Remember back in 2006 when Stephen Colbert was, for some bizarre reason, asked to be a speaker at the annual White House Correspondent's Dinner? Also, remember where he accepted that invitation and proceeded to sit 15 feet from President Bush, delivering a [URL="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stephen_Colbert_at_the_2006_White_House_Correspondents%27_Association_Dinner"]scathing satire of the president himself and the press corps that followed him[/URL]?
I was curious then why anyone that had ever seen Colbert's work would ask him to speak at such a function. Now, we know -- conservatives watching the program evidently don't realize that they are the ones being mocked:
