I'm sure all you naysayers and shit talkers are going to have plenty to say about these images...you always do. You'll say "Oh, they are staged" or "All kids are happy when you give them stuff" or something along those lines. SAVE IT!!!

All these pictures are intended to do or prove is show that there is good coming of our actions over there. Smiling faces where there was none. Some of you make it sound like the entire population of Iraq despises our presence there and would have us gone tomorrow. Or you say that the only reason we are there is for oil or so that George Jr. can "Finish his daddy's war" (I've always loved that one). Well, ask these people if they share your sentiments.

What??? They were there last night when I started the thread.

Damn Image Station!!!! :x

I'm at work right now...I'll have to fix it when I get home.

Re: for those who say ALL iraqis don't want us there...

I tried to fix it, but it looks like it's still not working. I'll fix it when I get home.

Fuck Image Station...piece of shit!!!!

Looks to me like a few of them are working, and the others aren't. I can see the soldier holding the little girl and the first one with the lady holding two signs.

But with a little internet common sense, you can see them fine. Its called C+V. Or just click my links below. If it doesn't work, just click it again. They have a referrer grabber on there, but it doesn't work very well, and definetely not 100%

I don't get it...I can see them fine. Any clues folks?

#308941Post 8 of 56

Ok, they should be there now. If not I give up.

#308949Post 9 of 56

Not yet....sorry dude.

#308950Post 10 of 56

I can see them just fine. Nice pictures but as there are always 2 sides (or more) to every story I can't just assume that this is how all of Iraq feels. I've seen pictures and videos of quite the opposite.

I would like to believe that we are wanted there by everyone, as your pictures paint, but if we are why is anyone fighting back?

Don't look to far into it man. The title of the thread says "those who think ALL iraqis.." Of couse there are those that don't, but some would have us believe that the entire population cannot wait for us to leave or will die to drive us out as invaders. That obvioulsly isn't true. That's my point, that's all.

Nobody is saying ALL Iraqies want us there, that is just ignorance. However, most of the sensible population does. Why don't you show us some of these video's and pictures your referring too, and not of terrorists and other soldiers who are fighting us. I'm talking about civilians maybe holding sign's similar to these. Surely if you wish for us to see what your talking about, posting pictures in this manner to back up your statement is the only plausable action.

With all due respect, I look at this and say, "AND?"

Of course not ALL Iraqis want us dead, dismembered and gone any more than ALL Iraqis view us as liberators, practice the same religion, like string cheese or anything else. SOME Iraqis view the situation differently than others. I don't disagree with your point, but this is not news in Iraq or anywhere else in the world.

Like I said...don't look too far into it. I'm not trying to break some new news story, nor am I trying to present anyone with information they don't already know. I found some cool pictures of people showing there support for our actions there, THAT'S IT.

#309196Post 15 of 56

beautiful images.

if you notice one thing is in common it is children. the most pure and innocent thing in life.

"if you want to have a future, invest in children"

that can not be more true. they will be raised in two different worlds, and watch "hopefully" a beautiful Iraq grow. Or they will grow with much bitterness towards the USA due to the destruction of their country. They are the deciding factor of that country.

as I stated many times ... the time and history of that nation will prove if the efforts and blood were worth to be spilled.

anyhow, nice images to see, and nice to see a smile to come from Iraq.

Well, since you responded and even gave me the little eye roll, I'll elaborate. I guess the thing that I find interesting/comical/pathetic is the way that so many people on the right are looking so fervently for something, anything, that will help them justify Bush's bumbling antics in Iraq. Someone in another thread posted a link to a slideshow that showed purported vials of sarin nerve gas found in Iraq, and was decidedly triumphant in tone in doing so -- as if he was elated to find WMDs in Iraq in a, "see, I told you so" sort of way. Of course, with sarin's shelf-life, this stuff, if it was sarin at all, was either created after Saddam was deposed or too old to be effective.

I don't know what your thoughts are on the matter, but the only positive thing I see about us finding sarin nerve gas in Iraq is that we found it before it was used on anyone, regardless of where it came from.

Now your post was obviously more upbeat and presented far better news. I just thought it was demonstrative of the right's tendency to cling like grim death to any news consistent with Bush's absurd take on the world, whether good or bad, as if it obscures the fact that we very clearly went into Iraq under false pretenses.

With all that said, I agree that these are great images.

Re: for those who say ALL iraqis don't want us there...

NOT many people like it when they are invaded. however, in 20 years when they control thier own lives and directions, they very well might, most the world does.

#311941Post 18 of 56

I gotta admit, I'm not gonna swing around and suddenly turn in favour of the war, but it's nice to see these pictures while all the media feed us horrible images and stories and nothing else...

It shows another part of the story indeed, although I never thought that all Iraqi's were against the US invading/liberating their country. The media may want to make the world look black and white, but that's far off the truth. I realise that most of Europe being against the war, the media wish to paint a picture as grim as possible.

And yes, there were European countries supporting the war, but that was the government. Out on the streets virtually nobody supported it, that is one thing that has become clear to me.

Thnx for the pics though.

doesn't the left do the exact same thing and look for every possible reason why the war is wrong.

#311981Post 20 of 56

Of course, but the left doesn't have to make an effort to find reasons or proof for it...
it's easy to criticize and play monday morning quarterback when shit goes wrong, giving reasonable answers to the problem would be better off.
I think there is a difference between second-guessing judgment calls, which I think fall into the "monday morning quarterbacking" category, and being critical because it is apparent that the information on which we based our decision to go to war was dead wrong.

I'd love to hear some reasonable answers out of someone -- particularly out of those that got us into this mess to begin with. Let's face it, though -- if anyone had any legitimate solutions to the Iraq problem, they would have advanced them by now. If you've got an idea that will actually work, then I support your appointment to the head of the defense department.

I DO have an idea for reforming the intelligence community to insure that we are working on correct information going forward. We could have everyone that disagreed with the president terminated, and replace them with more "yes men." That's sure to encourage thoughtful debate and scrutiny, right?

Ok, for the third and hopefully last time: don't read so far into it. Get it this time? You kill me how you can turn anything and everything in a right/left issue. Some people think all Iraqis want us to leave and don't want our help. I posted pictues of happy, grateful Iraqis. Where is the right/left issue? You just can't help it can you? And please tell me how I "cling like grim death" by showing people that are happy to live some semblence of a normal life. If you read some right-wing justification messege into this that is all you.

Obscuring??? Please tell me just what it is that I'm obscuring?

Just because you find it so "interesting/comical/pathetic" doesn't mean you have to respond to it. Really, you don't. Your "AND?" comment was completley unneccesary, but I realize you can't help but bring your "taste of the left" into every other conversation. So why not this one?

With all due respect, of course.

#312229Post 26 of 56

Easy guyz...now we've seen there's two sides to the story, that's all. Some Iraqi's like the Americans/coalition forces, and some don't.

The only comment I can think of with the pics neoee posted is that from a pic it is impossible to confirm who the killer was: it could eiher have been an American/coalition soldier, or an Iraqi insurgent. Unfortunately there's not a killer I know that stands around by his victim waiting for a photo to be taken and saying: "We'll, this guy doesn't look too happy about my presence here!!".

But that's just bitching on details I guess.

Is that the best you can do?? Showing pics of people who could have been wounded anywhere in the middle east, by anyone, and most likely by terrorist bombings or the like. Nowhere does a single picture show anything that could tie it to Iraq, much less the American military.

I was thinking the same thing. Does anyone think that insurgents aren't killing or harming innocents and blaming it on the US? These pictures could be from anywhere in the Middle East that there is fighting going on. And that's just about everywhere right???

Nice try.

#312315Post 29 of 56

the terrorists are the ones doing all this because of there stupid car bombs.. I hope that in the near future the Iraqi people will help turn these people in so we don't have to see anything like this ever again in Iraq.. Hell if we can turn Yao into being in favor of the war maybe we can convince these people that we are not the enemy.. I can't wait to see in 5-7 years when that place turns itself around.. somehow they will probably fuck it up though in civil war because kurds vs. shiite.. Then there will be another dispute going back to religion. But i hope for the best for these people.. If this doesn't work then i guess we will just have to NUKE IT!! :Boom:

You can't be serious? You really need pictures for me to prove the people that have had their homes destroyed, innocent lives lost among other things, don't want us there? If you really deem it necessary, I'll find some that relate it to our presence there. Though, I think it just takes a bit of common sense to realize there are people who do not want us there. Again, I don't see the real purpose to it since no matter how many pro and con pictures that are posted, we will never be able to determine the % of people who actually want us there vs. not. The only real way to determine that would be through some sort of poll and the last one I saw (dated June 04) indicated some 60% of Iraqi's didn't want us there. But to be fair I believe this poll to be bias. But then again.. dead people can't vote.

But consider the following:

Some country doesn't agree with what our leader is doing. Without any authorization by governing bodies, comes in, kidnaps our President, puts him on trial and then continues to go through our country looking for "badguys". Do you think we (Americans) would stand aside and let them continue? Or the more likely scenerio... fight back? The USA wouldn't be if we chose the first option.

Anyways I'll go turn up some pictures for you later tonight.

I don't really think any comparisons can really be drawn between our 2 country's situations. Our president has never used chemical weapons on us or kidnapped, tortured and killed our family members for dissenting against his evil rule. Average citizens in this country don't carry AK-47s and RPGs around out in the street. If I lived under these conditions and another country came in to try and stop it, name one reason why I would try to fight against them.

#312861Post 33 of 56

ahh neooee it may be 60 % now because we are still on there mother land and they don't like that but they were dancing in the streets when the USA was coming to take down saddam.. I saw those pics.. sometimes people don''t know whats best for themselves and it takes another country to come in and help it out.. In 5-7 years you to will see the progress of Iraq..

Re: for those who say ALL iraqis don't want us there...
sometimes people don''t know whats best for themselves and it takes another country to come in and help it out
Now who the fuck are we to tell people what's good for them? I still don't understand how you can say this with a straight face, assuming the Iraqi people are not capable of determining for themselves what's good for them and what not. Of course they now what's good for them, having it is second. And maybe they thought Saddam was bad, but being liberated by the Devil is even worse, get wat I'm saying? Don't just assume they think like us, Muslims and in this case the Iraqi's have a totally different view on right/wrong than we do. Maybe if Arabia was in the coalition this war would have had support even in the Arabian countries...but I think that would've been impossble.

Whatever argument you may have to be in favour of the war, this is one of the least acceptable to many people, simply because it (even though you may not mean it like that) implies a huge amount of arrogance towards non-Western people in general.

Search for the solution from within their culture, not outside. Born and fed from within it will have so much more legitimacy among the people it affects...

#312880Post 35 of 56

oh it is def. the least acceptable.. i agree.. i am not saying this like "I am smarter then them".. But how could you tell the enemy from a friend when the person you thought was your friend was the person killing you(saddam).. how can they trust anyone?? But these car bombs aren't the answer because the USA will leave soon (and go fight Iran) and all they are doing is killing there own people..

#312885Post 36 of 56

They are, sadly.

But the thing is, they didn't see Saddam as their friend you know. That they do not support the US in 'liberating' them has nothing to do with them actually liking Saddam, no way. But maybe they thought Saddam was bad, but the thought of being helped by the devil (because since the Fatwa from Iran that is how most devout Muslims think about the US) was just freakin' unbearable...You just choose bad over worse, that's all.

And: If Bush decides to attack Iran, let's organise a cage fight and let the outcome of that be decisive. You and me, aight? I'll be Iran, you be the US.
(Just a crazy though sneakin' into my mind   )

#312898Post 37 of 56

no problem.. i almost want them to go to war so we do this case fight..whether they saddam as a friend or not he was there leader and they weren't aloud to talk bad about him or they would be killed.. that is a shittly system if you ask me.
