I heard this very bad news......unfortunately... :(

#313781Post 3 of 26

ETA are a bunch of pricks..its like the IRA ..... there ideals are valid ones but the way they go about it is wrong..

what pisses me off is that ETA have targeted the tourist industry in spain which my parents are involved in. It achieves nothing by doing this and drives people away from investing in that country.

this world has gone to shit! it will be like this for the rest of my life, so i'll just have to get used to seeing stuff like this on the news. we're already desensitized. it doesn't even phase us anymore which even more sad.

#313785Post 5 of 26

Eta have been doing this for 40 years so it's nothing new... Their 'intention' is not to kill large numbers as they normally issue a warning but it's bound to go wrong one day :?

man what is going on, seems that everybody is going mad or something, the world is not a happy place any more

#314111Post 15 of 26

It is sad. But just as sad is the fact that most of you all aren't even aware of what has been happening on this planet since it began. Most of you were born in the 70's, just after the 60's peace movement and Vietnam. Some of your parents may have even been hippies. :) The beginning of many of the ideas you all have today. But look back from there.

Not to mention every little so called war. We ended the Cold War with Reagan in '86, what some call WW3. Before that... Vietnam, Korea, Europes WW1 and WW2, not to mention all the wars going on which we don't even think about, most of which are Islamic related, such as Sudan, and Indonesia, where Christians are attacked and families slaughtered for the spread of Islam. Good grief guys, there were days during WW2 when 1500 men would die in a single bloody day.

Go back into the 1800's. France and Napoleon, how many others. America and the wars for land & Independence against Indians, England and Mexico. Americas Civil War.

So many others, but jump back 500AD to 1500AD when Islam spread like fire by the sword across North Africa, Middle East, and South Europe. Albania faught the Turks for 25 years. Christians defending their land, until there national hero Skanderbek died and the battle was lost. Austria almost fell to the Turks. Spain was in trouble, Europe was threatened. And so many others one cant even mention for the sake of time.

Point ... war has been happening forever. Yes, it sucks. But don't be shocked. If you lived 200 years ago, or 500 years, in America, or Europe. You would probably die fighting for something. If you lived in the Middle East today, or anytime before, death and blood would be common. To see death, or even cause it would be normal. My middle eastern friends tell me how they are taught to cut the neck of a lamb for the traditional religious meals they eat. They are taught as young boys to kill.

Even today, if a son or daughter decides to leave the Islamic religion, or marries outside of that faith, the father, or a brother will many times kill the son or daughter who left the religion. 200 years ago, public hangings, or even worse things, were common on the town square in America, Europe, and they still happen today in the Middle East.

You think we are desensitized by Terrorism. We are desensitized by computer games where we kill with our own hand. We are desensitized by seeing blood and death in magazines, newspapers, TV news, and most of all THE MOVIES.

Think about history you guys. Think about how you react to the movies you watch. Thats just it, you don't react. 9/11 was a wake up call for the West to see how the Middle East has ALWAYS lived. And how the world used to be, before we had it relatively easy for 30 years, from your birth til now. 30 years without major War. Why are you shocked!

I agree with you ... it sucks. But don't be so shocked, get your mind ready for what we have been so fortunate not to have to experience, but everyone before us did experience. If you don't own a gun, think about taking a lesson and learning to shoot. You may have to use it some day to defend yourself. Its not a change in the times, its a normailization of the way this world has always been, and will always be.

We are sinful people, and where there is sin, there will be death. That is what your going to have to live with the rest of your life my music loving friends.

Another thread hijacked by Rob's anti-Islam agenda and his selective memory...

You know, it is hard to say the truth, and not get slammed. You don't have to like it, sometimes truthful things said are not nice and they hurt. But I am speaking the truth, and I am friends with muslim people. No problem with them really. One of my closest friends, from Libya, his family still there. I see this guy weekly. He is nominally religious, but very muslim. Not only does he explain life in the muslim culture, but I have seen it first hand. I have been in a muslim country, where people treated me great, and fed me at their table, and I slept in their bed while they took the couch.

I only say that to express that I actually care for these people and they are friends of mine. I even had an Iranian girlfriend for a while.

Am I Anti-Islam ... not really, I just wish people would speak the facts, because if they follow the teaching it leads them down the road we are all witnessing.
Am I Anti-Islamic people ... hell no!

The points I was making were truly about war, not so much Islam, though Islam leads 90% of the wars today. Thats why it comes up when I post on this topic. To discuss war in any way, and leave out the facts I raise about Islam is just plain ignorant and creates a false dicotomy which is misleading and is a flat out lie.

War sucks, its a part of life, get used to it, say thank you that you did not live 40 or more years ago, when war was actually worse. Though this terrorism could really be bad for the west if it isnt stopped.

If I were Islamic, and posted this thread from a computer in a state run Islamic law backed country, like Saudi, Iran, Pakistan, and many others, then I might be found in jail for breaking the law 'blasphemy against Allah', which the ultimate punishment is death, sometimes by hanging or worse, never nice. That lack of freedom is why most over there want to move away from their country, and be more western in thought.

Yeah, it sucks, and you only hate me because I have the guts to say it. It is true, though embarassing to most muslims, some will admit it and talk about it in private, like my friends do with me.

Sorry you can't stand to hear something which is 'poliitcally incorrect, and goes against the way you were taught to believe, ie, all is good on mother Earth. There are good things here, and some of those things are found in all parts of the world. Its a shame when some can't open their minds to the sad and sorry truth of certian aspects of life.

At least we can agree to like the music found on this wonderful website.

Btw, mixu, your avator is great, caught me off guard when her face moved.

I haven't found a good one yet.

The Amen was meant for your first post Rob, not to back Mixu up, although it's usually the other way round... :)

#314547Post 21 of 26

Rob...

I know you've got a lot of intelligent things to say ? but it really isn't necessary to bring the 'evils' of Islam into everything. People start wars. Period.

Yes, some of today's problems are due to Islamic fundamentalists ? as Cosmo said in another thread, a small minority of the Wahhabist sect ? but not all of the world's problems.

The Middle East only accounts for around a third of the world's 1.5 billion Muslim population (forgive me the accuracy of the figures) ? there are many secular Muslim countries where extremists may exist but are not a major problem.

I've been to Malaysia, Jordan, India, Uzbekistan, Turkey, Indonesia among others... Muslims are not violent aggressive people but as in any culture there are 'bad people'. The problem is with repressive states and the way they treat their people.

In the same breath, Iraq was a secular state and Saddam was the problem ? whether you agree with the war or not ? not Islam.

But as I said in a previous thread, if you're going to pick out Islam in history then you might as well pick out Christianity and the colonial powers among others. We live a relative life of luxury because the European powers colonised large parts of the world through force and North America and Europe became rich through the slave trade... I'm sure you don't need a history lesson.

Erm, had a few drinks... I didn't actually disagree with all of your thread though.

Anyway, two of my exes have come from Muslim families so it riles me. :?

BTW, do a Google search on 'animated gif' and you should find an avatar!

Ok, your cracking me up now! Good post Mixu. And I hear you Yao!

OK, I'm going to get heavy on you, so follow me please with this.

QUOTE: ''Christians are not only the most persecuted group in the world today, says the international human rights group Freedom House. Eleven countries now practice systematic persecution of Christians, says Nina Shea, author of "In the Lion's Den." They are China, Pakistan, Laos, North Korea, Vietnam, Cuba, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Egypt, Nigeria and Uzbekistan. These 11 nations -- and others that practice a more random brand of persecution -- are dominated by one of two belief systems, Communism or militant Islam.'' One. Like I said, I dont have any problems with the Muslim people. As you know, great people exist in every society, and I know 'good' muslims do contribute greatly to this world, ... BUT if you do a scope of all the wars happening today, and check out what is happening in those wars, you will find an overwhelming majority of them are Islamic in nature, and the injustice is on the side of the attacking Muslims in those wars. Kosova is an exception, where I was very in favor of Clinton in our helping out the muslim native Albanians of Kosova, which later helped aide in the Serbs overthrowing Milosevic. Another human in great need of being removed from society, who actually is an Orthodox Christian. Though an interesting point to know, The Orthodox Christian Serbs have battled with the Muslim Albanians forever, and the Albanians were actually Christian as a people prior to the Turks beating them some 500 years ago. And they have had their fueds way before Albania became Islamic. So the Serbs were actually fighting for religious AND ethnic reasons, and also issues of land lines drawn after WW2.

EXCELLENT READ - SEE: http://www.religioustolerance.org/war_koso.htm QUOTE: ''Unlike the rest of the former Yugoslavia, the Kosovo conflict has both ethnic and religious components. Before the recent exterminations and forced "ethnic cleansing," 90% of the population of Kosovo were ethnic Albanians. These are descendants of the ancient Illyrian tribes who occupied this area since before the Roman Empire. Their language is unrelated to all other languages in the area; they are now mainly Muslim.''

Two. You have been to Indonesia, did you ever check out the slaughter of Christians happening there in the name of Govt backed Islam. I think it has settled down a bit there now, but in the 90's it was shocking how ruthless they were in their desire to rid certain islands of the christian people living there. I have seen pictures of these people holding signs of slogans and Bin Laden together.

Its just a fact. Most people don't know it. The press rarely reports it. People as a whole don't care enough, because it doesn't affect them.

Three. Sudan, is a perfect example relevant to today. Christian majority villages are ALL being starved, bombed, killed, GIRLS raped, and BOYS sold into slavery ... TODAY! By the govt backed Muslim aggressors. And the govt has forbidden anyone from the outside to enter the war zones. WHY IS THAT?

Quote from site: http://www.wnd.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=14302 ''Freedom House reports that Islamic Sudan has abducted or killed more than 1 million of its own people in a jihad against non-Muslims. Young Christian boys are held captive, forced to convert to Islam and then sold as slaves. There are even reports of crucifixions of Christians in Sudan.''

Have you even heard about it? ONLY if you venture outside of the normal media to news organizations who will actually report more of the story than CNN or the NY Times.
