Re: The 2010 State of the Union Address

Ya it was. I found myself agreeing with everything he said. I knew that Obama thought like me. I just hope he does what he says because yesterday was like a "double down" move like n blackjack. He promised the world again so we will see if he will deliver.

The only major thing I didn't like was how he is trying to skip the part aout the banks getting trillions in bailouts. He doesn't want to punish banks which means there won't be accountability.

Also I notice the political section is getting pretty thin. Only like 4 people that talk in it. I see the rest went back to watching TMZ.

88Mariner are you online!!!!!! Glad you're back this board needs it.

Re: The 2010 State of the Union Address

It got quiet when things started looking bad for democrats for a while there..... like with the loss of Ted Kennedy's seat and the Senate super-majority. You could hear the crickets in here.:lol::lol:

Great speech, blah, blah, blah

Is this guy actually going to do anything different to Bush?

Actions speak louder than words.

Actually, at least for me, it had a lot more to do with the fact that the intelligent discussion that used to take place in here has been drown out by self-aggrandizing jibberish.

Re: The 2010 State of the Union Address

Toasty that's not fair.. You Democrats needed some humble pie.. and now you've had a piece so get back to the drawing board and own your legislation.. The jibberish was also right.. It isn't better out there. You educated Dems need to get down from your ivory tower and talk to the lowly peasants..

Didn't you read my post. I'm giving him a second chance.. He fucks this up though and I will never forgive him. He should just pass what he wants and own it.. If it works great... I'm all for it.. If it doens't and it gets worse well the reality is a revolution is on the horizon..

What I'm forgiving him for

Not sending bankers to jail Not getting out of Gitmo Not fulfilling his campaign promises basically wraps it up

But if he fucks up the economy more I will never forgive him.

#1328846Post 9 of 36
  1. How is he not getting out of Gitmo? It is closing soon.
  2. How can he just pass what he wants and own it? Bills have to get Congressional approval to pass, the President can't pass arbitrary laws as he sees fit.

I'm confused on these points....

Re: The 2010 State of the Union Address

obama certainly does give good speeches, i'll give him that. he also bends truth like a MF. sorry, i can't stand him. that's why i barely ever post on the politics section anymore. i know a lot of people on here like him which is why i just prefer to stay uninvolved now for the most part. i'll stick to music. :)

Re: The 2010 State of the Union Address

why is this about me?

You guys always do this. Instead of talking about the issues you attack me. Please discuss the issues. That is what is important. Let's hear a stance. I always give you my stance. What is yours?? What are you looking for?

That is the problem with the Poly section is that no one gives a view point but me and chunky. Everyone else just attacks.

Ok...those were your answers to my questions, but you didnt really answer them.

I said if you read it, that Gitmo IS closing soon. And half of those dipshits are coming to Illinois. You said you are made because it isn't closed, well it is not closed YET. IT WILL BE SOON.

Also don't you think he is trying to do something with healthcare? He is getting beat to shit in the polls right now and his ratings are way down, do you think it is because he is trying to push his plan thru and it isnt going over well? He even made fun of this and himself during his speech.

#1328945Post 21 of 36

Re: The 2010 State of the Union Address

Look Reso.. Obama has said a lot of things. Just because he says he is going to close gitmo (and he has already missed his target date) isn't very reassuring. Remember it is coming up to election season and nobody knows how to run their mouth better than Obama. Talk is cheap.. Remember the american saying "Money talks and busllshit walks."

I think the heathcare plan he is proposing is awful that is why there is a backlash. I think the American people want heathcare reform but they aren't sure exactly what they want which makes them nervous because they don't trust gov't anymore to do it. You can't blame them either. It wasn't good politics because he proposed a horrible plan.

Also I will say it for the 1000 time on here. i am half american my mother was born and raised in Detroit. That is why I care so much

Re: The 2010 State of the Union Address

Unfortunately I know how it works here, and watered down jack shit is going to get passed and the system and social security is going to go broke. That is how healthcare is going to look here in the US in 30 years, and then thats going to be the next (even worse) problem the gov't is going to have to sort out. Since no one is going to comprise on anything, nothing is going to really get done. Standard stuff.

Re: The 2010 State of the Union Address

well who is moving to the US mexicans? Where are they on that list?

what does your statement of "everyone wants to move here" have to do with the cause of the worlds problems??

Canada's healthcare would be better if our doctors didn't move to the US. If you guys lower your prices it will fix our healthcare as well because our doctors will stay. That would dramatically cut down on waiting time.

#1328967Post 28 of 36

your doctors move to the US because it is free enterprise. which is exactly what i agree with and obama doesn't see. trust me, if healthcare is gov't controlled here in the US, canada will be able to retain their doctors.

Re: The 2010 State of the Union Address

oh I know Garrick.. Doctors here make around $250g's here but they go down there to make millions. The problem with your healthcare isn't the doctors making money. It is the insurance giants and pharma's that rape you guys. I'm all for doctors making good money.. They saved my life when I was young..;)

The Democrats in Congress should be ashamed -- I'm not sure if it's on account of feckless pusillanimity or self-interested grandstanding, but they have royally blown it. The Republicans are no better, though, with their whole platform being to stop whatever the democrats want to do, period. Neither of those things have anything with the reason I've been less active in my posting, though.

#1329076Post 32 of 36

Re: The 2010 State of the Union Address

I'll judge Obama on what he does and not what he says. A great speech, but let's see some action. Unemployment still high, no health care plan, two wars still going on with Taliban resurgence, Osama still at large, Gitmo still open, more debt than ever, no changes to securities laws, higher taxes on the way. A few wins even smaller battles under his belt would get him and his party moving in the right direction. Moving the terror trials out of NYC would be a good start.

Neoconservatism died at the failure of McCain and the growth of the Tea Party Movement (one reason why pretty much all anti-neocons should be supporting it.)

I don't think Neocons have much of a chance anymore.

Once conservatives and republicans realize we have spent billions of dollars and sacrificed thousands of lives and families to build up what will ultimately become an islamic democracy much like Iran (meaning, all for naught), there's little chance that Wilsonian foreign policy will see the light of day in the future. And those facts aside, also consider nobody wants to spend more money on other countries...people are really wanting to keep our tax dollars working for us at home.
