That is exactly why I always found it frustrating that people that held themselves out as "conservatives" would defend Bush's actions tooth and nail. It's one thing to view the opposition as a worse option, but a conservative, he was not.

I've definitely been voting that way lately, but I think that has a lot more to do with the GOP losing its damn mind over the last 8 years than a real love of democratic policies. That is, except for social issues, where I'll freely admit that I'm extremely liberal.

Having just worked in a political campaign in a very conservative primarily republican district I had conversations every day on the phone with republicans who voted with their party and were proud of their party, some for over 50 years and due to the last administration are ashamed of their party and are now registered independent. They were pretty sobering conversations frankly.
