Two quick things.

1. The attack was likely a reaction to Indian merging with globalization, to sever ties with the West and perhaps Asia as well.

2. India will likely mature its military and foreign policy and give lesser weight and interest to the Kashmir region, and will assuredly expand itself into the global marketplace - the upside (though unfortunate) to these attacks.

I also heard something about Russia being involved (perhaps to provoke retaliation and more instability in the region), but cannot be so certain as of the time of this post.

its our neighbors, where nearly all of this BS always incubates in and comes from. Thats what happened in Kargil and every other major event involving Islamic Terrorism. I'll probably ruffle a lot of feathers by saying this but the neighboring intelligence agency is a collection of English speaking thugs in suits who continue to stoop to levels of ludicrous-y in creating this trouble. Sending 14 year olds wrapped in clear plastic tape to stay "warm" through the biting cold and a couple of magazines to empty as many rounds as they could into Indian soldiers.

In return, these poor souls (who were originally from destitute families and were promised a better life for the families they left behind) would give up their lives for nothing .... and most likely not have any of the promises made to them, delivered in return. And that same nonsense continues to date.

Dont' let the "third world" status or the economic status of 60% of India's population throw you off, RAW and the elite commando forces are ones to reckon with. Not to mention what techniques the Bombay police will use to get information out from, and about who is behind this shit.

yes that was an Ex RAW officer. That is a mystery I'm waiting to be resolved, why someone as high-ranking an officer as him was doing as a foot soldier. He's the one responsible for single-handedly resolving a dozen of the recent Bombings in Bombay including the infamous 1993 bomb attacks. Amazing what a pair of pliers can make suspects spew out.

These attacks have hit home like no-man's business.

Some of the crap that their news media reports in beyond sensational. Claiming 9/11 was orchestrated by the US Zionists so they could find a reason to attack Afghanistan and the the "stupid" Indian Zionists tried the same thing with the recent Bombay attacks and failed.

here's another interesting point

none of the soldiers had shot a firearm within four years of this event. the firearms the police did possess were outdated and in limited supply. the reason why the cops took so long to get to the area is because they had to take public transportation. that is, they had to wait for a bus so they could respond.

and not to mention, there is little doubt that nobody in the area was carrying a personal firearm b/c of the draconian gun laws in that country.

While I do agree that the 303 rifles used by the Mumbai police are outdated, they aren't insufficient in their intended use considering there is a NO GUN LAW in the country. Moreover, I doubt there is ANY police force on the planet that is geared to deal with a terrorist attack of such kind, especially when there were 10 of them and were armed with AK56's and Grenades.

Its similar to how 2 armed bank robbers in california, with no training and covered with armor and comparatively inferior AK47s kept the police at bay for hours on end in an open air battle.

I do agree though that the NSG and Commandos who are mainly stationed in the country's capital should be distributed throughout the nation to ensure a quicker response.

dude, the police were [I]incredibly under prepared[/I] to the point that it is almost silly to say that there was [I]any[/I] preparation for such an event like this. The NO GUN LAW, I would argue, gave the gunmen not only the freedom to roam around as they chose but also the knowledge that nobody else would have guns to retaliate against them. The gunmen [I]counted[/I] on this fact. And you can bring up that incident in cali where those guys had layers of body armor, but here, [I]they didn't: even a goddamn compound bow would have helped. This is yet another reason why reliance on the government, any government, for protection against terrorism is unfounded, absurd, and down-right appauling. The government isn't there to 'protect and serve' as much as it is there to 'respond only'. Which is really all it can do in most circumstances.

Also, i'm reading that the gunmen were trained by Pakistani ISI on one of their naval bases. Jesus, this does not look good.

Dont think the facts are entirely accurate, the police were on the scene, they were just under-prepared for such an attack and overrun by the 1+ year of rigorous military grade training that the militants received. Again, it appears you are confusing the result of the response from the Mumbai police vs. the time it took for the NSG and commando units to reach mumbai.

if it wasn't for the US intervening the entire time, we would've gone to war the last time they attacked our parliament. We moved a shit load of troops to the Pakistan border but then the US government intervened as Pakistan threatened to move their troops from the Afghan border towards the Indian front and the US needed the Pakistan Army to find Bin Laden.

I believe that the US is desperately looking for more allies in the "war on terror." India would be a great fit for them since they are in the middle of the action. The western alliance is bored with the US's empire building. Canada, UK are sick of fighting in wars that they don't believe in. India would be perfect since it is almost a third world nation in the middle of the action and has soldiers that want to kill pakistani's already. The western world is sick of hearing about it's soldiers dying in these silly wars. India has been re-energized to get in on the action now.

Shit I wouldn't doubt it if the CIA was a part of the Mumai attacks to pull India in to the alliance. Watch India join NATO now then you will know for sure it was the CIA
