wow. stupidity shining bright in the land of the sheep fuckers huh...

just saw the article on msnbc that they are planning on demonstrating there tomorrow.

the question is, cuz this can inflame things very quickly, what do the greek authorities do here? let a historical monument risk being damaged (anarchists) and stay away, or put a monster security ribbon there to protect an artifact of world history and risk some crazy violence.

to our greek ppl, honestly, when do u think this will die down?

why are they not stopping, i think the message is clear.

Re: greek protestors targeting acropolis

There's a big fence around the Acropolis. I was in Athens the day they had set aside to mourn the passing of former Prime Minister Andreas Papandreou and we weren't able to get up very close to the Acropolis at all. By the way, it's a real pisser to travel all the way to Athens and then have them declare the day you've set aside to take in all of the various historical sites a national day of mourning, such that absolutely everything is closed. There's a ton of stuff I wanted to see there. I digress.

Anyway, the point is that I would hope they'll at least have the good sense to close that gate. I don't remember how substantial it was, but it definitely isn't the sort of thing you can just hop over, so maybe that will slow folks down some. That and, maybe "Hey, perhaps we shouldn't destroy this awesome symbol of our nation's history" will kick in.
