Waterboarding Mancow

I used to listen to this dude -- conservative radio shock jock Erich "Mancow" Muller -- in the morning years ago, but ultimately stopped because I found him to be an insufferable blowhard. I guess he had been carrying the water, pun intended, for the "waterboarding is not torture" crowd and decided to submit to it live on the air to prove a point. It did not go well -- lasted 6-7 seconds:
"It is way worse than I thought it would be, and that's no joke,"Mancow said, likening it to a time when he nearly drowned as a child. "It is such an odd feeling to have water poured down your nose with your head back...It was instantaneous...and I don't want to say this: absolutely torture."
Re: Waterboarding Mancow

I'm sure a pussy like me or mancow can not take some one pouring down water on my face. but soldiers come on... this guys are trained to withstand worst situations than this, i just think this was a poor example performed on the standard civilian .

Re: Waterboarding Mancow

^^the fact that someone can be trained to withstand something doesn't mean it's not torture. That's the point of the training, actually.

Re: Waterboarding Mancow

I'm glad he did it though to see if it was torture. You have to give him credit for that. Now he knows.

Exactly. Plus it shows what chicken-hawks the torture supporters are.

Hannity or Limbaugh ought to try out this waterboarding thing as well. The way they talk about it, it should be no big deal, and if they did it as a nationally televised charity event, they could raise an enormous amount of money for a good cause and it would be an advertising bonanza for whatever network covered it. Republicans, Independents and Democrats alike would love watching that, for totally different reasons.

Not likely to happen, in large part because these blowhards' bark is worse than their bite. Moreover, you have to know that at least as to Hannity, it would have to be Fox News that would cover it, and I can't see Fox News doing anything with the potential to undercut its message, if things did not go well for them.

I thought this was going to be a thread about Dick Cheney.

Re: Waterboarding Mancow

OK, so now it appears that this may have been staged:

http://gawker.com/5271813/did-erich-mancow-muller-fake-his-waterboarding-for-publicity

This makes no sense to me. Mancow has been a vocal waterboarding apologist leading up to this event, and then he fakes undergoing the procedure and publicly changes his mind about it? I don't get it. If he were going to fake being waterboarded, wouldn't it make sense for him to pop up and be like, "hey, no big deal?" I don't see how this helps him apart from just getting his name in the news -- which would have happened regardless of the outcome, I suspect.
