Dave,no offence for u dude,i got some Israeli friends(im Egyptian & thats weird in my country) & i love Moshic...but i hate ur country & its policies!

Re: Israeli raid on Gaza flotilla

Hate who the f*ck you like, thats up to you, but seriously is there any need to lie about your cause? Do you not think that the truth is bad enough that exaggeration is needed?

I'm sure Moshic, a proud Israeli, is so stoked you love him but hate his country - you don't even realise how stupid you sound.

I still fail to see here comments from you condemning the following:

  1. The 40 IHH members who the Turkish Government allowed to board the Mavi Marmara knowing full well that these people were nothing more than terrorist wannabes, by some of their own definitions (see earlier videos posted by me).

Should you find that problematic maybe you have a comment to make on this piece of news out of Egypt:
Muslim Brotherhood MP Mohamed Beltagy, who was on Gaza-bound flotilla, recounts snatching of Navy soldiers. Egyptian newspapers not pleased with bragging, says it 'helps Israel'
Or what about this one where the supposed peace activists on the Mavi Marmara gave an interview to Turkish media:
Turkish newspaper publishes interview with Marmara activists describing how they overpowered three Navy commandos. 'I looked into the eyes of these three children, and saw panic. They had no hope of staying alive,' says ship passenger Mahir Tan
Additionally, maybe you would like to offer us a reason as to why SIX ships successfully docked in Ashdod and had their 'aid' delivered to Gaza, only to be held up by Hamas, whilst on only one ship, with 40 members of Turkish Group IHH, confrontation broke out.

I'm sure it would be easier for you to ignore the facts of this incident to suite your own political agenda.

And finally, most importantly here, I will accept no lectures off of a man/woman whose country enforced the blockade of Gaza with mine, whilst brutally murdering African refugees in the Sinai as they try to enter Israel - my dear Egyptian friend, those who live in glass houses really shouldn't throw stones.

#1379901Post 130 of 169

Re: Israeli raid on Gaza flotilla

"those who live in glass houses really shouldn't throw stones."

stupid, backwards logic that would lead nowhere. So... we all shouldn't criticize Israeli policies because of actions taken by countries we were born in?? Right, that makes perfect sense. I think the point here is that people were killed by trained soldiers who should have/could have handled things differently. I guess I am just blinded by my cause and my "hate" of Israel too bwahahaha

Re: Israeli raid on Gaza flotilla

More facts best ignored by some
An investigation by a private body of Israel's intelligence officials has found that the Gaza flotilla activists aboard the "Mavi Marmara" who clashed with Israel Navy forces last week were part of an organized group that was prepared for a violent conflict.

An activist holding a knife aboard a Gaza-bound aid ship on May 31, 2010. Photo by: Provided by IDF Spokesperson's Unit

The report, which was published by the Intelligence and Terrorism Information Center (Malam), also found that the group was supported by the Turkish government and that Turkey's Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan was aware of the plans for violence.

Malam is a private organization that serves as an unofficial branch of Israel's intelligence community and in the past has been a medium through which Israel's intelligence findings were made known to the public.

According to the investigation, while most of the 500 Mavi Marmara passengers were humanitarian activists and volunteers who underwent a security check before boarding the ship in the Antalya port, a group of 40 IHH activists boarded the ship in an Istanbul port beforehand, and separated themselves from the rest of the passengers throughout the journey.

These activists boarded the ship without a security ship and were equipped with communication devices, flack jackets embroidered with Turkish flags, and gas masks. The activists turned the upper deck into their headquarters and refused entry to the other passengers. Among the activists was a clear internal hierarchy wherein specific activists acted as commanders.

The leader of the Islamic organization, Bülent Yıldırım, was on the Mavi Marmara and briefed the IHH members about two hours before the Israeli Navy arrived at the ship. Their main objective was to hold back the soldiers with any means available, and to push them back into the sea.

The ship did not allow weapons on board, however, the IHH members stocked up won metal rods, knives cut the ships metal rail which they used to attack the soldiers.

According to an officer who was aboard the ship, a confrontation started when the ship's crewmates heard the IHH members sawing the railing into metal rods, but they were unable to confiscate them from them. The IHH members gathered all the knives from all six cafeterias on board the ship, as well as the axes from the fire extinguishers on the deck, all of which served as weapons in the attack against the Navy commandos who landed on the deck.
Before the takeover, all the passengers who were not related to the IHH protestors were lowered into the belly of the ship and were ordered to remain there. Only journalists and security personnel were allowed access to the ship's deck.

The footage filmed on deck matched the testimonies of the passengers that claimed they did not witness any violence, as they were denied access to the deck, where the violent attack occurred.

The testimonies are also similar to the version given by the Navy commandos who said that they fought with a group of approximately 50 people who used every weapon available to attack them. Eight of the nine dead were identified as IHH members.

Files found on laptops owned by the IHH members pointed at strong ties between the movement and Turkey's prime minister. Some of the activists even said that Erdogan was personally involved in the flotilla's preparations. They also said that they knew in advance that their chances of making it into Gaza were slim, but their initial goal was to "to expose Israel's true face to the world."

An IHH journalist said during his investigation with Israeli security forces that "the Turks set a trap for you and you fell straight into it." He also said that the recent flotilla was the first in many. what the picture shows is that reuters showed the world a picture that hides the real facts, people are still saying that there were no knives and that the israeli soldiers were not hurt.

I agree that the response from the soldiers was a bit too harsh, however, id like to see how do you or other people react when your friends are getting attacked with knives/sticks or whatever and you dont really have much time to think about the consequences.

I wouldnt doubt that this whole situation was cleverly planned by pro-palestine activists in order to get negative attention to israel since they knew what sort of response they will get.

Ganjamo, we haven't seen any of the doctored stuff here, as far as we are concerned there were no denials about knives etc. We also saw that the Israeli soldiers were met with some resistance by the people whose ship they were boarding in international waters. Just a different , and more logical, way of looking at it. After all it's sort of difficult to see fully armed soldiers dropping down from helicopters as defending

I have made a point of reading , and seeing as much about this as I can and the more I read and see the more illogical the Israeli position is.

I think it's well known that knives and sticks were used by those on board to attack and defend themselves from israeli terrorists.

I have yet to read or see anybody denying this fact. And besides the media always hide some truthes. Nothing new there.
I agree that the response from the soldiers was a bit too harsh, however, id like to see how do you or other people react when your friends are getting attacked with knives/sticks or whatever and you dont really have much time to think about the consequences.
They freakin murdered human beings that were bringing humanitarian aid to men, woman and children. Palestinians are deliberately being shamelessly starved by the israeli government.

Those israeli terrorists captured were very lucky to escape with only a beating and humiliation.

Re: Israeli raid on Gaza flotilla

A good write up by Noam Chomsky.
As the editors of The Guardian rightly observed on June 1, “If an armed group of Somali pirates had yesterday boarded six vessels on the high seas, killing at least 10 passengers and injuring many more, a NATO task force would today be heading for the Somali coast.” In this case, the NATO treaty obligates its members to come to the aid of a fellow NATO country—Turkey—attacked on the high seas. There was ammunition on the ship. Does that count as humanitarian aid?

Also a couple of days after this issue, the IDF sent aid to the gaza strip and Hamas did not want to recieve it. They are also being hungered by their government.

Its like the attack on gaza that happened back in January, they destroyed the tunnels that brought weapons and other stuff and since then only few attacks to israel have occurred. Now, if you allow this kind of ships to bring "humanitarian aid" and they react like this when boarded, would'nt it sound like theres something fishy going on?.

DIDI what im trying to say is that they used the tunnels to bring stuff that they weren't supposed to (rockets, weapons, ammo, etc). And by letting this boats bring "aid" to gaza could compromise the security of the israeli citizens all over again.

Re: Israeli raid on Gaza flotilla

Bwahahahahahaha - no where on this site, to the best of my knowledge, has any supporter of Israel tried to silence those who are against it and I am certainly not one of those who accuses anyone who opposed my country as an anti-semite.

Let me set the record straight from my own personal perspective, challenging my governement is absolutly welcomed by me, and many Israelis, what I have a problem with is the way the those who oppose Isreali actions demand a higher standard from Israel then from any other country on this planet.

For example, a call for an international inquiry against every Israeli action would be legitimate if the same calls were made against, lets say against the US and UK for their illegal wars in the Middle East. Additionally, the UNHRC, which seem unusually pre-occupied with Israel, ignores such human rights violators like Sudan, Lybia, Iran, Syria, Nigeria, Burma, China et all. whilst actually having those same oppresive regimes on their internation human rights body - great double standard don't you think?

But I guess to some people around here having that double standard is acceptable whilst they throw out pathetic claims about Israel's supporters being anti this and anti that and full of hate - whilst ignoring those far greater violators on international law.

Shame really that those of us who oppose this double standard are happy to challenge some of the bullshit that appears on-line.
a call for an international inquiry against every Israeli action would be legitimate if the same calls were made against, lets say against the US and UK for their illegal wars in the Middle East.
We do - and we are. The illegal wars you speak of went against the wishes of the majority here in the UK. If it wasn't for our govt lying completely about the threat and supressing anyone in opposition, the majority would've been far greater and they couldn't have done it. I find that disgusting personally, but the damage is now done and irreversible i'm afraid. To be critical of the actions of other govts doesn't mean that you support the actions of your own without question. I'm appalled by human rights violations the world over (inc all the countries you mention) ashamed by the actions of our "leaders" in much of our recent history.

Sometimes you have to leave your flags and holy books at the door and deal in the old fashioned values of wrong and right.
Now, if you allow this kind of ships to bring "humanitarian aid" and they react like this when boarded, would'nt it sound like there's something fishy going on?
Delusional much?

It's ok I understand.

German news report on the flotilla of fool.

Planned violence on the Mavi Marmara

Code Pink member lied about the violence she claimed to see on the Marmara, a ship she wasn't even on.
U.S. Army Col. (Ret.) Ann Wright, on a speaking tour of the United States on behalf of radical pacifist women's group Code Pink, bills herself as an eyewitness to the IDF raid on the Mavi Marmara and what she termed the “murder” of “nine innocent civilians.” However, in an interview with Aaron Lerner of IMRA, she admits she did not actually see the clash between the IDF soldiers and the armed passengers on board the Mavi Marmara.

Lerner asks questions about what she saw, but does not remind her that the confrontation took place between 4:30 and 5:00 a.m., in the dark of night (IDF footage of the raid was carried out with night vision equipment) when she admits to being on another ship.. In a promotional e-mail on behalf of "Code Pink: Women for Peace," Wright says: “I just returned from the Gaza Freedom Flotilla and started my speaking tour last night in NYC to share what I witnessed aboard the flotilla, and what people can do to end the siege.” “I witnessed the Israeli attack that killed 9 persons and wounded 50 on the Gaza Flotilla... the murder of nine persons... Tragically, it took another example of disproportionate use of force by the Israeli military that resulted in the deaths of nine innocent civilians to force many governments of the world to call for the Israelis to end the siege of Gaza.” In the interview with Lerner she admitted that she was not aboard the Mavi Marmara but on a different ship, the Challenger, which was about 150 yards distant from the Marmara. In the interview, Lerner asks Wright if she has seen the video that shows the passengers preparing weapons for attacking the soldiers.
Lerner: “You haven't seen the YouTube that shows the rods that had been cut and prepared and the piles of hatchets that were ready?” Wright: “No, I haven't. I'm still in the process of catching up with all the stuff that's out there.”
She also claims that “the video” (apparently the same video that she said she did not see – ed.) stops at a certain point and does not show that “the captain of the ship and the director of the IHH came out of the wheelhouse and told the guys that were on top 'stop beating these soldiers up.'”
Lerner: Col. Wright I just want to make sure again – so you actually were on a different boat and did not witness the attack firsthand. Wright: That's correct. Lerner: So your witnessing is based on the information that you are getting from the other folks who were there. Wright: My witness will be specifically what happened on our ship, the Challenger. And then I can comment on what happened in the very first three or four minutes as the Israeli commandos were trying to board the ship. We saw that from the stern of the ship. But after that that's when my witnessing from my own eyes of what happened on that ship would end. Source

Maybe Avinery is asking the wrong questions!

I believe that Avinery should join the growing chorus of voices in Israel and around the world who are all demanding that an international inquiry be set up to examine the role of Turkey and its Prime Minister in initiation this attack on Israel.

I doubt our Aussie readers will agree, go figure right!

Re: Israeli raid on Gaza flotilla

Yes, yes, Avnery is asking all the wrong questions. That's right the whole world is wrong, except for israel and her appeasers.

Heard it all before and it's kind of pathetic and quite sad.

But go ahead, continue on "supporting", defending israels disgraceful and distructive ways.
