ABC news to report directly from the blue room in the white house as well as many other shows to discuss Obama's health care plan. I guess ABC is the network of choice for Obama. Republicans are right pissed off.

Re: Goebbels Would be Proud of Obama

discuss..

Do you think that Obama should be allowed to discuss healthcare reform without republicans having a say??

With hand picked questions to Obama while calling it a town hall.

Re: Goebbels Would be Proud of Obama

I think any debate is useful but I don't think the republicans should have any final say...they had their chance with the bush

First of all, if you think that ABC is Obama's lapdog, you must not have been paying attention during election season. Remember the Dem debate with Charlie Gibson and George Stephanapolous?

Second, ABC is a private network, funded by private dollars, and they are free to show whatever they damn well please, with only their advertisers and investors to answer to. Neither Fox News nor MSNBC make any effort to be objective in their opinion programming, and there is no requirement that ABC be objective, either. However...

Third, you're assuming that this will just be a cheerleading session for Obama, which is hardly a foregone conclusion. I would expect ABC to make an effort to present the counter argument and ask some tough questions, lest they be accused of being "liberal," which is like a scarlet letter for news agencies. It is simply not correct to assume that just because no Republicans will be in attendance, that means that the event will just be one big happy circle jerk for everyone.

Finally, it isn't as if this is the sole means of discussing health care. Republicans have a say, they just won't be an in-person part of this particular program. Big freakin' deal.

Re: Goebbels Would be Proud of Obama

toasty stop being Obama's lapdog.. This has corrupt written all over it. Repubs aren't allowed in or anyone else who speak against Obama. It is like when he went to France and they were all Obama Zombies asking the questions not one french question.

Also they have been cheerleading him since he announced his election. He is the bankers bitch.

Re: Goebbels Would be Proud of Obama

It's not a debate, it's a news special, and the Fairness Doctrine has been dead for years. The GOP is not entitled to be at every event where Obama appears to offer a counter-point or, more likely, to just claim it's a horrible idea without offering its own proposal.

Fox News has people on all day who do nothing but bash Obama, and either offer no counter-point, or post up some sacrificial lamb like Alan Colmes to take his medicine while the mouth-breathers look on with delight. I'm going to gamble that that doesn't upset you, though.

When PBS runs this sort of special, you can feel free to bitch. This is a private company that is well within its rights to run whatever kind of show it likes, though, and if it's really as biased as you think it will be, ABC runs the risk that its viewers and advertisers will punish it accordingly.

Re: Goebbels Would be Proud of Obama

this is about healthcare (money) nothing more. Everybody knows Fox bashes Democrats and ABC, CBS, CNN are pro Democrat. But this is different. They are not doing any investigative journalism they are just repoprting what Obama is going to say.

Obama is nothing more than a salesman. He is here to calm the peasants while the powers that be strip the US's freedoms and take away their money. You watch three years from now you will have less money and less freedoms.

Re: Goebbels Would be Proud of Obama

No, this is about the GOP being utterly impotent and trying to do whatever they can to draw attention to themselves by huffing and puffing about this and other non-issues. There's actually a similarity here between you and them in you've both learned that you can make anything sound sinister if you attach the proper tone to it.

Obama has done exclusive events with CBS, NBC and now he's doing one with ABC. Big fucking deal. Perhaps he'll do one with Fox some day, but I wouldn't blame him if he didn't, because it actually makes no effort to even appear to be objective.

And yes, he is a salesman in some respects -- that's one of the primary roles of president, IMO, to drum up support for policy proposals -- and he's a damn good one. What's your point?

Re: Goebbels Would be Proud of Obama

i have avoided the section for awhile, notably since runningman is turning an obama sneeze into an attempt to spread swine flu, jenks abandoned rational response, and more, but toasty, come on man....

i have been reading some posts this afternoon, dude, stop ignoring the dumb shit obama is doing and the lack of action. i honestly would read that he is doing a good job from you, and we all know he isnt, in fact, he isnt doing much at all other than babbling to the least intelligent "advanced G8" country on the planet... yes, america is stupid, most of his backers are even lower on the IQ average and life experience. when will he act on something? stop telling me about it and fuicking do it already barak. i just cant beleive for a guy slinging bullshit, comeplete bullshit, and his lack of action, people are still falling for his dumb smile and clueless policy.

I feel that if he were a doctor in the ER and you saw him, your chart diagnosis would read, ""something is wrong, we'reg to try to fix it -- Dr. Obama", no statement of what, who , how, why, when. just.... we gotta fix it.

he has a nice oppurtunity here since he already has both houses divided, and that is to come up with a nice policy and give a shot at forming a central party.

HOWEVER

I want to pat myself on the back for saying something that obama's team is saying now, when everyone was flipping about the bank bailouts, and i was right.

WE ALREADY MADE A TON ON THE INTEREST OF MONIES BEING PAID BACK

it was a LOAN, that earned the Fed INTEREST and a lot of it.

excited to see the final earned interest in the end i am.

Re: Goebbels Would be Proud of Obama
but toasty, come on man....
Let's make a couple of things perfectly clear:

 1. I have not been a big fan of everything he has done up to this point, but it is not my inclination or duty to post something every time Obama does something I disagree with. This section is not my personal political blog, and I don't think anyone wants to hear that I'm disappointed that Obama has tried to codify the warrantless wiretaps, is trying to incorporate medical malpractice caps into his health care reform plan, and shares Bush's assertion that White House visitor logs are privileged. The fact that I disagree with him on these points (and others) is not surprising to me, nor does it really change my support, because I never supported him because I was 100% on board with his program, I supported him because I trusted his judgment and thought he would actually think about shit and try to reach the right conclusion rather than being led by pure ideology. I still think that.

If he ever does something so egregious that it changes that, rest assured, you'll hear about it from me, but picking apart his every move is not my responsibility. After 8 years of Bush, I'm frankly tired of every political thought in my head being governed by anger, disillusionment and disgust, and enjoy the comfort of not being so outraged that I feel compelled to post something in here every fucking day.

 1. My posts in this thread, and most threads of late, have been in direct response to whatever absurd conspiracy theory runningman has cooked up, not generalized commentary on Obama's performance. Even if I'm ambivalent about the point RM is advancing, as I often am, I cannot, as a logically thinking person, allow such perversions of the deduction process to go unchecked.

Re: Goebbels Would be Proud of Obama

Please. Where were you with the "news updates" when Bush was wiping his ass with the Constitution over the last 8 years (with little to no Democrat input, I might add)?

So what if he's giving a speech from the White House without a bunch of the Republicans there? It's just a speech. And obviously it's biased, because he basically wants to present his argument for his policy. That's normal and expected. Bush didn't have all of the Democrats at every speech or "town hall" he ever gave. And any healthcare bill still has to be passed through the House and the Senate anyways, so it's not like the Republicans won't have a chance to debate it to death in front of news cameras and have their say.

By all means, disagree with his opinions on health care. But to suggest that he is as bad as Hitler and his administration... well, that really robs this thread of credibility. Case closed.

Re: Goebbels Would be Proud of Obama

Even Bill Maher, a liberal, blasted Obama last Friday for being on TV too much. Anyone see that? He mentioned and heard others say that Obama wants to be liked too much.

Besides Fox news, the media is definitely on his side. I've never seen a President use the media like this to get out his message. It almost seems like collusion at this point. I think people are catching on though and that's why this topic is coming up and liberal commentators are even calling him out now.

Re: Goebbels Would be Proud of Obama

I think its only natural...a lot of the changes he is trying to introduce are very controversial. Its enough to read the posts in the politics section of MS to prove my point.
