^Not from me, but I have a feeling I know a few of the usual suspects to which you're alluding.

And I remember the leadup to the 2003 Iraqi invasion...I was more uneasy than anything, but I recall a bit of a media circus as the countdown commenced, like they were fishing for ratings and viewers' eyes.

Explain the irony? Please enlighten us with a small piece of your extensive knowledge of Guevara's life...please o great knowledgeable fact bringer to whom we look to for new facts :) I would hate to presume and be wrong. Also please o great one enlighten us as to what your spiel relates my humble point that the US has increasingly moving towards a fascist society? A system which the person on my avatar fought against.

well first of all, corporatism and cronyism do not equal fascism. i'm still trying to convey that point to runningman to no avail. second, i don't disagree that statists have nudged our country towards fascistic ends and third, fascism provides slightly more private economic freedom than marxism. slightly.

if you need an example to highlight this, che oversaw the confiscation of private business property and claimed it for 'the people' (meaning: the government). your boy che wanted to eliminate all private property and develop the ultimate totalitarian state - easily differentiated from those fascists who do permit private ownership in part and parcel.

LOL

I don't think the US is fascist because of "corporatism and cronyism"...i think you are fascist because the military and state agenda is promoted everywhere, through every "independent" media source and anyone against the government policy is side lined, discredited and labelled as a commie or whatever.

it does provide slightly "more private economic freedom than marxism" but thats not what I am arguing for...I would rather have an educated, healthy populace than 5 guys making a ton of money and being free to make more while pushing their own agenda through lobbying and mass media promotion. So your fascist society deals with the happiness and satisfaction of its few well of members while a Marxist society would deal with the happiness of the so many under privileged in your country...that is what you are arguing???

Anyway...i am not going to argue about merits of marxism with someone who got their facts about Marxist ideology from Senator

"if you need an example to highlight this, che oversaw the confiscation of private business property and claimed it for 'the people' (meaning: the government). your boy che wanted to eliminate all private property and develop the ultimate totalitarian state"

are you retarded??? That is Communism??? What the fuck did you expect? I don't think taking away all private industry which was bought for peanuts by the American companies because they bribed government officials so that now they can exploit the local populace is a bad thing. I will say again READ A BOOK. look what is happening in Bolivia these days... that's the kind of thing Che dealt with...so you have no CLUE what IS or what WAS happening in your back yard...

As I said before; you bring nothing useful what so ever to the discussion...not a single fact that you didn't read of the milk carton..or pop history..."the world history in less than 5 minutes"

I hate to write a whole post of just flaming someone...but SERIOUSLY you have been giving me shit all this time about an avatar because the guy on it was a Communist??? YES we knew that...and??? I was expecting that you could produce SOMETHING that is more immediate than property appropriation...which is the FIRST thing that happens in ANY communist society. . .and???
LOL
maybe you're right. the government media vessels (CNN, ABC, MSNBC, NBC, CBS, ad nauseum) have unquestionably fed the american public loads upon loads of government bullshit about Obamacare, and they most certainly cheerleaded Obama into the whitehouse despite him being vastly inexperienced with really anything. And interestingly enough, they continue to regurgitate this administrations talking points day in and day out.

but then, they also IGNORE the issue of us being in Iraq and Afghanistan, among other places. They once made it their morning ritual of attacking the last administration for being bogged down in a quagmire. for ever going to war, and it was generally a non stop assault on the last administration's foreign policy. but TODAY??? nothing. there's no real talk about it anymore. and as i posted that video from Reason a few weeks ago, there are rarely any more protests. No more Bushitler. And like I said, i can't wait for a republican to step into the white house again to show how hypocritical the pro-government media really is. (but lettuce be trix, they're only defending left-wing presidential administrations).

So then, if the media ideologically chooses sides....is your point about the media taking orders from the government squarely fit with fascism?

The answer is maybe it does with your point on the 'military' but definitely NOT on the part of the state agenda. That's for damn sure. But regarding the military agenda, I wonder what you're using as your standard here? Afterall, while the media did glorify the American invasion of of Iraq and Afghanistan (surely that's not big news worthy of sensationalism or of any meaning to the American public!) the turn AGAINST the war started trickling into the talking points fairly quickly until it was a roar of opposition.

SO i guess, in fairness, the United States is only fascist (according to you) ...really only when we go to war and for a short period thereafter.

I wish i could find a media outlet that supported the government, defendend the government, 100% of the time. Usually when you're given talking points from men with guns, you follow them to a 'T'.

LOL @ your last sentence. I'm not even going to spend the time laying out how hilariously wrong that is.
it does provide slightly "more private economic freedom than marxism" but thats not what I am arguing for...
well you're arguing for it whether you like it or not. it's part and parcel of your beliefs.
I would rather have an educated, healthy populace
yeah, me too.

Too bad our government schooling is atrocious in many different contexts. And too bad our government can't nationalize restaurants (or would that be fried fascism?)
than 5 guys making a ton of money and being free to make more
I happen to like 5 Guys Burgers, so i don't mind providing them value for value (money for burgers!). All kidding aside, why do you take issue with people finding financial success? Why does the fact that people can pull themselves up out of their economic classes into higher ones disturb you so much? I know several people who fled the soviet union with nothing but a suitcase and have saved more and produced more than aggregate productivity of section 8 users in this country. And good for them. Good for them, I say.
while pushing their own agenda
Ah, so you object to the fact that they have a different opinion than you. (otherwise, if they had the same opinion, i reckon that you wouldn't be complaining about this)
through lobbying and mass media promotion.
Yeah, i too find lobbying problematic. And worse, I find people who are able to be lobbied just as ridiculous. I see nothing wrong with giving money away to have advertising. That's your damn right in my book. (would it be preferable if a government bureaucrat was in charge of censoring 'detestable' advertising and granting waivers to those messages they personally approved of????? lmao)
So your fascist society
If we're fascist, then England is Fascist EXTREME. Lmao. oh wait....
deals with the happiness and satisfaction of its few[p/quote]

yeah, we dont' have the National Happiness Administration of the Social Satisfaction Act. maybe next year?

you know who really ISN'T happy right now? most of the American people. And you know why? Because of this dipshit administration. do you think the 'evil-money-elites' are happy right now? Well i bet Ted Turner is. And of course Huffington. Soros. And all the left-wingers on k-street and wall street.
a Marxist society would deal with the happiness of the so many under privileged in your country...that is what you are arguing???
Yes, we'd all be happy because we're equally miserable FINALLY. There's actually less income inequality in the United States than most other places on the planet. The poorest non-homeless person in this country is roughly as poor as a taxi cab driver in calcutta.
Anyway...i am not going to argue about merits of marxism
it would be futile, a waste of breath, and magnificently wrong.
with someone who got their facts about Marxist ideology from Senator
senator who?

i love how you think anyone with a tv is being CONTROLLED ZOMG by whoever is on tv.

Your problem is that you're perceiving your ideals where they do not exist. In your system, i would be getting my facts from a senator (or commissar or whatever).
are you retarded??? That is Communism??? What the fuck did you expect?
Nothing. I point it out because it's ASININE. You take people who have given up their time and labor and mind to acquire rights to property, and then give it to those who could otherwise never have done so. It's not only immoral (government-sanctioned theft) but totally unworkable. Someone needs to brush up on their Solzhenitsyn.
I don't think taking away all private industry
that's too fucking bad, becuase that's what will happen. "oh, me, i didn't INTEND that, i didn't realize the consequences....no no, not all private property, just some corporate private property....those who don't support the regime" (that's also not fascist: gov't taking over corporations).
which was bought for peanuts
Newsweek, the actual business itself, was recently sold for a single. fucking. dollar. But i'm not bitching about the terms of the deal because those who have a right to sell can decide whatever price they want. I don't know where you're finding property for peanuts, but please enlighten me because I'd like to buy some myself.
by the American companies
so you've got nothing against honda or toyota car making plants? just american companies. not foreign companies. solid, bro. solid.
because they bribed government officials
are you being ironic or just plain stupid? again, there's a difference between someone who read marx and someone who UNDERSTANDS marx.

or, said another way, "i'm going to do away with corrupt government officials by making government in control of just about everything."
so that now they can exploit the local populace is a bad thing
yes free choice and consumerism is a bad thing. you act like everyone is a fat woman in a chocolate store 24/7.

buying products i want is exploitation. being given what some government bureaucrat tells me i can have is pure freedom! oh so much win bro.
. I will say again READ A BOOK.
but i can't sir. the books i want to read were confiscated and burned because they opposed official government policy. all i have is this little red book and i've read it more times and it still makes no sense to me.
look what is happening in Bolivia these days
yeah, basically they're following in the footsteps of Venezuela.

grabs popcorn

"There must be awareness and a mobilization to put an end to capitalism and clear away invaders, neocolonialists and imperialists"

If you guessed ol Evo said that, you win the prize!

They just need more regulations set food prices at a very low, affordable rate.

Let's see what happens!!!
... that's the kind of thing Che dealt with
yes, the miami cubano community reveres him lol
..so you have no CLUE what IS or what WAS happening in your back yard...
let them nationalize food suppliers in that country. again, i wait and anticipate epic lulz
As I said before; you bring nothing useful what so ever to the discussion...not a single fact that you didn't read of the milk carton..or pop history..."the world history in less than 5 minutes"
i bring nothing but ownage when i respond to you. I just dropped a cluster bomb of knowledge....;)
I hate to write a whole post of just flaming someone
that's cool, i don't mind. the flames temper my intellectual samurai sword.
...but SERIOUSLY you have been giving me shit all this time aboui an avatar because the guy on it was a Communist???
yeah, i'm fairly anti-statist. it's not that much different than wearing a shirt with Mao on it. it's like a "bureaucracy beacon" to me.
YES we knew that...and??? I was expecting that you could produce SOMETHING that is more immediate than property appropriation...which is the FIRST thing that happens in ANY communist society. . .and???
something more immediate? violent overthrow of government combined with the execution of those who dissent publicly? lolidunno

Ah yes, as long as the drive for self-betterment and self-enrichment be contained in the name of the greater good...I never see such a philosophy ending well, until science finally succeeds in implementing group-think and eradicates that inborn human trait of selfishness.
