Re: Obama's $825 Billion Stimulus

There is no quick fix solution. Obama stimulus package will not fix the economy, the US is 9 Trillion Dollars in Debt, you're basically throwing peanuts at the problem.

And like the person mentioned above, there is a pattern here to what happened in the great depression. And this is where things could get out of hand.

 • People will lose their jobs
 • Unemployment rises, crimes are up
 • People will demand change
 • People get fed up with politicians for lack of change.
 • Extremist politicians and ideologies rise up promising real change
 • People desperate for change vote for them
 • etc.... you can fill in the blanks...

History always repeats itself and it always takes something revolutionary before things are balanced out again.

Re: Obama's $825 Billion Stimulus

The more I learn about the details of this stimulus bill, the less thrilled I am with it. I think some form of stimulus is very much needed, but I'm concerned that these projects have no exit strategy to them; they should be temporary initiatives that are ultimately fully shifted off into the private sector as quickly as possible. I am also concerned that even if this stimulus works, the amount of money we're flooding into the economy will touch off the greatest wave of inflation this country has ever seen once the economy bottoms.

If you're going to make personal attacks about other peoples' intelligence, then I'm just going to keep pointing out the elementary school-level errors that you keep making in your posts. Don't you think it's ironic?

Re: Obama's $825 Billion Stimulus

The English language has nothing to do with intelligence. Absolutely nothing. I think you are very shallow minded and view the world as some "fair" place. When you get in the real world you will see that the more corrupt something sounds the more true it is. Especially when talking about your country.

Also you keep pointing out spelling mistakes and I will keep pointing out that you are a National Socialist (Nazi) supporter. The way you explain the reasons for the bailout just shows how stupid you really are. Anybody with half a brain would realize that in order for free market capitalism to work things have to fail. To date only Lehman has failed which is leading to the demise of your dollar. I have been speaking about this for months (yet again I was right) and it always takes you six months later to realize that I was right.

Don't be so jealous because your not the smartest on this forum. You keep being the loser English teacher and I will tell you how the world "really" works.

Don't be so jealous because your not the smartest on this forum. You keep being the loser English teacher and I will tell you how the world "really" works.
First of all, I'm 30. I've earned both bachelor's and master's degrees with high honors, established a professional career, and fended for myself for a good while now. I'm out in the real world, I've seen the nice and the ugly, and I don't think a damn thing is necessarily fair out here.

Secondly, here's the difference between you and me, son:

My responses to you, for better or for worse, are at least rationally formulated based on the shit you post. Your responses devolve into these bizarre, outlandish personal attacks that no one can take seriously - like calling me a Nazi. Really? Someone points out your egregious spelling errors and takes a different perspective on the bailout, and you decide to call them...a Nazi? How does something like that that even make sense in your brain?

You're right that your intelligence is not indicated by your command of English grammar (although it doesn't help your case); it is most clearly indicated by these kinds of baseless personal attacks you like to make. Do you know who makes these kinds of wild responses in an argument? Little kids who don't get their way. Comments like that make you sound like an angry second grader, for God's sake ("Oh yeah?? Well...You're stupid!...You're a Nazi!...You're a dodo head!"). Grow up.

If you could control your emotions enough to post responses based on the substance of peoples' posts, then maybe I and others would respect you around here. As it is, your own posts rob you of credibility. This is really my only problem with you, and it has nothing to do with your opinions, who's right and who's wrong, etc.

And I fear that this whole post just went straight over your head, and you'll come back and call me a stupid meanie pooh pooh Satan-worshipping Anarchist. And you'll think that you're so clever and you that just scored "points". There may be no helping you. But I didn't really post this out of the hope of somehow get through to you; I posted it to publicly call out your behavior one time to everyone else around here.

I'm not going sink to your level and keep responding to your preposterous personal attacks. But at least know that I'm not alone in seeing what you're doing on here.

well I would love to waste my time and defend myself but I dont have the time anymore.

Obamas speech last night was great for me and opened many doors for my business I look forward to doing business with the US government in the upcoming years.

Obama is right in what he is doing and I fully support his decision.

Re: Obama's $825 Billion Stimulus

Senate just approved it, so looks like it'll eventually happen once the Congress can agree on the bill to send to Obama.

I'm sure there's pork in the bill, but something has to be done. And I haven't heard a good argument on what to do from the Republicans yet. All they push are tax cuts which helps only the high earners.

^this.

I love tax cuts. LOVE them. At some point, though, I think we've got to have a broader view. If you're not generating any income because you don't have a job, tax cuts don't mean dick to you in the short term. We need something that is going to help NOW.

Tax cuts could and probably should be a part of any economic stimulus proposal, but the GOP's slavish reliance upon them as the be-all, end-all solution to all of our economic woes highlights their lack of creativity and vision, IMO. It's an overly simplistic solution to a really complex problem.

Re: Obama's $825 Billion Stimulus

The US dollar will completely collapse within 12 months. It is totally unavoidable now.

Hyperinflation that will make your head spin. Get out of the US dollar immediately. We will see who laughs last in 12 months.

This is my last warning since I have changed my tune.

yep good. You dont need a burning bush to see what is coming. CATO Institute, Celente, Rogers, Soros, Schiff are on my side
well I would love to waste my time and defend myself but I dont have the time anymore.
Here's a final proposal: By all means disagree with me, but keep your criticisms focused on the material I post and not on outrageous personal attacks.

In exchange, I will reciprocate your behavior and keep my spelling corrections to myself. Deal?

This is not about who is right or who is smartest; it's about maturity and basic respect.

I would wager that most of us on here do. And yes, there will likely high be a period of high inflation once the downturn bottoms out. Most of our differences stem not from where we are going, but what to do about it.

On another note, I along with the rest of the market was surprised at the lack of specifics in Geithner's plan... It's not enough to say that you will stress test banks before giving loans and go for a good bank-bad bank setup; the devil is in the details, and the same fundamental questions that have plagued the markets still remain unanswered (such as how to value toxic assets).

Re: Obama's $825 Billion Stimulus

I'm not too worried about it. If the dollar goes bust, so will the rest of the worlds economies. and they can't have things like that happen.

the British Pound used to be worth almost 2 of our dollars...but not anymore. it's headed south too.

Re: Obama's $825 Billion Stimulus

well, i'm fucking scared. i haven't seen one single person that thinks things will start getting better anytime soon.

don't know how much you guys see of spain in the US press these days, but it's all over the news here. i think they just hit almost 14% unemployment. that's huge!
