it seems, thanks to modern media, that the countries of the world are turning the aid to ASIA into a bidding war for future economic availability. each country, every day seems to go one step furthur than the day b4. i mean, hell if it helps do it, but dont it for interest. do it for compassion. too much of it is loans, which obviously include interest, rather than just getting it done for the human race. wipe the debt clean like we all did after WW2

you know what's really sad?
it's a big pissing contest..
as far as i know that's aid not loans what countries all over the world are giving now to asia and about the dept, i agree with you, lots of third world countries still suffer because of it but, unfortunately the dept is still there and there's no way these countries can ever have their economics grow with all these depts

doesn't everything that politicians get involved in turn into some sort of pissing contest?
Man, on the tv here last week: frickin' rankings on how much each country had given...I instantly decided not to give anymore. I'll do good my own way.
But let's look on the bright side of the "competition" (which, I honestly think is trully ridicolous); at least the ravaged ountries will get more money in the end! :D
Okay, that's true...

that's if the countries really give, they probably wil get half the money that was offered
yep..."pledges" and then the "cash" are 2 different entities...but yes, many will see this as a new "business opportunity" on the rebuilding of things....gotta love it
Pff...Netherlands just chipped in another 200 mln...wonder where we get the money from?
I had to borrow money this week to eat, so I won't be contributing just yet...
what would be truly admirable (and yet merely fantasy at this point) is if President Bush decides to forgoe the January 20 Inauguration ceremonies and instead donate all the money that would be spent (nearly $20 million?) to help recover, relieve, and reconstruct the Bande Aceh.
or maybe i should just stop dreaming...
