Re: baraks grandmother died..
so even if he wins - it will be surrounded in sadness for him personally.
at least he took those few days to be with her. I personally thought that showed his character.

Re: baraks grandmother died..

Re: baraks grandmother died..
well, McCain has been making dogshit comments like this all the past two months. It's not really a stretch that he'd do this.

I am not referring to his recent loss) . Maybe Obama should make it a point to avoid controversial people and groups in his career. But the way you make it sound is Obama never said anything negative about McCain. I guess he was running an actual honest campaign.

Don't get me wrong, it's not that I don't think that Obama should be criticized. It's normal and fully appropriate for politicians to criticize each others' policies and ideological positions. Obama should absolutely have his feet held to the fire and be tested on his proposals, just like every other politician.
But then again, it's different when McCain and Palin decide to make it a central point in their campaign to repeatedly aledge that Obama is a Communist, a Socialist, a terrorist sympathizer, that he is somehow not "real American" enough in their book. That didn't have to be the case, and it frankly says a lot more about them than it does about Obama. Obama has criticized McCain and Palin's viewpoints, but he hasn't repeatedly suggested that they are heavy-handed, freedom-hating fascists.

agreed. this isnt elementary school where we put down each other, its for the fuckin presidency. get serious and stay with your politics. saying one person is more american than another is sheer ignorance and stupidity.
what is even more bullshit is that palin and mccain will continue to have a political career if obama wins.

i disagree. being there with his dying grandmother doesnt show character. its what would be expected.

I actually agree with you for once.
Re: baraks grandmother died..
I think it would have been very easy for a candidate (of any party) to think running for the highest office in the states, with a country depending on you - to put the campaign first.
You see it (putting job ahead of family) all the time in businesses where people want to succeed.
Either way. Not worth a fight.

When you become President, you are voted in by the public. They spend a lot of time on the character thing, and the opposing candidates spend a lot of time finding ways to smear your character. It's not a great strategy for getting votes to demonstrate that you'll let your own family drop dead for the sake of your political opportunism. People tend not to like it.
Re: baraks grandmother died..
what are the odds of this??

if that were true, Gore would have won in 2000.
