Taliban closing in on the Pakistani capital

This story concerns me because Pakistan has nuclear weapons and they could fall into the hands of the Taliban. The Taliban are allegedly pulling back, but I wouldn't put it pass them to try to obtain nuclear weapons.

If they continue to close on the capital or think they are getting close to obtaining the weapons, what do we do? Do we send forces there to stabilize and fight the Taliban? If so, then we ratchet up more hatred for us in the Middle East.

Re: Taliban closing in on the Pakistani capital

hmm, Hey Shpira, still think it is not possible?

Pakistan needs to step up and knock back the taliban out of their country. the taliban is like a virus, if you dont treat it quickly it will spread too fast where nothing can be done.

Re: Taliban closing in on the Pakistani capital

Guys, The region between Pakistan and eastern Afghanistan is dominated by people who are ethnically Pashtun. The border between this region has always been porous. The Taliban were not only afghans to start out with, a lot them grew up and got their training and in Pakistan and then moved to Afghanistan. And now since they are getting pushed out of Afghanistan, they are back. As far as the nukes are concerned though, the military, whose hands they are in is sort of a government within a government in Pakistan. I would doubt that they would easily let the Taliban get their hands on them. It’s still a very scary situation nonetheless.

Re: Taliban closing in on the Pakistani capital

I honestly wouldn't worry about this. Pakistan's territorial integrity has become somewhat of a joke lately so i'm sure if it is necessary the US forces will enter Pakistan from Afghanistan. Furthermore India is fairly unlikely to tolerate a bunch of psychotic fundamentalists taking power who i turn would be more likely to attack India than the US...so if any shit breaks out it will be between India and Pakistan IMO
In addition the Nukes Pakistan does poses are pretty shit. I did some investigations about six months ago about nuclear prolifiration. They are like third class nukes...lol I know nukes are nukes but at least thats like one possitive aspect. :)

All I can say is that it is a scary situation for the people of Pakistan. Plus another war with Indian is not going to be beneficial to anyone.
