coulters new book... brilliant, but not her opinion

i read the audacity of hope, and i promised myself to always revert back and forth between right and left leaning books, so i picked this up, simply because it was written to be sarcastic and was told it was humourous.

it is.

its gold.

its so sarcastic, the only book reagrding the political division i compare to it is matt taibbis book about the bush kerry election.

it is a fact backed SWIPE at the liberal left and told in such a snipers point of view.

if anyone is interested in seeing both sides of american politics and tends to lean left, this book is a must read, and if you hate the left and want ammo to argue, it does the job.

i find myself laughing while readin the first few chapters.

her attacks on how the liberal leadership bitches about wealth, but pay more in tax on thier posesions than they donate in charity is gold, how they oppose the wealth tax because it would hurt them (thier old money::kennedy) but push for the higher income tax (hurting the earners). there is so much in here that shows the two faced nature of both the right and left.

one thing i am noticeing, and maybe i just havent gotten to it yet, is the absense of religion in the book, which is what i am afraid of coming around to. i hate the religious principles of the right.

but i would say people should check it out. funny read, and good to see the unpopular opinion being voiced in a "if walks like a duck, talks like a duck " manner.

Re: coulters new book... brilliant, but not her opinion

I liked tiabbi's book, but I cannot in good conscience bring myself to do anything in support of Ann Coulter. Perhaps if someone were to give me a copy that they could assure me was stolen directly from the publisher before it could be sold to a retailer so there was no chance that she could financially benefit from it any more than she already has, I might consider reading a passage or two.

As it stands, though, regardless of how witty her writing may be, she's an example of the worst the political realm has to offer, a person that peddles invective more than intellect. Every so often, she comes out with a new book and utters some loathesome comment to renew interest in what she has to say. She thrives on being antagonistic. I can't support that.

Re: coulters new book... brilliant, but not her opinion

i guess you'll have to stick to liberal dick sucking books. shame, because a well rounded opinion shuold takt in all things, from george soros's opinions to this one too. as i said, reading both sides gives a better opinion of all aorund concepts, if ya dont ya end up like chloe, spouting "religion sucks" while being misinformed on other things.

I'm all for checking out multiple, divergent opinions, but I just put Coulter in a different category, I guess because I don't view her as serious political commentator.

i'm actually a right winger. i just can't stand that moron. she truly is mind-blowingly stupid. i'd rather light my money on fire than buy her book.

She's actually pretty intelligent, the only problem is that she fills her words with such bile and vitriol that it kills her credibility. If she were to just lay out her case point for point and avoid all the mean-spirited attacks and jabs she'd be better off IMO, but hate sells i guess. She's in the same league as Al Franken –insightful and talented minds that are so overcome with seething hatred for the other side that they just end up burying themselves.

Re: coulters new book... brilliant, but not her opinion

how rude are you?

because i think differently than you sightless doesn't make me ill informed. i am not religion sucks person, im a 'religion sucks because of my experiences in churches, with pastors and within the civilized world'. i dont like the intolerance is CAN breed, and ideals that can not happen, ie, abstinence from a teenager.

imo, you are becoming like others here where if someone disagrees with you then you need to attack them, is that it? cus you keep doing it to me and even brought me into a thread im not even talking in. i find this really annoying. i'm not illinformed because i disagree with you.

Re: coulters new book... brilliant, but not her opinion

but when someone disagrees with you we are the rude ones. Take it as educational. At least on here people will tell you exactly how they feel without holding back. People call me an asshole I think "yes I am". But I can accept that. Can you accept what people have to say about you is the real question???

This is an oxymoron. You can't be intelligent and fill your words with bile and vitriol. Sorry, doesn't work that way. The two are not independant. Intelligence is wholy dependant on not being that way.

Ehh...okay. You mean to tell me you never had a professor or teacher who knew shitloads but was a complete dick? If so, man i wish i went to your schools.

Ever hear of Fritz Zwicky? He's a famous astrophysicist, the guy that figured out how a supernova is formed, basically the father of dark matter - probably one the greatest minds to ever sit behind a telescope (only reason i even know this guy myself is because there's an article on him in the lastest Discover). Entire books have been written about how this guy shit on every colleague he ever had, made students flee in tears from the berating he'd give them during his classes - he was absolutely douche by all accounts. A pioneer in his field and more intelligent than you or i could ever hope to be, but a grade A dick.

Just because someone can be a raging ass doesn't make them any less intelligent.

Re: coulters new book... brilliant, but not her opinion

i agree to an extent. active intelligence; pure, unalloyed, responsible and wise does not foster those things, yes. but pride of intelligence, so coarse, can spawn the most bile vitriol possible.

Re: coulters new book... brilliant, but not her opinion

wat i meant to say is that you are so focused on one little thing you ignore certain factors that are so blatently clear on opinions that are counter to yours chloe. often times, you talk baout things arent even feasible, exaggerating minor facts to prove a point. we are all guilty of it though. toasty is the only one around here who does it right imo. but i have made that clear before. i stand up for you when i agree, and go against when i dont. and im one of the worst baloon headed people around here, but i ask for the opposing opinion and facts, dont deny them.
