Re: why are you republican
while im not hard core republican, i would be considered it if you only allowed for the two party system. (im actually libertarian, as im extremely socially liberal and believe the nationalization of a few industries would do us good.).
but to highlight why i hold SOME republican ideals true and valueable....
in one word. MONEY. its the final, end all, be alkl reasoining behind anything we do. its the reason youpush yourself beyond the local club night, the reason i work 70 hours a week.particularly the markets. they always prefer a conservative congress, not GW neo-con(they are conservative, they are overreaching, spend too much, and act like democrats, but with far right ideas, think reagan instead). and a huge reason i grew up with this idea is that my father is a self employed business owner who fits into barak's idea of rich. i.e. he makes above 250 a year. why should he be taxed so much for his hard work and his dollars be re-funneled into the ideas of welfare, and other social prodjects he will never need. thats just one aspect. i am a hardline beleiver in free market economics, they work when allowed to operate without interference from govt or media. regulatory laws shuld only be in place for essentials(insurance, medications, most notably). democrats would rather share wealth than create wealth, and that leads to market stagnation, historically speaking.
general rule of thumb in accounting, finance, economics and the associated industries, is that an administration (disregard this one, it is breaking every rule for the most part) does not have tis policies felt for no less than 6-7 years after it leaves office. (i.e. the first large national debt after new deal). and on top of that, the market averages tend to react negatively to a democratic congress(our current state, thanks in part to barney frank's imitation of the NOLA levy board while he headed the house finance comittee.) this is not a debatable opinion, it is a historical fact. a trend that has existed since the opening of the NYSE.
but on the other hand, i agree with you entirely regarding some of the points you make about about the current republican party. they are vile in so many ways. gays rights is a biggie with me, as is a woman's right to choose. the wuestion i ask often is "why does a 50 year old man in DC feel it neccessary to tell a woman in LA she cannot have an abortion even if its because of rape/incest? (i hate pallin, she is hitler with a smile, even her speeches remind me of david duke).. the incessant need to intervene bothers me. while the iraq war may have a long term benifit, it has set the world's relations to the fire pot of the middle east back no less than 30 years. russia is once again eager to pounce. yet again we are hearing from left wing autocrats, from asia to south america. the current administrations idea of "republicanism" is so far skewed its disgusting, but so is teh democrats, they are lost in thier own stupidity.
to recall an analogy i used before
bush's administration is to republicanism, what tiesto is to trance.
ie they took a wonderful; idea (reagan's republican/sasha's trance) and warped into a tool to manipulate the masses through nonsense.
i cant fathom ever embracing a true democratic party ideal outside of thier social rights stances, and i guess this is why i am now begging people to look into libertarian party. conservative in spending, small govt , extremely socially liberal, even more so than the current democratic party. and conservative in the right way ni regards to foreign policy, military SAVINGS(not spending) etc.
i could go on in respect to taxes and aforementioned property rights, but they are obvious points of view)
