the sad thing is, most of the money ended up in a few pockets of ppl who had no need for it,.

You can easily find the Duelfer report. That will tell you all you need to know. Very, very intresting to say the least. It's amazing how quickly the mainstream press has forgotten about this issue.

21 Billion+ dollars, wasted, in the hands of the corrupt.

#313560Post 10 of 23

The oil-for-food has been one big debacle, that's for sure. They shouldn't have started an initiative like that in the first place.

Re: oil for food??

Time will show that the corruption involved in this program goes straight up to Kofi Annan himself. He has single-handedly prohibited any and all investigations. Coincidently, his son work closely with a company banned from the oil for food. After the ban, the younger Annan continued to receive a pay check. Interesting huh?

thanks for the links yao

It goes a bit deeper than Koffi's sorry son. Check these links for how other countries being bribed by Saddam all at the same time the UN was voting to remove Saddam from power or not.

You can google search: United Nations Saddam bribed France China

or for a quick look check out these:

http://www.nationalreview.com/comment/apostolou200410080926.asp

And check out this article, but dont miss the list of links. Smok'n! http://www.michaeltotten.com/archives/000548.html ''Memos from Iraqi intelligence officials, recovered by American and British inspectors, show the dictator was told as early as May 2002 that France - having been granted oil contracts - would veto any American plans for war.''

Fort Wayne News Editorial: http://www.fortwayne.com/mld/newssentinel/news/editorial/10213601.htm ''As Iraqis died of malnutrition and disease, Saddam paid bribes to undermine sanctions and clear a path for spending on WMD. Mark Greenblatt, a counsel for the Senate panel, said Saddam tried "to gain influence throughout the world" for his campaign to end the sanctions. Greenblatt said Saddam "gave oil allocations to officials, journalists and even terrorists, who then sold their allocations to the traditional oil companies in return for a sizable commission." If some Saddam allies who criticized the sanctions as cruelties imposed on the dictator were gullible, others were purchased and paid for.''

Got the point!

saddam bribed all the people who said no to the war, pretty shaddy in my eyes

Whats sad is ... money flashed in large amounts will move most people to do about anything.

The fallingness of man!

#316206Post 17 of 23

I'd move for a few million...but I'm in desperate need of some money.

#320473Post 18 of 23

Yeah but the UN are cowards,it,s really being ran by a evil frenchmen. And if he leaves, word has it he,ll got to jail cause he will no longer be protected by the cover of the president of france. Remenber Africa....

#320535Post 19 of 23

I don't thinks it's like that at all, the payments had nothing to do with the oil-for-food programme, but were part of an arrangement which is common in that branch: Kojo is prohibited from working at a competing firm for a certain length of time, that's why they have to pay him for that lenght of time.

The UN aren't cowards, they should just talk a little less...

#320542Post 20 of 23

whats even more fucked up is all the stuff that came out about the clinton buddy mark rich. he was a central figure in this. clinton knew about it, and pardoned him. this is weird. technically, the UN and the US federal gov't can now bring a lawsuit to clinton over all this. his backdoor/midnight pardon was done under some devious circumstances.

#320595Post 21 of 23

Hmm..I'm gonna read into that, because here you don't hear squat about that guy...

#320602Post 22 of 23

The UN needs a total overhaul.

#320608Post 23 of 23

Agreed. If I ever think it's worth 40 years of my life I'll fix the job...
