That Seth troxler video pretty much sums up everything that is wrong with dance music.

A word from Mr Knuckles ::

Ive spent forty years at this craft of DJing. Every time I step up to play, to this day I'm scare beyond imagination. But I never let it get the better of me to the point where I would perpetrate a fraud on the public. I'd make a conscious effort to do my very best. Sometimes I was great, sometimes no so. But at least I tried and, thru this I gained the respect of the audiences I've been playing for over the years and my contemporaries. I don't think it's disgusting the amount of money he gets paid. But I do think its disgusting that club owners and promoters around the will spend that kind of money on someone who doesn't have the gift to do this job properly. And what makes it worse is his laughing in everyone's face that pays good money to watch him perpetrate this fraud. David Guetta has believers and followers. The lie he perpetrates on every stage in every arena shows how much of a sucker he thinks these people are. In all my years I would never take the audience that believe in me into a place that would disrespect them. I sweat like a man on his way to the gallos throughout every set I play and, I prefer being close enough to the crowd so that they can see the hard work I put into keeping them entertained. Not every mix is perfect. But nothing in life is perfect. At least I make an effort. I too could pre-record my sets and act as if I'm doing it live but, I would know that I'm faking it. And so would anyone working with me or hanging around me. And when it's all over and done with I have to live with myself. I don't walk in ths man's shoes but I can't imagine he has much of a conscious either. He's a pop star of the Milli Vanilli variety. If nothing else at the end of my life it will never be said that I was a fake or charlatan.

No I never have, but I wish I had. It's not too late I suppose, but my wife isn't really the type, and I have a 1 yr old. I say, do it now while you aren't tied down to anything. :)

Re: Random thoughts

Don't go travelling with a gf or friends (unless they are in your top group of friends)..in most cases there is a struggle to do or see what you want with limited time and money available.

Dont go to Australia for fuck sake...It's a watered down over priced version of the US.

Would you pay more to drink mid strength beer?

On a different note.

Some really mediocre girls have been giving me the biggest boners lately..I must be getting desperate

Do Australia when you are retired and have a plastic hip.

When you're young go to interesting exotic places.

Ive been hiking/camping.... the most survivalist type camping I've done was with "outward bound" back in 1996. We camped for 2 weeks in Northern Minnesota with 2 pairs of clothes, pots/pans, tents, a little food and conoes. This was in an area called "the boundary waters.". A large chain of lakes. The Mosquitos and thunderstorms were epic. I will never forget the experience. Though this was back when people went outside, you know, before the internet.

Study shows compassion meditation changes the brain.

Can we train ourselves to be compassionate? A new study suggests the answer is yes. Cultivating compassion and kindness through meditation affects brain regions that can make a person more empathetic to other peoples' mental states, say researchers at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Published March 25 in the Public Library of Science One, the study was the first to use functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) to indicate that positive emotions such as loving-kindness and compassion can be learned in the same way as playing a musical instrument or being proficient in a sport. The scans revealed that brain circuits used to detect emotions and feelings were dramatically changed in subjects who had extensive experience practicing compassion meditation.

The research suggests that individuals — from children who may engage in bullying to people prone to recurring depression — and society in general could benefit from such meditative practices, says study director Richard Davidson, professor of psychiatry and psychology at UW-Madison and an expert on imaging the effects of meditation. Davidson and UW-Madison associate scientist Antoine Lutz were co-principal investigators on the project.

Re: Random thoughts

^ Beautiful pictures Florida, especially those last two.

Noble qualities make noblemen: a single one of them is worth more than a multitude of mediocre ones. There was once a man who made all his belongings, even his household utensils, as great as possible. How much more ought a great man see that the qualities of his soul are as great as possible. In God all is eternal and infinite, so in a hero everything should be great and majestic, so that all his deeds, nay, all his words, should be pervaded by a transcendent majesty.

Re: Random thoughts
^ I don't know about upgrading your DNA but the idea is nice. :)
To me, it was an abbreviated way of saying, "want to improve the lives of your kids (and potentially grandkids and so on)?" Teach them to relax, be loving and have gratitude. This is what makes a person happy, so if you raise a child in that kind of an environment, you actually will promote the parts of their DNA that are loving, kind, caring, etc. We are all a product of our DNA and the environments we grew up in. Change the environment, change the individual.

#1691660Post 6559 of 8670

Re: Random thoughts

True, it's more like we can't change our DNA but we can change our environment and attitudes, which plays just as much of a role in shaping who we are.
