the accusations people levy on the US (i.e. milked the shit out of a/the nation for personal gain) and what is downright disastrous is that I haven't seen a single comment about what this cunt has done and continues to do, which is far far WORSE because he's doing it to his own people so he can continue to amass all his wealth.
People talk about the West, about the US, Britain, etc. but no one seems to care that an initially bloodless uprising was turned bloody when bullets and rockets were being fired into innocent people who are now turning into an armed militia to free themselves.
And the best I have seen so far as a reason for someone not going into Libya to help these people out is a history lesson on US's lousy foreign policy and decisions of the past.
Seriously?
Re: Libya
^well said.
especially this:
People talk about the West, about the US, Britain, etc. but no one seems to care that an initially bloodless uprising was turned bloody when bullets and rockets were being fired into innocent people who are now turning into an armed militia to free themselves.

Seriously?
A lot of people on this forum have this hatred for everything that is USA (cue chunky, dig72 et all WMDs IRAQ BUSH) that blinds them from realizing what was actually happening over there before the bullets started to fly, like Quadaffi is this nice fella we all should want to go have tea and scones with and chat about soccer and good times and all the great stuff he's doing for his people. I know the UN/USA has done a lot of questionable imperialistic things in the past, but for once I think all the allies got this one right.
Re: Libya
just for the record
And now you tell me it isn't worth it for ANYONE to go in and help those guys out. Shit I heard an interview on NPR where they managed to get a phone conversation with an english speaking resident in Libya who was locked up in her Apartment with her family. She (and her entire family) were ready to die to get this guy out of power and her sister and the sister's family was returning to Libya to join in the liberation efforts and were ready to sacrifice the entire family's life in the process.
If seemingly simple/regular people like this are ready to die for freedom, shouldn't SOMEONE who can deliver it to them be involved? JUST SO they have a chance to experience it?
Re: Libya
Oh I'm sure the Libyan people are just begging for NATO to come in after what happened in Iraq. They must realize that "these guys" don't leave..... Ever!

I'm sure they are.
Re: Libya
hahahahaha... ya I bet
maybe NATO can kill 1 million in Libya just like Iraq. It will make the killings now look like nothing.
hahahahaha... ya I bet

The standard conspiracy theorist black or white view is strong here I sense. Libya is a total different situation than Iraq you might think yes?
Re: Libya
Oh I'm sure the Libyan people are just begging for NATO to come in after what happened in Iraq. They must realize that "these guys" don't leave..... Ever!
so what would you rather prefer? Let Libyan's die without a fighting chance at the hands of their moronoic leader? I want to know what you feel about how you would rescue those who you think deserve a chance?
Re: Libya
What do you want me to say? I am hearing the same rhetoric as Iraq.. They want us there to help.. we will be viewed as liberators.. we must help people fighting for freedom.. they are just begging - bomb us, bomb us please
How do you guys STILL buy this shit?? They want Libya's oil just like Iraq. Why isn't NATO helping stop the killings in the Ivory Coast? or Sudan?
Revolutions must be done by the country internally. That is the only way. Yes many will die fighting and it's sad but having NATO come in isn't going to solve their problems.
Re: Libya
Well if you choose not to ignore the contents of my post, you won't ask this.
As for the same lame oil argument, EVERYONE wants it .... including those in power in Libya. So let's hold back on that thought.
Re: Libya
I can't wait to hear about these "surgical strikes." I didn't ignore it I answered it. It must be done internally
Re: Libya
lame oil argument? Wow

The oil argument really is getting old.

so is bombing oil rich countries.. that is getting real old.

Re: Libya

Give it up dude. Lame argument is lame.
Re: Libya
I love how if you say it is lame we should just give up the argument... of course they are going there for oil.. only a fool thinks this is humanitarian.
Re: Libya
dude who the hell isn't profiting off of Oil in today's world, be it for righteous reasons or not. Majority of the oil rich areas of the Middle East were nothing but camel herding before 1950, OIL is in the TOP 5 exports of Canada, Ghadaffi's wealth is presumed to run into hundreds of Billions thanks to Libya's oil...so if everyone has an agenda and there are NO FREE LUNCHES, let go of the OIL argument already.
It seems you're all ok for Ghadaffi to keep his killing spree fueled for the sake of personal gain via domestic oil exports but even if someone appears to want to protect the Libyan innocent people, you're firing on all cylinders. Wtf man get a sense of fairness in this argument.
Re: Libya
It must be done internally
They tried that, they're losing because of Gaddafi's strong airforce against them. So your opinion is, "Welp, tuff shit, good try..try again when you can tackle it all by yourself internally, enjoy your repressed lives!"
:what
Re: Libya
Oh ya I love it when people die and i LOVE dictators.
Why is it that people get fooled every time the US/NATO goes to war? Do you think they will just bomb it and then leave it to the people? Stop the planes so it can be a fair fight?
Or do you think NATO will invade in the name of peace?
Why aren't they helping Sudan and the Ivory Coast?
The President of Sudan Omar Al Bashir has been in power since 1989 and they are fighting with the Rebels (Militia) there.. Do you see the wording the media uses. It is Rebels in Libya but Militia in Sudan.
Re: Libya
ok I'll repeat what I said before, there is a great deal of mis-information about Libya. Presently, neither is NATO NOR the US going into Libya. There is a no-fly zone imposed and external forces (so far it seems France would be the first to respond) IF the No-Fly Zone is breached. So please stop saying that the US will go in and whether they go in with the OIL reasoning or in the name of peace, at the bare minimum, they are HELPING those in need. Clearly you are presenting your case like you are against that aspect of intervention.
