ugg, this is just depressing to wake up and see this all over the news today, the day after the best holiday around....

enough is enough, i think its time we just cordon off the middle east and let them rot amongst themselves....

we really need to cut ourselves off from the area and let them forget us. stop the foreign aid, stop the wars, stop all the humanities monies, and simply isolate them. they dont want our help and hide under the guise of "its only militants", when they cant keep their own homes clean.

when will the regular non militant people gain some guff and stand up to these? they wontm b/c the regular citizens of the Middle east find it convienent to let the terrorists do what they do much like whites in the south didnt stand up to the KKK when it was doing its activities.

uggg. society sucks.

Re: terror bombing attempt on plane....

Witness claim Umar Farouk Abdul Mutallab tried to board the plane in Amsterdam without a passport. I haven't heard this on the news

http://www.mlive.com/news/detroit/index.ssf/2009/12/flight_253_passenger_says_at_l.html
A Michigan man who was aboard Northwest Airlines Flight 253 says he witnessed Umar Farouk Abdul Mutallab trying to board the plane in Amsterdam without a passport.

Kurt Haskell of Newport, Mich., who posted an earlier comment about his experience, talked exclusively with MLive.com and confirmed he was on the flight by sending a picture of his boarding pass. He and his wife, Lori, were returning from a safari in Uganda when they boarded the NWA flight on Friday. Haskell said he and his wife were sitting on the ground near their boarding gate in Amsterdam, which is when they saw Mutallab approach the gate with an unidentified man.

Kurt and Lori Haskell are attorneys with Haskell Law Firm in Taylor. Their expertise includes bankruptcy, family law and estate planning.

While Mutallab was poorly dressed, his friend was dressed in an expensive suit, Haskell said. He says the suited man asked ticket agents whether Mutallab could board without a passport. “The guy said, 'He's from Sudan and we do this all the time.'”

Mutallab is Nigerian. Haskell believes the man may have been trying to garner sympathy for Mutallab's lack of documents by portraying him as a Sudanese refugee.

The ticket agent referred Mutallab and his companion to her manager down the hall, and Haskell didn't see Mutallab again until after he allegedly tried to detonate an explosive on the plane.

Haskell said the flight was mostly unremarkable. That was until he heard a flight attendant say she smelled smoke, just after the pilot announced the plane would land in Detroit in 10 minutes. Haskell got out of his seat to view the brewing commotion.

“I stood up and walked a couple feet ahead to get a closer look, and that's when I saw the flames,” said Haskell, who sat about seven rows behind Mutallab. “It started to spread pretty quickly. It went up the wall, all the way to ceiling.”

Haskell, who described Mutallab as a diminutive man who looks like a teenager, said about 30 seconds passed between the first mention of smoke and when Mutallab was subdued by fellow passengers.

“He didn't fight back at all. This wasn't a big skirmish,” Haskell said. “A couple guys jumped on him and hauled him away.” The ordeal has Haskell and his wife a little shaken. Flight attendants were screaming during the fire and the pilot sounded notably nervous when bringing the plane in for a landing, he said.

“Immediately, the pilot came on and said two words: emergency landing,” Haskell said. “And that was it. The plane sped up instead of slowing down. You could tell he floored it.”

As Mutallab was being led out of the plane in handcuffs, Haskell said he realized that was the same man he saw trying to board the plane in Amsterdam.

Passengers had to wait about 20 minutes before they were allowed to exit the plane. Haskell said he and other passengers waited about six hours to be interviewed by the FBI.

About an hour after landing, Haskell said he saw another man being taken into custody. But a spokeswoman from the FBI in Detroit said Mutallab was the only person taken into custody.
Re: terror bombing attempt on plane....

You do know the man was Nigerian and not from the middle east? So first bomb the country (universities, hospitals, infastructure etc) and then cut off all aid?

wtf..?

Ofcourse. Besides the fact that he was operating for a terrorist organisation, the people from Nigeria aren't that happy with the US, they have supported old dictators that made the mess in the country ever bigger. Also my country is to blame, it should be able to prevent such an event. Also Shell(= ex Dutch national oil company) has done some dirty work in Negeria.

Remember when your pointing to someone else, there are always 3 fingers pointing towards yourself.

Re: terror bombing attempt on plane....

So what's the prevailing conspiracy theory on this one? Did the CIA set the guy up to do this so that they could continue their wars? Is there really no such thing as Al Quaeda and do the militant Muslims of the world (Middle East or wherever) love us??

No the conspiracy is that the US bombs countries.. then the countries they bomb retaliate the only way they can. You don't have to look far. Look two threads down..

No theory the guy was witnessed boarding the plane without a passport, which hasn't been mentioned on any major news channel in the UK. Maybe if the US want to tighten up airport security they should not let people on aircraft without a passport. The source of the story was on regional Detroit news :what.

What I don't get is why did he wait to do it less than an hour before the plane landed. Unless he wanted to be sure he was in US air space.

The US won't do any of the above because it is not in their best interest.

Peace isn't profitable, plain and simple. If there's money to be made then the chaos, madness and slaughter will continue.

The US leaders don't give a damn about your security because if they did, then they wouldn't be doing the shit that they are.

Exactly.

What I find disturbing is that fact, that seemingly intelligent/educated people have real trouble in understanding why "terrorists" do the things they do.

I don't get it. :|

why do u imply that all terrorists are just middle-east muslims??i think terrorism has no Country or Religion! these guys have no minds, they`ve been brainwashed for doind a certain task...in my opinion the majority of these ppl are very poor, which make their choice to join terrorist organizations easily.... still that guy was Nigerian & not from the middle east as the guys corrected...so u were wrong opening this topic to attack the middle east ppl for an african guy!& if the guy was from anywhere in europe would u still ask to ''cordon off europe and let them rot amongst themselves.... ''&". stop the foreign aid, stop the wars, stop all the humanities monies, and simply isolate them''????!!!!!!no u wouldnt! do u think we will really rot as u say?!!basically we dont live on the aid money,,,or maybe most of countries..its only the problem of corruption that is causing the loss of resources.. if u think we are still riding camels & living in the desserts & all what we do is raise terrorist children...then im telling u: YOU ARE WRONG! & again terrorists are in every country & every religion,,,u r just thinkin about the middle east as ur media tells u maybe! and finally plz dont judge the majority as for the behaviour of the minority:roll: Cheers from Egypt

I don't have any problem believing that they are telling the truth, and I would hope that the FBI would interview them. My comment was really directed at a larger undercurrent of paranoia around here of late.

Re: terror bombing attempt on plane....

So true Chunky..

Toasty, Paranoia??

Your banks just robbed you Obama bombs yemen and we are surprised of an attack?? Iran is on the horizon

Ya call me paranoid. The US needs to chill out and get their shit in order. If Iran gets bombed their will be a draft. Guarantee it. I'm moving way East if that happens. I have the place picked out and everything

Also don't you find it weird that he didn't have a passport and was allowed on the plane??

That a sharp dressed man got him on the plane lying that he was a somali refugee when he was a rich Nigerian kid??

What did he use again as a bomb? A firecracker? Complex bomb material? How did he get the complex bomb material? How did he get the complex bomb material on the plane?

Also it is funny that the bomber decided to bomb a Detroit airplane. Just so happens that Detroit has 50% unemployment. They would be good candidates to join the military wouldn't they??

Re: terror bombing attempt on plane....

Watching the news I see that Afghanistan is so 2009. Yemen is the new war zone for 2010.

As for conspiracy theories, possibly the CIA did put that guy on that plane and gave him a weak bomb through fake Al-Qaeda agents to scare us all into a larger war with Yemen. It sounds like something from Fox's 24. Rather convenient that Obama had missile strikes recently too.

#1314645Post 20 of 99

Re: terror bombing attempt on plane....

How in hell are you allowed onto an aircraft without a passport?

This doesn't make any sense at all.

And how is it, that this very same person was allowed to board the plain with an explosive device stiched inside his undies?

Surley a passenger with no passport/paper work should warrant a proper search.

And to top it off the explosive device "failed". Seriously :what

"Surprise, surprise", now you have calls for pre - emptive attacks against Yemen by asshats like Lieberman and I'm sure the other cowards will follow suit.

This story has been told before and imo, this "attempt" at blowing up an aircraft was a setup.
How in hell are you allowed onto an aircraft without a passport?

As a frequent air traveler, I can tell you that in the USA it has always been possible to board a domestic flight without a photo ID. I know this to be true from my personal experience about 1 year ago, where I accidentally left my wallet at home before heading to the airport.

I did not realize my wallet was missing until I got to the security line. I asked the TSA what I should do. They said I could go through security without the ID, but that I would be automatically flagged for extra inspection. This meant I would get pulled aside for a full inspection of my carry-on bag by hand and a frisk search of my body.

I did not go through security that day because I would have needed my wallet for my trip. (no money or credit cards = not good) But the point is, the TSA told me I was allowed to board my plane without a photo ID.

Keep in mind, this was for a domestic flight. I'm sure that internationally the situation would have been different.
Surley a passenger with no passport/paper work should warrant a proper search.
According to the TSA, this is exactly what happens when there is no photo ID. You are automatically flagged for extra security measures.
I'm sure that internationally the situation would have been different.
Yeah, that's what I was referring to. I've been overseas a few times and a passport is a must have. If not then the required documents/paper work is needed.

Mind you, the mention of attacker having no passport was by a passenger named Kurt Haskell.

Google him and see what he has to say.

Re: terror bombing attempt on plane....

Yes, fortunately the terrorist, err, suspect wasn't able to blow himself up. Two things I haven't heard too much of is that the attack was in response to Obama's bombings and two of the planners were ex-Gitmo commanders.

Obama dodged a bullet on this one. He needs to make some changes starting with that Homeland Security secretary before the terrorists actually succeed again.

well lets see, we are at war with a enemy that cant sneak 1 guy in with the millions of illegals that stream thru our southern border, nor can they sneak in a pound of anthrax with the tons of coke comming thru our border.

these masterminds could even buy dynomite right here in the states with a fake id, and do some vests in malls type stuff.

but they are to dumb for that, we have foiled them at every turn, because even though they were smarter in the 8 years before 9-11, we are super smart now, and have blocked their every move!

we cant stop illegals or drugs, but we nail those stinking terrorists everytime!!!!

Pretty much my thoughts. This terrorist threat we keep being brain-washed with is really pretty lame in the overall scheme of things. If al quaeda is the global threat with multi-billion dollar backing we're led to believe (with the murderous intentions we're led to believe it has) then the USA and the UK would have been hit time after time in the last 10 years imo. As CHunky said, those training camps must be pretty crap.

Does it always have to be planes? Or is that simply a more potent way of arousing fear in people as many feel anxious to a degree anyway when they fly?

If this threat was real and there really are so many people willing to be martyred for the cause, why don't they strike randomly at theme parks, beaches, sports events, city centres etc etc? It would be a far more effective, efficient and easier to execute if terror was the aim.

Why don't all these prospective martyrs just hit out at the nearest target to them and cause as much damage as possible before they are overcome? The answer of course is because they are all "sleeping" in "cells" all over the world, until the call comes from the bogey man telling them to board a particular flight with their pants full of supposedly explosive material.

#1315243Post 33 of 99

Re: terror bombing attempt on plane....

I don't think we should quickly dismiss the terrorists. We've had two terror attacks in the U.S. in the last two months. The Army officer at Ft. Hood was a terror attack and so was the attempted airplane bombing. According to the Yemen foreign minister, there are many more on the way around the world.

Yes, the guy that fouled up the most recent bombing didn't succeed. I heard that because he was impatient and didn't want to wait 10 more minutes was the reason for the dud bomb. So we were very fortunate that he screwed up. However, Major Hasan succeeded in murdering 12 soldiers.

The bad news is that it feels that we aren't any safer than 2001. He got through the increased airport security and by sheer luck and impatient we don't have another successful terror attack here in the U.S. The guy's father even warned us and our "intelligence" still couldn't put it altogether. The system is not working and glad to see Obama finally interrupted his vacation to say so.

#1315264Post 34 of 99

Re: terror bombing attempt on plane....

If your going to call Ft. Hood terrorism you can add the Washington Sniper, The Columbine Massacre, an all the other school shootings terrorism. All of these could of been maybe prevented if the US was dealing with Gun Control. But Gun Control isn't being addressed. All violent crime could be called terrorism.

The IRA used all sorts of terrorism, from shooting individuals, the bazooka attack at Heathrow, snippier attacks, and boomings at public events, shopping precincts, hotels, 10 Downing street, and on a regular basis's. They even had a Christmas bombing campaign. I find it strange how suicide boomers seem to be able to act efficiently in Israel, Iraq etc but not in the US. A lot of the terror attacks in seem to be small groups of individuals acting alone rather than some super network of terrorists.

So these men in caves got a hold of some pretty high level explosives (I live in canada and I don't even know how to get my hands on explosives) and now they are doing practice runs by bringing explosives on and not blowing the plane up. just for pracitice.

Only a retard would believe that story.

Its always planes:what What would be the point of running test runs? If they got caught they would be fucked anyway. It wouldnt be like getting caught with a small amount of Marijuana, they are not going to get let off with a caution and sent on their way. What would be interesting to know is how many terrorists have been caught at the airport by the security before entering the Departures. I recon none.
